2023 Dodge Hornet - Best Compact Muscle SUV

The newest SUV from Dodge, the 2023 Dodge Hornet, is the fastest, most powerful SUV under $30,000 launched in the United States market this year. This December, dealers will receive it. In addition, it is Dodge's first vehicle to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, a first step toward total electrification.
The base Hornet is powered by Stellanti's Hurricane engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that produces more than 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque (a little more than the Tonale's horsepower). Standard features include an all-wheel drive system and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Dodge claims that the Hornet can reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, making it the fastest crossover under $30,000. The Hornet comes equipped with Koni shocks, dynamic torque vectoring, and front-mounted MacPherson suspension that is completely independent. There are also Brembo brakes available.
The renowned GLH badge will also return to Dodge showrooms with the Hornet. This time, with a compact crossover in a "Goes Like Hell" version that connects with Dodge fans directly. The GLH is powered by the new Hurricane engine family, a non-electrified 2-liter four-cylinder turbo. This engine will produce at least 265 horsepower in standard Hornet models; however, GLH add-ons will boost performance and output with a cat-back exhaust and lowering kit.
The Hornet's interior is virtually identical to that of the Tonale, with the exception of a modified upper dash pad and a different design for the air vents. The start button is on the raised center console, and the 12.3-inch central touchscreen, climate control buttons, and dashboard are angled toward the driver. The Hornet is equipped with Stellantis' brand-new Android-based Uconnect 5 system and comes standard with a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and center screen. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are wireless, and it can connect to two phones simultaneously. Additionally, the Hornet has built-in connectivity to Amazon Alexa, allowing you to remotely start the car from inside your home.
The Tech package adds adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, lane centering, and traffic sign recognition, as well as blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist with steering assist, and rear parking sensors. A rear-seat reminder, rain-sensing wipers, and passive entry are additional standard features. A heated leather steering wheel, a hands-free tailgate, and a Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers are all options. Pricing in its entirety has not yet been made public; order books opened on August 17.
