ANOTHER THING I LIKE TO DO, on my Grandfather's 16 generation farm there had almost always been a saw mill that we operated for ourselves and others.. The first sawmill was powered by water and a big water wheel, but unfortunately one day my Grandfather saw two men come racing past him in a black Model "T" truck and in the back of it was all the mechanicals and the turbine that powered our family saw mill that the stole and were never caught... After a bit my Grandfather decided to build another one as he needed to get that business going again for everybody, only this time it was going to be powered by a gasoline motor and that way he could build it up closer to the farm house where somebody would always be around to keep an eye on it so nothing could be stolen again..... I am totally enjoying your site, mainly because it brings back so very many GREAT MEMORIES of good times on the family farm... Thanks Again and GOD BLESS.... (still waiting to hear who won that gorgeous Double Bit Axe and whoever it is should be very proud to have it...)
ice to see another alternative saw mill set up. Toying with the idea of setting something up. Thanks for your channel. I'll be itnerested to see what you come up with.
I am fortunate that I met a gentleman with a sawmill that lives near me. I had a bunch of trees blow down about 2 months ago, and we have had one milling session, and are about to have another. I have no specific plans for the lumber, but it's so cool to have lumber from trees from your own property. BTW, his mill is an old, belt-driven, 42" blade circular saw mill, run by a diesel engine. It's an OSHA nightmare. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. As Wranglerstar says: "My brain is my safety device."
I've read alot of good comments about these... and mods as well. All in all I do believe I'm going to get one myself. You can mill everything to build your own house. Endless possibilities..A must have!
That's fantastic. I bet their wedding was gorgeous. That scene on the lake was picturesque. Side note, when I get my land I want to get one of those saw mills. I've seen them on other people's videos and they're awesome.
+BluegrassBushcraft Thank you! We plan on extending the track and bolting it down to concrete for a better cut, but for now it works good for benches and fence posts.
+Shane Winters Congratulations Shane!! I'm here for you brother! Let me know if i can help! Haven't had a chance to check out your channel yet, are you going to film your progress?
Well first I'm a female. Lol. 2nd my channel as of now is dedicated to my daughters singing. 3rd heck yes we will video everything!!!! We live in south Louisiana so it will be a long process
Shane. Just read your blog. I wish you happiness and success with your homestead in Tennessee. I know you will love it. I was born and lived the first 13 years of my life in East Tennessee. I still have more relatives than I can easily count in Tennessee. To me, it is one of the most beautiful places on the face of this earth. As I said, I wish you, hour husband and your fine family the best. May God's blessing be upon you and your family. Have a great day.
My wife and I are wanting to start a homestead. We have to first figure out if we want to stay in Arkansas or move to Idaho. We are giving it 3 years to decide and let our youngest daughter turn 18.
Sorry to hear you have such problem with Stihl, I own an 009, 012, and 063. But all these are 20yrs and older, never had any issues unless I drop them and cost me $400 for new handle, but better than $1100 for new one.havent had any experience with the new ones but like everything else seems like quality goes down.
Stihl is a good saw but I like a Husky way better. I work on them things and in any area around here you see Huskies. A 55 rancher will cut almost anything down. I have several that have not ran in a few months like 6 or 7 months and they will start up in 2 or 3 pulls. Great video ~!~!
Boo luquette I bought a Poulin chainsaw a few years ago at a garage sale. I now know why he wanted to get rid of it lol. if all their product is like this, I don't EVER wanna get another Poulin brand of anything.
when cutting a tree that's being held up you should make a bit of an under cut so your piece doesn't have a chance to peel the bark when cutting through. just my two cents.
I have a love/hate relationship with Harbor Freight. You just never know if what you have bought from them will last or not . But ,I do like to buy their low end hand tools as I tend to lose mine . I've been going back and forth about buying one of their 6500 watt generators. I would hate to spent that much money on it and it fail when I need it . Do you have any experience with them ? I enjoyed this video a lot.
+Tommy Yandle We use the 4500 watt on the farm and I have to say I have been very impressed! We have used it for well over two years with no problems. The predator engine is great! I actualy installed one on my home built generator. I would say it is as good as any generator from loves of home depot if not better.
Thank you for your reply. I'm feeling stronger about it now. I live in a suburb and my area rarely looses power but I'm trying to become prepared as much as I can for any SHTF possibility. This would be a major commitment of funds and I really need to get it right the first time .
Are the Harbor Freight Saw mills worth it? I was looking at people's opinions on them some enthusiastically reonmended them where as others said not to and save up the money for a Wood Mizer. I don't think ill need it for much more than cutting 2'x4's and other small lumber from logs to get my homestead started.
+kaleb stavneak They are perfect for what you want. Just buy the cooks sawblades. I an going to be making some key modifications to the sawmill in the next few weeks and will have a video explaning how to and why the modifications are needed. If you have the money buy a better sawmill, if you have the skills to modify the saw than I recomend the Harbor frieght.
The Good of the Land friend of mine has this saw he has cut alot of wood one thing he did was to put cheap brushes on the guide rollers to insure there always clean.
+Damon Diehl Wood mizer is way better. I have another video where we extend the tracks to 21 ft. In the next few weeks IWill be welding axels onto the frame and finishing up the sawmill in preparation for logging our 20 acres. Are you subbed to the channel?
+Andrew Roberts I have a new vid on the way. The track is junk and you will need to build a bigger one. If I had to do it again I might go with a woodland mills. They have come way down on their prices.
4:46 "Heavy Wind" ? Branches, leaves, and water show otherwise. I would have dug a bit around some of the roots at ground level, cut some of the roots on the one side and pushed the tree over with the tractor. But I understand if you all just wanted the headache of just dealing with sawdust rather than fixing disturbed soil too.
Let me start by saying I am not a tree hugger. But I would've left that tree there.. just set up chairs around it..you're going to be there for quite a while the wedding is only for one day
for the price you just can't beat this little mill.

+John Sayewich Jr. What a great story! Thanks for sharing, this is exactly why I love youtube!
ice to see another alternative saw mill set up. Toying with the idea of setting something up. Thanks for your channel. I'll be itnerested to see what you come up with.
Congratulations to the neighbors! I really like the easy listening background music you chose for this video.

These videos and that background of your homestead makes me want to spend my free time helping you out!!
Looks like a great mill for the price 👍
Really like the saw mill, will look again at Harbor Freight.
Welcome guys, look forward to watching your dream come to fruition .I wish you health were good enough to do the same good luck.
That's a pretty amazing thing you did for your neighbor.
thats awesome of you to help them out with their wedding
Always dreamed of having a mill. That one is nice. Thanks for sharing
+BluegrassBushcraft Thank you! We plan on extending the track and bolting it down to concrete for a better cut, but for now it works good for benches and fence posts.
Excited to see what videos you put out. Gotta get caught up on what you already have. Impressive work on that axe head.
Nice, Would have been a blast to use.
This is a good video on the usefulness of a band saw mill but really I like the tractor the best.
+Dan Fraser she is a beast! Think Im gonna build a log cabin!
lol love the little bench idea, easy, practical, beautiful!
That was cool brother. Very nice indeed.
+Kraven Moorehead Thank you sir!
Man, I want one of those mills. All the trees we've lost in recent storms could be put to good use.
+John Capps well just load them on a trailer and bring them on up! Making 40 lbs of breakfast sausage as we speak.
Mmm...
great video was brought here by wranglerstar and I im in the market for a saw mill. thanks for making
Puppy 🐶 🐕 dawgs enjoying the attention
Looks like a lot of fun. You do great work on those old axes. I've tried it and can't make them look half that good.
We bought property in TN. we can't wait to build our homestead!!!!!
+Shane Winters Congratulations Shane!! I'm here for you brother! Let me know if i can help! Haven't had a chance to check out your channel yet, are you going to film your progress?

Looking forward to your journey, with positive progression. Love Cory and WrangleStar. Would Love to Win the Axe!
very nice, wish I could harvest my own lumber. I also wish I had better neighbors lol
+walter smith Ha! Me too!
That looks like too much fun!
+Sam I Am Cant wait to finish the new track!
Can't get more locally sourced than that 😄
I like helping my neighbors as well but I would have a hard time using that nice oak though! Looks great though!
My wife and I are wanting to start a homestead. We have to first figure out if we want to stay in Arkansas or move to Idaho. We are giving it 3 years to decide and let our youngest daughter turn 18.
Looking for property ourselves. Good job on the bench.
Way cool. You did well.
I'd have liked a bit more dialog about the sawmill itself. But a good video none the less. Thanks.
Nice work!

Great job bro!!! Get the hutzl saw!!! Better than any Stihl and cheaper. I have the 0666 is the 066 stihl version. It’s a beast for $300
Found you through Wrangler Star. Looking good.

GOODMAN HELPING OUT A NABER WAY IT SHOOD BE LOVE YOUR VIDS NEW SUB
Great video! I can't wait for future content on this channel, I know I'll learn a lot! :)
Well I'm gonna need one of those
Hunter , Hudson and sawyer makes one of these that are made in usa that are about 300 more and are built heavier and have a good guarantee
That's very neighborly.
When neighbor is done with the benches, they will be nice around the campfire at the homestead.
Double thumbs up!
Harbor Freight sawmill? I didn't know they made one!?
most large atomotive belts should be able to flex 1/2 inch if that helps with tensioning something like this if your still doing it.
Thanks Cody!
when cutting a tree that's being held up you should make a bit of an under cut so your piece doesn't have a chance to peel the bark when cutting through. just my two cents.
+Ryan Sweet, thank you! I will keep that in mind.
Your blade should pluck a "B" flat if the tension is correct.
Do we get to see the benches? Maybe a shot or two of them in use at the wedding?
Can the blade guides be adjusted closer to the log you’re cutting?
I have a love/hate relationship with Harbor Freight. You just never know if what you have bought from them will last or not . But ,I do like to buy their low end hand tools as I tend to lose mine .

How do you like the harbor freight sawmill. I've been thing about picking up there 20 tons splitter, seen a lot a good reviews.
So what is your opinion of the Harbor Freight sawmill?
Cool!
How do you like the harbor freight sawmill? Had it been durable

friend of mine has this saw he has cut alot of wood one thing he did was to put cheap brushes on the guide rollers to insure there always clean.
Do you have any thoughts on the tracks? The frame looks a little flimsy. Have you ever used a Wood-Mizer, to see/feel the difference?
+Damon Diehl Wood mizer is way better. I have another video where we extend the tracks to 21 ft. In the next few weeks IWill be welding axels onto the frame and finishing up the sawmill in preparation for logging our 20 acres. Are you subbed to the channel?
+Damon Diehl check out my new vid on building tracks. Wood mizer is better without a doubt. With a little love the harnor freight can hold its own.
better send that saw to wranglestar to sharpen.
What do you think about Your mill now that you ha e had it almost a year? I️ am looking at buying this mill. Would you recommend it ?
+Andrew Roberts I have a new vid on the way. The track is junk and you will need to build a bigger one. If I had to do it again I might go with a woodland mills. They have come way down on their prices.
No chainsaw chaps. Something that only cost a few bucks, take 30 seconds to put on and could save your life.
You need an electric winch to pull that for you so you don't have to push it by hand.
Aw man...took down a perfectly good tree for a 20-minute ceremony.
+Alfonso Munoz Lol! The wife is always right! They are also building a boat dock and this tree was in the way.
What's wrong with the chainsaw??
will that mill cut down to one inch
not quite. mine does about 1 1/4"
4:46 "Heavy Wind" ? Branches, leaves, and water show otherwise.
I would have dug a bit around some of the roots at ground level, cut some of the roots on the one side and pushed the tree over with the tractor. But I understand if you all just wanted the headache of just dealing with sawdust rather than fixing disturbed soil too.
Nice bench hope no women snaked their dresses on the wood bench.
Let me start by saying I am not a tree hugger. But I would've left that tree there.. just set up chairs around it..you're going to be there for quite a while the wedding is only for one day
Good video just learn how to work your chainsaw lol
