    As a interior design myself, I FEEL for this designer. Most clients articulate what they want and when you give them that, they don’t like it. It’s very common. I find it’s easiest to spend quite a bit of time in the concept image phase of a project to really make sure you and your client are on the same page. It’s harder than it seems, especially with extremely particular clients.

    When I first saw the house tour video, I honestly thought it was the most beautiful house I've ever seen. When looking at the designs .. I hated every single proposal. Change the designer or better yet, take the time to do it yourself. Slower, but to fit your taste and style.

    I feel like Valeria wants something cozy, where she feels at home not at a hotel but still put together, I get her. The interior designer is amazing and talented, it is always hard to communicate with clients especially the ones who change their mind all the time.

  • @ivayaneva4508
    @ivayaneva4508 Год назад +249

    I an honestly amazed at all the comments here and how quick people are to hate on the designer.
    First of all, designers are not mind-readers. You need to communicate what you want, just as with everything else. When Valeria says she doesn’t like brass, the designer says she received a questionnaire (or whatever) where V indicated she most preferred brass. And that’s why she used it in her project. It’s perfectly understandable to feel confused, even irritated when you receive such conflicting feedback.
    And yes, one shouldn’t just go with whatever the designer shows them when it doesn’t feel right. It is their home and it’s important it reflects their needs, taste, lifestyle and personality. But you (not Valeria per say, but each one of us using a design service) need to understand that you need to be clear about your wishes and cannot expect to change the brief all the time. In fact, most designers charge extra if you disregard everything you’ve agreed upon and make them start all over. The designer said at the beginning she received a completely different brief a week ago, threw everything in the garbage and started from scratch. Now that’s not something you can do again and again. A designer doesn’t only work for you - they have other projects and clients. We obviously don’t know their contract, but usually that’s extra work and extra hours and it’s not the designer’s fault that the client changed their mind. How would you feel if you’ve been working on something for weeks, months even and your boss comes in days before the presentation and tells you you’re doing something totally different instead and need to start all over?
    Again, this comment is not directed at Valeria, as she says multiple times in the video and in the comments that she acknowledges this difficulty. But my goodness, people - have a bit more respect for others’ work, please

      exactly my point !i fully agree! it felt sorry for the designer thatI`m sure will read these negative comments and its not her fault.
      I feel that the designer should watch some videos when Valeria visits France for Chanel show- she seemed very happy with the interior design out there. And as a European I feel the same vibe!

      Agree and being on phone all time while someone presents work is simply rude. It was not once, it was over and over again, both of them. YOU CAN WAIT 30 MINUTES OR MORE WITH REPLIES, Goddamn.

    • @ivayaneva4508
      @ivayaneva4508 Год назад +2

      @@myriamjerdak5343 it depends on the contract. Usually you have only a certain number of changes calculated in the price. The reason for that is that you don’t only work for one single client and when you have others whose projects need to be pushed back because of redesigns, then that’s a problem. Speaking as someone with over a decade of experience working as an architect and interior designer 😉

    • @ivayaneva4508
      @ivayaneva4508 Год назад +2

      @@myriamjerdak5343 perhaps I didn’t explain too clearly. There’s different ways in which designers work, but the majority makes money predominantly from executing the projects and purchasing. For the majority of interior design firms, very little money is made from the actual design phase. So it does matter for the company if it has 10 different clients and 10 completed projects in one year or just one small project. They are also potentially missing out on other maybe bigger projects - a hotel, retail etc. My point is that we need to be respectful of the business of whoever we have working for us. The mentality that if you hire someone, they have to do whatever you say because you’re paying is just not okay. And let’s not forget that a company can also fire a client, not just the other way around. It actually happens a lot in the interior design industry.

    • @ivayaneva4508
      @ivayaneva4508 Год назад

      @@myriamjerdak5343 it’s especially in the luxury segment that the large portion of profits comes from purchasing. With budgets in the millions, even a 10% margin is more than tenfold of what you make during the design phase.
      And it’s especially the top designers that are extremely picky when choosing their clients. It goes both ways.

    My designer advice to people who don’t know where to start would be look up some RUclips videos of different design styles, write down and take screenshots what you like or don’t from each one and then take that to your designer. A picture speaks more than thousands words sometimes.
    Also pro tip: if you want a house that doesn’t look straight out of a catalogue try to mix styles and don’t worry about having it all together so soon. The best houses are built over time, that way every corner you see has a bit of family history

    I feel like the biggest problem is a designer that makes you feel uncomfortable about changing directions. You want her to catch your vibe, which I do not see happening from her reactions, but just lots of pressure just to PICK. If she'd make you feel comfortable you'd better articulate the needs. At the end of the day, you are the one to pay, please do not feel pressured into anything. Good luck!

    Valeria, I,too, am a European transplant...with disdain for this modern aesthetic your designer has grabbed onto. She perhaps does not feel or understand
    your soul. Don't let her buy anything else lol.. None of this looks like you, other than perhaps a few chandeliers.
    Have her take you to a store so you can point out pieces you love and she should be able to construct a cohesive rendering from your choices.
    All this looks like cold pieces at high retail pricing.
    Just my two cents.

And I love how you say that in your mind “this is vintage” and on the perspective shown by d the designer, it’s totally different and you are scared to tell what’s in your mind 😂 happened to me as well! Good luck with the remodeling, I’m sure it will be perfect! And add some big plants in some rooms, it helps giving this “lively/earthy” thingy!

    Honestly nothing against the designer but I would change it, in things like this, you want someone who can understand your style and vision and also be experienced in what you are looking for, she seems to be experienced in modern and in trend things vs, more deep understanding of timelessness and bold details, you need a space that is both functional but also express your video in life, think of emotions you want to feel while at home, moods, light, movement, flow, textures, metals, earthiness, temperature, ect. There needs to be a discussion about this before you even come up with a design. I would say based on your comments to look into eclectic, georgian, morrocan, minimalistic and traditional, I feel like a mix of these is what you guys could work on.

    Hilarious that people are blaming the designer! Did we all watch the same video? Did you catch the part where V changed her mind a week ago and the designer had to scrap her original designs? Anyone who knows anything about design knows that one small change can change EVERYTHING and when the client communicates that they like something and then claims that they do not it again changes EVERYTHING! Do you know how long it takes to render 1 room? 5-12 hours depending on the details. It couldn’t be further from the Sims. She put her kids in picture frames for crying out loud! I’m so tired of this clickbait because that’s exactly what it is. A dramatic headline to pull people in, but this could be very damaging to someone’s livelihood and I bet you couldn’t care less as long as you have your views and likes. I keep seeing people say that your style is more McGee and Co 😂 . Do yourself a favor and go to target and buy all the farmhouse California coastal that your heart desires and be as basic as the rest of them ✌️

    I think the issue here is you're rushing to "complete" your home, when in reality the pieces that you will cherish are going to take time to find over several years... only YOU know what you like and sometimes you won't be able to explain or describe to someone else why you like this quirky piece of furniture or seemingly random colour combination etc. Overall, the designs beautiful but there's no character or charm attached to them. I'd also advise adding more pops of colour here and there through art or a cool vase, a lamp... anything really

    I dont think this interior design is what you are looking for. I would keep it traditional, classy, but go playful with details and furniture. But keep it functional. The ideas were for me more of a display room and less like home. I dont think this is the right vibe for you... And the comment section is not feeling it either.

    Valeria! Your opinion is so good! It would be soo much better to keep more of the vintage vibe, much cozier as well. Just one thought 🥰

    Most beautiful home is not about about a certain 'vibe' that people try to have, but a expression of personality of the people living in as well as the house itself over years and years. ''Impressive'' house has ''vibe'' yes, but beautiful home has personality. That is why we all love old houses so much. It might be a disservice to both the house and the family when you change a lots of things over a short period of time right after moving in. Because you like the personality of the house when you first saw it, you bought it. Then you remodel to the point of nothing looks the same, and so you might end up disliking it...

    Would be perfect to have a design that even when you have a mess it(and please, every parent knows with kids there is always a mess) still looks good. I feel like today designers makes projects that need to be perfect clean to actually look good and it is impossible in real life. Because life is full of colours. Maybe some Hamptons style would be more cozy and little bit vintage for you Valeria. Lots of love❤️

    • @petrakautska736
      @petrakautska736 Год назад

      I actually think its the opposite. Life is messy, so you want a clean base and style that can be cluttered with other things and still look somehow Good. You don’t want to start with already cluttered atmosphere of your home and that even add to it later.

    • @nikolajonczyk1675
      @nikolajonczyk1675 Год назад +1

      Yes you are right. But I didn’t mean it needs to be cluttered, it is just one colour in this project just like Valeria said like in a studio not a real house.

    I feel a bit sorry for the designer. She is constantly interrupted, has to go along with weird jokes, never gets a true positive appreciation, and her clients go on their phone meanwhile she presents her work to answer messages they cannot answer 15 minutes later ....

    You can always use your bedroom nightstand as sidetables in the family room (the one with the huge couch and picture frames on wall) if it's proving too difficult to incorporate the nightstands in your master bedroom design.

    Feels like you're looking for more warmth, organic textures and cosy vibes with classic pieces rather than sleek/modern 😊 this white/beige scheme is beautiful but it doesn't feel homey (like you said, feels like straight out of a catalog)...it could use some depth, in texture and color ?
    It's hard when you don't have the right words to describe what you want, but it also feels like maybe the designer doesn't understand your vibe 😕 anyway good luck with everything and the outcome will be beautiful!

  • @sandielauver3760

    Renders are beautifully done…. It seems you are not sure what you want? Why not take the time to find a few furniture pieces you love. Introduce them to the designer. It looks like you have a wonderful relationship with your designer and she seems to be working hard to meet your expectations but it’s hard when those expectations keep changing…I’m sure your home will turn out beautiful and you’ll have beautiful space to start creating years of wonderful memories.

    i think you should find pictures of rooms that you like that you could give your designer.. descriptive words are not enough because it's too confusing. take the photos you like and point out what elements you find attractive. i find when i create a pinterest board the same things i love keep being brought up again and again and again

    Have a look at the modern f Provence style. I think it will suit you the most. The style that the designer showed its way to modern for this type of houses , it's more for recent trend modern glass houses with hight ceilings. You need a more cozy atmosphere with some vintage details in the interior

    What the?!?! The house is a stunner you don't need to be doing all this. Actually not anyone else's place to tell you what to do with your home but I think it looks better now vs what it's going to be after a million dollars is dropped on it.

    I feel like transitional, mid-century modern styles would suit you much more.

    Not sure if this is the right designer for you guys. She's very defensive and almost every room had problems. Doesn't seem like she's actually designing for you. This is a family home. The kids rooms are bland and have no character or joy.

    Is so sad that the people like to put hate on other. From my perspective the designer is doing a great work, this thing never take like one reunion because this is the house when a family is goint to growth, is a big thing, and for other hand Valeria and Gary, even with the yes or no, are doing what they thinks is better for their home. Please if you are no making a kind comment please don't comment then.

    couldn't envision the pool construction properly, but hopefully you will reconsider the two-step stairs around it (if that's what your designer is offering) for the sake of safety - it might be too pointy and dangerous for the kids
