Also, that scorpion mode, I can totally imagine autobots finding the "ruins" of his temple mode, and accidentally awaken it, where it transforms into scorpion mode, and starts heading toward a major city.
"No matter how crazy this market gets, a city not scaled to deluxes is still a bit too ludicrous to be considered pheasable." And then along came Fanstoys...
Name: Scorponok. Faction: Decepticon. Class: Titan class. Alt modes: city, giant emperor scorpion, and robot. Subgroup: Headmasters. Motto:” Kindness is no virtue, and cruelty is no vice.”
a lot more interesting than the upcoming 'just g1' Hasbro one. that's why I love about transformers that is now lost for 'just g1 with knees and ankle tilts'
Definitely get Utopia! He oscillates between my favorite and my second-favorite TF EVER. Just an awesome toy that still gives me joy. I would even watch your review of it even though I've had it for over a year haha
I'm putting together two unique teams of good/bad guys seperate from TF fiction from (mostly) third party figures, and I think the Devil Stinger version of this will make a solid bruiser for the bad guys, alongside Nero Rex.
"No matter how crazy this market gets, a citybot scaled to Deluxes is still a touch too ludicrous to consider feasible." You're right, Vangelus. It'll probably be scaled to Masterpieces.
To be fair, real scorpions do lay their tails flat to one side when resting. And I should know, as I have seen this first hand at Wentworth Farm and Garden Centre in Sheffield/Rotherham (sort of on the border between the two cities)
Dear Lord this is a beast. Yes you need Utopia now..........which is awaiting his nemesis hopefully Skorponok hits soon. Thank you for the detailed review. At this price point its nice to buy with confidence.
+David Lenshyn I want to know if we'll ever be getting a Citybots Fortress Maximus. This and Utopia are epic beasts and I would love to see Maketoys' take on Fortress Maximus.
Given how tall it is, does it NEED to look up? What could it need to look up at? Everything it is likely to be killing will be on the floor below it. So the look down thing seems fine to me.
Serpentara get lost, Z has an all new zord...1 that doesn't run on double A batteries. Look out rangers here comes the Scorpion Destroyer Megazord. What, he said come up with our own theories.....
So, going on a year now, Vangelus, how is Pandinus holding up for you in terms of quallity control and engineering? I've wanted it for quite some time, but the price tag is _the_ biggest issue holding me back.
BAH i saw this live at TFN, how do you have room for one? i assume if you still have it you have to sleep and eat in a small corner left in your place . Imagining the amount of sweat that would be involved for this if you still had none led lamps, doing any kind of "on screen transformation filming for things thing big is always a hassle right? or im i just not pro yet? Good vid as every puts me off wanting one for cost, size and the fiddly wibbliness of the transformation
The one thing a video really screws with is the transformation, haha It's a lot easier when you can have him sitting in your lap like a small dog-sized robot scorpion
it would be interesting to see an "action sequence" done with this guy as hes so big compared to a deluxe you could do that whole "the FEMALE one might scorponok SHE has the KEY".....but .....mmmmmm would need a bigger filming table XD
But how much do u like it compared to that other 3d party Scoroponoc (that is bigger but does not transform, has way simpler articulation, is really not very visualy interesting AND is representing a headmaster without a headmaster)? sorry something got stuck in my throuth. :)
+Jon Ryder Yeah Sentinel made that one and its upwards of 500 smackarunnees! Forget that. $400.00 is a lot to bite yes but certain re-sellers cough cough offer free shipping which is a song for this bad boy. If you own Utopia its a must have....gotta complete the Trifecta which includes Trypticon for sure!!!!!!!! I hope MakeToys hits up Trypticon! When you hold Utopia believe me you are well getting your money worth with plastic. Your getting WAY more than any combiner period which are more expensive and the ratchets are second to none here. Once you have these in hand you will never need a City Bot replacement ......period.
+David Lenshyn Yeah he looks freaking beast dawg. I had no idea that the other one for a hundred dollars more. Are they crazy, are they out of their minds dude. XD Guess that size aint everything. :)
Its all a matter of perspective in my humble my opinion Hasbro's Metroplex is floppy and a dissapointment. I hear whispers Fort Max will be that much more robust. At the end of the day I would rather save and spend more for better quality. I mean you can put Skorponok in awesome poses how cool is that. I have owned Utopia since it came out and each day I walk by the display it never ceases to amaze. In all reality none of these city bots can ever scale properly so to me the best build / aesthetics wins over size.
+David Lenshyn Well yeah i suppose. Personally i like the estetics of this one more, it just looks more interesting to me. But again just my opinion, but scorponok is just a amazing design period. ;)
Agreed fellow collector! At the end of the day this can be a VERY expensive hobby. At the rate all of these options are coming out you really have to be sure the purchase is sound + fits your collection style. Its funny I grew up in the 80's........it seems the cast for G1 keeps getting larger and larger LOL I gotta cut this off by season 3!
Won this guy in one of John Garringer's Contests just last week. John just shipped him today so he's en route and I absolutely can't wait to get this guy in hand! Best $20.00 I've EVER spent!
And yep... He's awesome... Although my collection is solely focused on MP aesthetics and scale, I will most certainly be keeping this guy. He will just have his own personal floating shelf somewhere in my office.
Fooled?... Not sure what you mean there. I'm looking at Pandinus now, sitting on my counter top just behind my monitor. Still amazing. And still pumped that I won it from Garringer's channel.
+Conner Jones no. Pandinus is 14 inches while G. Metroplex is two feet, ten inches taller and his arms are more lanky than the bug city bot. I still want them to make a Trypticon figure so people can reenact that one scene from the post movie intro where Metroplex spins him around.
@@Vangelus if you do ever purchase somethinf from warbotron do not perform any strength tests. They will break. Warbotron is infamous for their lack of tolerances. Some people have reports of arms being torn off of some figures. Ratchet joints on ankle tilts will break more often than not. It's a major dissapointment to what would have been amazing figures otherwise.
Pandinus, Pandinus, Pandinus. I got broads on Cybertron, transforming a gun into Megatron. Autobots at the scanners, we'll be just fine with the wreckers. Toy reviews, Vangelus, now metroplex look like a pandinus. Roll out that is my motto, fans go decepto for auto, I hope the alert call gets through. I got broads on cybertron, transforming a gun into megatron. Autobots at the scanners, we'll be just fine with the wreckers. Toy reviews, Vangelus, metroplex look like a pandinus............Yah......Pandinus.....Pandinus, Pandinus, Pandinus......
I was all for falling in love with this, but I dunno... I think it looks a bit too busy for me, and the proportions of every mode other than the city mode are not to my tastes. I really don't like the chain tail on the headmaster, and without knowing the exact GBP price, know there's no way I will ever want this enough to pay that price for it. There needs to be a middle ground with these giant cityformers. HasTak's efforts are generally great robots with alt modes that are too simplified from the originals (and with lots of what made the originals great missing, especially Fort Max), and the third party ones tend to be far too complex and do too much. I just want more posable and slightly more detailed versions of the originals and no one seems to be doing that right now.
That's insane, I guess shipping went into it? Its also insane that they sell third party toys on retail in your area! I'm planning on getting the Black Zarak version of this toy
Also, that scorpion mode, I can totally imagine autobots finding the "ruins" of his temple mode, and accidentally awaken it, where it transforms into scorpion mode, and starts heading toward a major city.
14:29 Prayer chambers. I'd think of them as prayer chambers. :D
I seriously love the idea that this guy is the living temple of some demented cult.
ZimMan2 I'd join the shit out of that cult
The Temple of Nod…….
ZimMan2 oh.......I would hide money in them.........we have rather different views
To be fair, actual scorpions do just flop their tails to one side when relaxed...
The openings on the feet are where he keeps his energon goodies.
Also rather amazing to see you reviewing this guy on the table.
"No matter how crazy this market gets, a city not scaled to deluxes is still a bit too ludicrous to be considered pheasable."
And then along came Fanstoys...
23:54 I saw that shot and thought to myself why did Vangelus make the figure to jump on it's own tail and fold it's arms up.
Hot damn that thing is MASSIVELY GARGANTUAN!!! The real question is, do you get to keep the review sample?
Gustavo Barrios I think yes
Oh! My! Goodness! - that was a very impressive production considering the size of this one! Well done.
Name: Scorponok. Faction: Decepticon. Class: Titan class. Alt modes: city, giant emperor scorpion, and robot. Subgroup: Headmasters.
Motto:” Kindness is no virtue, and cruelty is no vice.”
25:10
Wait, what is that next to Pandinus?!
It's gigantic!!! Is that an official figure or third-party?
its gigantic action scorponok its an licensed third party figure
a non-transforming scorpinok by sentinel.
Van gels you are by far my favorite video reviewer!
I hope you get Utopia, too! I love Citybots, and I've been wanting to see more of that one. =)
a lot more interesting than the upcoming 'just g1' Hasbro one. that's why I love about transformers that is now lost for 'just g1 with knees and ankle tilts'
Sad boi hours
My sentiments exactly.
I had never really paid attention to this release before, but now that I've seen this review, I need it. SO. VERY. BADLY.
its actively mad toys like these make me smile soo much !
Thanks for the head master comparison, I think you were the first one to show that. Bravo!
Definitely get Utopia! He oscillates between my favorite and my second-favorite TF EVER. Just an awesome toy that still gives me joy. I would even watch your review of it even though I've had it for over a year haha
I'd use those foot-flaps as some sort of Zoids-style Big Gun stabilizer.
Saw this at TFcon Charlotte last year
Obviously, the openings on the feet mean they are Elevator Shoes.
I'm putting together two unique teams of good/bad guys seperate from TF fiction from (mostly) third party figures, and I think the Devil Stinger version of this will make a solid bruiser for the bad guys, alongside Nero Rex.
You can pull off some freaking wall poster worthy poses with that
I would totally buy a small version of this character.
Great review Vangelus!
Sweet christmas four hundred dollars?!? I think i'll stick with the G1 Scorpanok i still have from when i was like eight.
"No matter how crazy this market gets, a citybot scaled to Deluxes is still a touch too ludicrous to consider feasible."
You're right, Vangelus. It'll probably be scaled to Masterpieces.
I wonder if the removable ammo pieces are meant to be gargo for the temple? I mean it was supposed to be energon refinery plant.
HORRIOR G A R G O
This Scorponok has a major Bane motif going on...
...Scorp-Bane-ok.
To be fair, real scorpions do lay their tails flat to one side when resting. And I should know, as I have seen this first hand at Wentworth Farm and Garden Centre in Sheffield/Rotherham (sort of on the border between the two cities)
I heard that they are making a Utopia KO!
Hope it's in my budget!!!
Yikes, it looks like I'm going to have to sell a huge chunk of my collection just to make room for this guy.
this shoulda been a wfc/foc boss
When I see that temple base mode all I can cant help but recite is peace is a lie....there is only passion
I wonder if Make Toys will make a version of this that is based on Black Zarak.
This toy.... is straight-up BADASS.
The base mode look like a prison and excision building
Given how tall it is, does it NEED to look up? What could it need to look up at? Everything it is likely to be killing will be on the floor below it. So the look down thing seems fine to me.
Brotherhood of Nod Recolor When?
It looks like a Tiberium Refinery!
and then Transformers Titan returns releases a real Scorponok figure
As far as we know we're getting Fort Max, and Trypt.
Now with less impressive engineering, a less impressive design, and cheaper plastic.
"cheaper plastic"
Not this shit again..
cannonfodder4000 XD
Liam Pascoe Yup, and he's only a measly titan master.
Ever have a ratchet as beefy as the Fortress Maximus G1 re release legs?
2:32 Siege Omega Supreme and Earthrise Skorponok beg to differ
Very nice, but do I need it since I already have the "Gigantic Action" one (which is in scale with Fort Max and Metroplex)?
TITANS RETURN SCORPONOK before titans return scorponok?
Serpentara get lost, Z has an all new zord...1 that doesn't run on double A batteries. Look out rangers here comes the Scorpion Destroyer Megazord.
What, he said come up with our own theories.....
Use for those chambers?
Kick prisons. Maybe he's going to kick a lil' Headmaster guy to death, maybe he's going to capture it. Bwahahahaha!
Maybe he can can eject prisons from it and then stomp them!
Lol! Imagine him using a soccer (football) style attack with the prisoner as the ball! XD
So, going on a year now, Vangelus, how is Pandinus holding up for you in terms of quallity control and engineering? I've wanted it for quite some time, but the price tag is _the_ biggest issue holding me back.
This videos is great
That thing is cool but I'm sure it's 2-3 times what I'd be willing to pay.
Does it scale with metroplex?
Hi, I'm new to the show as well as an aspiring collector and I must know, where the heck do store all of this awesomeness?
Can u do CW Bruticus? You
BAH i saw this live at TFN, how do you have room for one? i assume if you still have it you have to sleep and eat in a small corner left in your place .

I guess this is where my Tax Refund money is going to... My Titan Returns Fort Max needs someone to tango with.
Not a giant panda...not happy.
Not going to throw it? >:D
VISIBLE. FACE. SYNDROME. On something like this, that's INEXCUSABLE...
In which mode? He has no face in any mode but his robot mode. He is a head robot after all.
Look at the back of the mini-fig in its robot mode... He has Visible Face Syndrome on his back! This is also why I hate Titans Return!
+Jim van der Kolk yeah it automatically means titan's return sucks jk
Well, I actually think it does... :/
But how much do u like it compared to that other 3d party Scoroponoc (that is bigger but does not transform, has way simpler articulation, is really not very visualy interesting AND is representing a headmaster without a headmaster)? sorry something got stuck in my throuth. :)

Well THIS ain't gonna fit in the Detolf
There a name involving a toe entrance in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 3.
Ha Rhino feet, Rhino feet now I round it all for you. Ah ah ah ah ah ah !sorry.
oh really
But is he big enough for fistfights with Generations Metroplex?
+Conner Jones no. Pandinus is 14 inches while G. Metroplex is two feet, ten inches taller and his arms are more lanky than the bug city bot. I still want them to make a Trypticon figure so people can reenact that one scene from the post movie intro where Metroplex spins him around.
+maneoj46 Unfortunate.
No, but the Gigantic Action one (shown towards the end) is. Vangelus did a great review of that one as well.
Cool
can you do warbotron
+Darius Brown I haven't currently got any Warbotron stuff
Mp- Soundwave
look at Machine boy they are making afordable warbotron toys.
Yep
@@Vangelus if you do ever purchase somethinf from warbotron do not perform any strength tests. They will break.

700 dollars...
not buying it no matter how good
Its 400 dollars? Who the hell sells it for 700?
cannonfodder4000 yes. 700 from the toy store in my area. I shit you not
That's insane, I guess shipping went into it? Its also insane that they sell third party toys on retail in your area!
I'm planning on getting the Black Zarak version of this toy
*Dem ratchets.*
