Great video mate, got to do these on my brothers A1 so nice refresher on getting them out. Did mine years ago, I remember they were a right pain so perfect timing finding you video. Thanks, Vinny. 👍👍👍😊😊
Excellent Mark. To be honest i'd like to do another one. The biggest piece of advice I could give you is, do it somewhere warm. If you can do it in the hot sun, or put a fan heater on the rubbers, it will make it 95% easier. I did this job again in the summer, and it was a totally different story. So easy!
Merci pour cette vidéo, j'ai la même moto et quand j'ai voulu refaire l'étanchéité de mes carburateurs, je n'ai jamais eu autant de mal à les sortir sur une moto, tout est rentré au chausse-pied, là-dedans!!!
I've done this many times. I would get them ultrasonically cleaned while there off. Carb cleaner is ok, but ultrasonic cleaning gets in all the places the carb cleaner won't. I would also Polish the float valve seats and fit new float valves. You can cable tie the airbox rubbers back to give more room when refitting. Hope it worked out ok.
Im doing the same job @ 35 F. I thought about taking the airbox out I dont know how you pulled that off theres no room ....what about going back in ???
It's not going to be easy in those temperatures. Everything needs to be soft and malleable. It was really cold when I made this video. It is possible but if you wait till its warmer it will take half the time.
Good video on one of the most frustrating jobs on any 4 cylinder 80's Kawasaki but that background dance "music" is just not needed. TBH, I prefer the sound of your compressor! :)
Carb rubbers. Piece of piss here in Straya lol! And no icing kits - could do with more of that in the cooling system though over here! Your bike looks really clean, it doesn't look like its been ridden through any winters over there.
It was SO cold doing this, i'm waiting till the summer if I need to do it again. Thanks, the bike is looking cleaner now. I can't wait to do the paintwork in the summer.
Do you by chance have a video reinstalling the carbs? I have never had this much frustration on a bike! I have them in place I just cannot get the airbox boot springs on, any tips?
Hi Taylor. Get the springs on at the bottom and work your way round. I used a L shaped tool from a pick set. That made it so much easier. If they keep rolling back, sometimes the rubbers are too worn?
I put the springs on before I put the carbs in. So if you see how they are near the start of the video, on number 2/3, do this on all 4. When the carbs are in, and the rubbers from the airbox are seated properly, just roll the springs forward. Easy!
On my maxim x I pulled the boots back through the air box....much much easier.....not sure if this box is same set up. Plus I always changed the jet valve seat o ring .....critical imho.
If you have a UK bike and th carbs without the anti icing, go se Kawasaki they might still honour the recall and fit new anti ice carbs. for free. I did back in 2003, £1300 of new carbs for free. I would pour some boiling water over the rubbers before trying to remove, also completely loosen the engine side clips.

Thanks for your great video I'm getting the same motorcycle tomorrow. And it will need carb cleaning. been sitting for a while

I’ve got the 900 eliminator and she needs her carbs cleaned way bad. She’s only running on choke
@@chrisbajema8002 It will be the pilot jets I'd imagine.

Got to be careful with these black painted CV Carbs, the ultrasonic cleaning bath can take paint off. 👍👍
@vazza7504 if they're original finish the ultrasonic won't take it off. If they have been badly repainted however, you're quite correct, nightmare
Ho yeah it get cold in Spain seriously cold. If you warm the inlet and air box rubbers up with a heat gun you’ll find it a lot easier.

Did you ever check and adjust the float height on these carbs? This is 5e last job I need to do before I re-instal mine.
Yes I did, it's a little while ago now though. I made a set of "goal posts" set at the right height that I could hold over each float.

Project Moto awesome. My patience level hit about -10 as you can imagine! I’ll try it out.
Aaaaag I've to do this job soon😓

I make the same but now she don't want to start
Excellent job ❤ dreading this but it has to be done old girls birthday 40 year's old ill have to treat her 😂
I can only imagine that’s what it’s like giving birth
I'm sure this was more painful...
Yeah its pretty bad i made this on my 750R too pain in the arse

Yes Bobbie the hot water would have been a good idea, I suppose you could use a hot air gun too.
loose the music
