- Been thinking about working on this song since the album released...finally got myself into it ! What a song, what a drumming on this song, and the whole album !
On this video, I'm using a fantastic T-Cymbals custom hi-hat that I just recieved ! Low pitch, bright sound, super precise ! More like jazz hat, but I'm sure going to use it on some other music.

I also highly suggest to give Kriegsmaschine's full album (Apocalypticists) a few spins, because it is actually incredibly complex. I don't think you realize what sets Darkside apart.
@@x-Gingerbeard-x One of my favourite albums man, and he’s one of my favourite drummers. It’s not a criticism at all. I get his playing unique and complex, but I can play a fair few kriegsmachine and mgla tracks and I couldn’t even begin to play a benighted track. That’s not me trying to brag or put anyone down it’s just an observation, I’ve been playing for 20 years and spent a lot of my time playing black metal and grindcore.

The fact it took you 3 years to get from release to being able to actually play it is a huge testament to how insane Darkside is, and it's also a testament to how good you are to be able to emulate that. Awesome cover, I absolutely love it, this is one of my favorite metal songs because I think this is some of the most clinical drums I've ever heard.

I didn't even notice the pattern starting at about 00:50 but it is there, the album just needs more dynamics. This is why I like to watch this video so often. Shows you how intense darkside's drumming patterns are. Really good job with this cover.

AMAZING job man! The songs on this album pushed even Darkside to his limit. I remember he posted a picture at the end of the recording sessions with only a word: relief!

I have watched this cover more than 100 times and finally could not resist commenting on how amazing it is, especially the part that starts at 3:26; many still do not believe that Darkside played that complex pedals ... Thanks for sharing this Kevin!

The pedals are actually quite simple. It's just triplets. It's everything else over the pedals' pattern that's complex

Dude this cover was fucking insane! I only heard of dark side, MGLA, kriegsmachine etc. Fairly recently and I heard this song in particular a couple months ago for the first time and was completely blown away by the drumming and you fucking nailed it!

Holy fuck I think this is as close to perfect as a cover can get.
Love the groove at 3:30, not as difficult as it sounds. If I understand it correctly, right hand plays quarters, left hand dotted quarters, right foot and left hand basically play a triplet, with left foot added between right kicks, making them basically 16th note triplets in groups of four.
Not that I could play any of it as clean as Darkside or Kevin, good stuff!
I like to think of it as a 3 over 4 polyrythm where the left hand and feet play 3 and right 4.

If you go that way, everything is simple ! Complex drumming is always made of simple things after all ! When I heard this pattern, I was confused, then realized the 3 over 4 thing, but I was still confused about what it is exactly. In fact, the right hand was the more confusing because of the way it moves around the kit. I think the main difficulty with the pattern isn't just the 3 over 4, it is that you move around the drumkit your left and right hand but separately.
