I used to get macadamias in their shells occasionally when I lived in Colorado some years ago. Very hard to crack. I would find a sidewalk with a suitable-sized pit in it, put the nut in it, and whack it with a hammer. With practice I got pretty good at it. Then I had no macadamias for a few years. The next time I tried one, already cracked, I’d become allergic to them.
Heaps of Macadamia nuts in Australia in the shells because they grow here naturally. All you need is a hammer to crack them and they taste so much better.
I have actually seen macadamia sold in their shells. They come with slits on their shell an a small tool that works like an oyster knife, though with a longer leverage. You can pry it open with a twisting motion
I foolishly planted a Macadamia tree in my yard in Southern California. It grows well here, but the squirrels, parrots, rats and crows all love them. Yes, there are parrots here, and yes, I know they were not indigenous to the region.
The hardest nut in the world is Canarium Ovatum native to my city Sorsogon Philippines. It peirce through tires when they scared in the road. Usually we used big rock to cracked it

All ends up the same!
My prefered cracking method was the humble brick.
They're delicious both raw & roasted. Just a bit of salt is all they need!
I live in Tzaneen South Africa and we have tons of Macadamia farmers and processors here. We buy de-shelled macadamias direct from the factory.
2:51 dentists everywhere are cringing!
If you think a macadamia is tough to crack, give it a bottle of whiskey.

Yeah? Where? Or should I just try Amazon?

Plant a few dozen more in the area, when wildlife has enough you will too. 😊❤
Did the parrot have a pair of pliers under its wing?

I’ve read that macadamia nuts are the most nutritious
Why have I never seen roasted macadamias? Do they exist? I have seen roasted versions of all other nuts.
Because one of the nuts has to be the toughest to crack?
I'm not a fan of that nut puns because it in not fun-ny
It's actually the pili nut from the Philippines that's hardest to crack.

As a former resident of Hawaii I would like to say that Hawaiians love their snacks and fish.
Born and raised in Hawaii... that's true for a large percentage of the planet...

i was hoping the farm would be owned by a native, but that was the whitest most american "aloha" I've ever heard
Haha, imagine letting the locals have some economic development opportunities. This is America, not some place that respects indigenous groups.
I was hoping she'd go to australia. Macadamias are only native to australia.
@@ulogy i'm sure there are no regulations stopping indigenous people starting a macadamia farm
