- Crazy 250bpm stamina needed for that song.... From one of the album that change my view on drumming, and inspired me a lot of Mithridatic first album.

Fun fact, assuming he played 16th notes on his feet for 75% of the video and an average of 8th notes for the rest, he hit the bass drum over 5500 times in this video
you sound like a battered bass
I’m new here so bare with me pls. Why I see just ONE bass drum? Shouldn’t there be TWO bass drums?
@@peymannorouzi4165 Personal choice. There can be just one, or there can be two. One reason for having just one bass drum for both pedals is that it is easier to mix the sound. And one reason for having two bass drums is that it looks cooler. There are more reasons for both.
@@peymannorouzi4165 the choice btwn using a double pedal on one bass drum or a single on each of two bass drums is multifaceted-
Its an obvious space-saver to have one bass drum (and easier to load), not to mention its the format most new double kick drummers start with. Adding a second bass drum is something i didnt even consider until after 15 yrs of playing a double pedal.
The advantage of learning to play two bass drums (i say learning because switching from dbl pedal to two singles was an adjustment for me in multiple ways: sound, feel, setup) is clear if you can afford/have room for it...if youre playing just acoustically or with mics you can tune&dampen two bass drums to sound as close as possible to each other (as opposed to using triggers which can even them out perfectly). A dbl pedal on one BD will always sound and feel uneven- your slave pedal (non dominant foot) beater is always striking off center of the drum head, thus never giving a full sound like the main beater, and this also makes each strike feel different btwn your feet in terms of rebound etc. Two BDs eliminates this, as each pedal strikes true center and can feel equal as well as sound like two bass drums instead of more like one and a half...granted, with triggers to equalize sound and the skill level of Mr. Paradis here, one BD can work wonders!
Side note- its def a bit of a "metal thing" to grow your drum kit to great proportions and include lots of voice/sound options, and looking at my kit now, built on a rack surrounding me like im in a tank running on two bass drums...taking one away would just look weird!
@TupDigital as a drummer, who uses two bass drums opposed to only using one, I have a simple analogy I tell people. Having one bass drum with a double pedal gives the feeling of trying to jump on a trampoline when someone is in the process of jumping beside you. They have taken the energy out of the trampoline and it interrupts your rhythm. Having two bass drum negates this issue
I CANNOT BELIEVE I just saw this!!?!???!!!!! Holy. Fucking . Shit!!!!
I typed in this song’s drum cover as a joke, and then I witnessed a miracle. So impressed man, I’m out of the loop these days, but my god I hope you are jamming with some other people that can appreciate this as much as I just did. Outstanding

Love the slight imperfections in the bass drums. Let’s you know it’s real and not quantized. Makes this performance all the more impressive. Amazing.
No swivel, no doubles on feet. Just pure fuckin singles. Amazing.
Scary how this is the only drum cover I can find on this song. Its a fantastic one for sure.
Mayhem dont play this song live for a reason.
The only drum cover of this song on RUclips and I can see why. It's near impossible to keep up with HellHammer but you did a pretty amazing job.
*cough* George Kollias *cough* 300bpms for fun ...
@@dom3827 Keeping it up easily fades with age unfortunately
..... Fun fact. 250 bpm singles are mythical level, and can give you cardiac arrest
250 heel toe is essentially combined buzz rolling and trigger manipulation.....not achievable on a traditional set without triggers.
Lloyd Rees that’s just false. 250 is quite doable acoustically with heel-toe
@@KaiOwensDrums yes, With heel toe.... But not proper singles
Love seeing Hellhammer get some recognition for his work, awesome cover dude
Damn, this reminds me just how insane the drumming on Esoteric Warfare was.
It is honestly absolutely insane. The song Pandaemon in that album made me drop my jaw after a long time having thought I've stopped being impressed haha
Honestly, that album is as unsettling as Ordo Ad Chao, but so goddamn intense!!! Hellhammer is criminally underrated. And this dude just .. fucking did it live!
Watchers, Trinity, and then Pandaemon
UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! 😱😨
Watchers, Trinity, and then Pandaemon
UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! 😱😨
Absolutely not my style of Metal but as a new drummer, I have mad respect for the ability and skill it takes for this.
I almost never comment on YT but this time I had to. I love this song and it has great drum parts even by Hellhammer standards... and this is a perfect cover! Very well done!
Krinkle Bass thank you very much !
This is fucking brilliant. The drumming on Esoteric Warfare borders on ridiculous at times, you nailed it.
Listen to pandaemon I thought I've would not get my jaw to drop with everything I've heard in my lifetime but that song managed to do it after a long time of not having that feeling. Insane drumming in this album indeed
Dude! Thank you for this very impressive performance!!! This is my favourite song from Mayhem's previous album! This is proof of how Hellhammer's drumming is in another league.
1:57 - hey, that is my move :D
Awesome cover! I also took some inspiration and a lot of motivation to practise double bass from this album, especially the song Psywar!
Please make a video playing this 👍👍🤘
you think you invented that? lol
@John Wick Bit angry?
@John Wick Yeah and he'll be far after you, we'll miss you.
@@jons7506 No , it was a joke actually.
Just relax
I cant believe how much you've improved over the years, watching your old stabwound cover then watching this and the drumming you did for the last benighted album, its like 2 completely different drummers.
I am glad Mayhem has persisted and even innovated in this genre. The sick fucks that they are! \m/
damn now who needs the gym at these times when you got a song like this to work out too!
My gosh, it just doesn't let up at all. No wonder they don't play this one live.
can you imagine the guitarist saying "can we run that a couple more times?" 😂😂
FINALLY! Someone in a performance video that doesn’t edit their hits.
Who else does? Aside the obvious Aaron kitcher lol
I hope to play along to this song one day 😢
Kevin always demonstrates his amazing drumming skills, always pushing it to the limits, never a repetitive boring moment, hand speed, foot speed, always is second to none..
Hellhammer is a monster and has a very unique style. It's also crazy how he played in like 70 bands. Great job on this cover! The endurance needed for this song is on a different level. I think there's only 2 or 3 drum covers from Esoteric Warfare on the entire RUclips.
The devil is in hellhammer why he can plays sooooooo satanic fast.
Extreme metal requires maximum skill and devotion. In return, established bands get an attendance of 200, 300 people and can hope to sell a few thousand records...
Well most people won't identify with this music. It's rather extreme for the common man..
@@VitaTristis yeah. its for outcasts
As HellHammer once said "Black metal is for white people" lmao.
this is the first time ive ever seen you really struggle i think, wow crazy!
Wow. What a fantastic cover. Thank you so much for making this! This is actually my favorite Mayhem album because of how weird and different it is. The drumming is so under-appreciated, but you've shown it off here!
This guy fails the ”are you a robot” test every time.
Holy Fkk😮 Spot on, tight af, this is absolute masterclass drumming❤❤
This is just so insane. What a fucking precise machine you are!!! I could watch this a million times, man!!! Nothing but speechless. Subscribed instantly.
I can see how healthy your wrist, sir.
I can't even practice on my drum kit because my wrist always get hurt by the mouse pad due to playing game for a long time.
On the other hand, I couldn't give up my gaming habit.
So, I already happy just by watching drummer doing cover or giving their technic lesson on youtube..
Especially your channel..
Keep it up!
Thank you for this contribution. One of my favorite songs ever!
My friend ... you are a genius.
Wow !! Great job ! 👍👍👍
Brutal❗AWESOME COVER, Dude❗You nailed it❗❗❗
Awesome! Great cover, thanks! 👍🤘
i was laughing so hard because your skill is amazingly good, laugh of excitement! this vid really enjoyed me!
Absolutely insane! 😮👌🏼
Great drumming man! Hail Hellhammer and our fine Metal Music.
The whole song on single strokes 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 respect man
Seriously
Double strokes always sound uneven
0:56 Man that moeller blast on the left hand looks so siiiiick dood. Can't get the hang of it.
Good god almighty!!!! Your skills are unmatched!!
You're awesome 👏 great cover
Excellent....Like always!!!!♥️
Rhaaaaaaa ce jeu de tueur à la ride et les breaks de dingue. J'adore.
I enjoy examining each new cymbal setup you use for different covers. Reminds me of how I still tinker with adjusting and seeking to optimize my setup before nearly every band practice...now that i think of it though, thats a habit which has only emerged with years of experience as well as deepening dedication to the craft of metal drumming. Cheers
Unreal jamais vu des jambes aussi rapide 😱😱😱👏👏👏👏🥁🥁🥁🥁🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦
Yeah! Nice job! Hellhammer is a monster!
1:03 'You better not ruin my perfect take damn splash!' Sick as always Kevin!
love this comment
Wow, great endurance! I never listened to Mayhem so much (except De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas). For some reason this sound reminds me of Thorns. Would be nice to see a cover from them. For you a song like interface to god should be a no brainer^^
Yeah when this album came out many people thought it was a lot like Thorns haha
@@Ardathful @TheMojotov Snorre was very influential to Mayhem and for Euronymous, he wrote the riff for From The Dark Past (taken from early Thorns demo Grymyrk: "The Lovely Children"). Lots of Thorns influence on most of Mayhem's discography.
Also, Hellhammer drummed on the Thorns record.
Stellar Master Elite would be a great one to cover too
Wow! Though one can see it in your face that it is a big challenge for you - insane playing!
When Kevin Paradis struggles on the double bass you mesure how clean Hellhammer is ! Kudos to you though.
Triggering is a must
@@rogergarciabarcelo8742 triggering has nothing to do here....it's not about the power of the sound, it's about regularity. And triggers can't do anything about that.
@Gary White maybe. But for what i have seen of him Live, he's a beast of tightness. You can also check his work with Arcturus.
Don't be fooled. Hellhammer has played many songs this speed live a,d does just fine
I'm pretty sure Hellhammer plays this stuff with double strokes. Which is impressive, but all singles is just way harder. Kevin is all singles. Be like Kevin.
One word: speechless. Simply Superb 👍
INCREDIBLE EFFORT! You sir, did an amazing job and your overall performance truly outshined any imperfections as minor as they were.
Correction: After watching it again, there was no imperfections. Lol!
Damn you're good man🤘🤘🤘
C'est complètement fou !
Does anyone know if Mayhem ever played this live? Can’t find any vids. One of the greatest album openers ever!
They did at least last summer
66Samus brought me to you... dude you are INSANE!!!! Subscribed.
2:54 Inhuman mode on ..... fuck, that´s amazing.... Congrats
C'est juste hallucinant !! Merci pour cette vidéo :)
🔥
Hellhammer is a push pull user himself. And he grew up playing along to jazz. His website has a sick bio
On peut mieux se rendre compte de la complexité et du génie des compositions de Mayhem, beau boulot !
Impressive. Most Impressive.
This is fucking amazing! Those rolls are out of this fucking world!
my favourite drum part 4:00 haha .... no just kidding. insane skills dude
My favorite song on the album!!
This is fucking awesome! Good job!
sick!!!
What a badass drummer!
You watch the first minute of the video and you are like 'wtf is going on'! great performance
this is monstrous and badass as hell. You crushed it my dude
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Fuking Amazing Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Part of me wanted to point out the struggling with the kick parts, but I would rather point out that there is no video of ANYONE nailing this absolutely perfectly to date, and after watching this for the third or fourth time, I think Kevin is the best candidate to do it. Has anyone seen Hellhammer do this perfectly? I would like to see Kevin do this again because I know he can do this, and it is nearly inhuman.
I would love to see George Kollias or John Longstreth or Dave McGraw take stabs at this, too. We need a round-table. Ha.
@@michaelstonedrums6877 Darren Cesca, J Saint Merat, Mike Hamilton could NAIL this I reckon
kiwidubz I’ll look for them!
I think the craziest part of this is he’s doing this all ankle and isn’t using double strokes or swivel technique. That’s insane respect right there from me cause I’m an ankle only player for now while I improve my swivels. Even then my ankles max out at 240 bpm for a couple of measures. Meanwhile Kevin’s out here holding 250 for extremely long times. I think the only other people that could do it that long on singles alone would be Kollias, Simon Bloodhammer Schilling, Eugene Ryabchenko, David Diepold, Jamie St Merat. There maybe a few more that I’m missing but damn Kevin’s ankle inspires me much like Bloodhammer’s swivel also inspires me lol
Increible talento💥💥
Killer, Kevin, that's brutally hard
No swivel, just ankle... Unbelivable!!!
Beautiful!
awesome
Very, Very, Very good!!!
What in the absolute fuck did I just watch??? Holy shit this is amazing
BRUTAL
what a relief when you reach 3 minutes into the song I'm sure
super cool
great discipline
Awsome!
Awesome 👏..........
Those push-pulls at 1:58… simply awesome
What a beast. Holy shit.
Sick... my calf muscles are burning just by watching this :D And you managed to maintain a solid groove through this inferno. Superb playing!
A W E S O M E es magnífica la batería de Hell Hammer y al fin veo una batería en este estilo magnífico...
Magic
KEVIN, my brother if you’re going to play some hell hammer!!!! You’re going to need to leave a little bit of space in your kick drum performance... it looks like you have really gummy shoes on... try some slip on dress shoes with a little bit of weight to them that way your feet can slide a little bit and leave a little gap in there and you can use the weight of the shoe and treat it like a drum roll... i’ve been playing 36 years and I did all the stuff for the Hoffman brothers for AMON... you are definitely one of the best out there and play songs for five or six minutes straight at high rpm’s don’t kill yourself with the wrong pair of footwear!!! JAN AXEL RULES!!!!!! Unbelievable cover thank you so much for all of the amazing work that you have done over the years!!!!

Brutal
Incredible 🤘
WOW!!! Brutal!!!
Just out for a jog. Insane.
It sounds really close to the original. But it's one of Hellhammers "easier" performances when I think about the "Chimera" album...it is just hard to believe sometimes how devine it's been done. But huge respect for this playthrough! Very good job!!!
Great Job 👍🏻
Keep up 😉
This drummer is a beast.
Very impressive
