“Outro: Tear” is the closing track of the album Love Yourself 轉 ‘Tear’. It is the third installment in the four-part LY series after Love Yourself 起 ‘Wonder’ and Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ , preceding Love Yourself 結 ‘Answer’. To fully understand the meaning within the context of the series, we need to understand the previous installements. Love Yourself 起 ‘Wonder’ : The introduction of the series, in which the coming of a “perfect” relationship between two people is the central theme. Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ : The relationship and its development . A perfect, “destined-like love” that felt like it was already planned by the universe from the very beginning: “The universe has moved for us/There wasn’t anything even slightly out of place/Our happiness has been destined/Cause you love me/And I love you” - Jimin: “Serendipity” In “Outro: Tear”, three themes are presented, based on the heteronym “tear”, that is the meaning of “tear” as in crying, “tear” as in “tearing apart” and the rhyming word “fear”. This becomes more apparent in the chorus and the end of the song - RM: “You’re my tear” (crying); SUGA: “You’re my tear” (tearing apart), and the end of the song where j-hope says both versions of “tear” (notice how the pronountiation of tear changes) -. These specific verses are taken directly from the first outro, “Outro: Her” : “All of my wonder/The answer for that/I call you her, her/Cause you’re my tear, tear” (notice how every LY part’s name is said in the chorus). Like you pointed out, “forever” is used quite a bit in the song. Again, referencing lyrics from Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ like: “Ever since the day when the universe was created/And through infinite centuries/Because in the past life and maybe in the next one as well,/We’re forever together” - “DNA” “I walk on the sky/Tell me about forever, just one more time” - “Best of Me” If we listen to all parts in order, we sense a big “red button” that in short, is another spelling for “disaster”. The lovers aren’t showing their true selves, hiding behind a mask to please each other and hide their insecurities. This in turn leads to the inevitable, the break-up. “I can never take off the mask/Because behind the mask I’m not that guy you know/Today, too, make up to wake up/ and dress up to mask on/To become myself that you love” - “Outro: Her” “This is the real you, and this is the real me/I’ve now seen the end, and even my resentment doesn’t remain/I woke up from my sweet dream and close my eyes” - “Outro: Tear” All of these verses have a pretty obvious meaning when taken within the specific context. The lovers aren’t loving themselves and instead, do everything just to please the other person, in turn becoming a “lifeless doll” for the other person to play with: “Love you so bad, love you so bad/I craft a beautiful lie for you/Love it’s so mad, love it’s so mad/I try to become your doll by erasing myself” - “FAKE LOVE” One thing to note in SUGA’s verse is the grief-coping acronym “T.E.A.R.” T = “To accept the reality of loss.” E = “Experience the pain of loss.” A = “Adjust to the new environment without the lost person.” R = “Reinvest in the new reality.” -personally, him saying that “tears are a luxury” could imply that coping with grief isn’t just those steps, but rather a much more complex system that few people can actually follow, from where the term “luxury”, similar to “hard” in this context comes from. Now, the song also has a more “real” side to its meaning. As you learned from the video, it is also about BTS as members. In EP. 6 of “Break the Silence”, SUGA added: “The lyrics for Tear were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members, we all cried together.” 2017-2018 was the turning point in BTS’ career. It was the point where BTS really became to be called “a global phenomenon” and started getting more and more recognition in the west, a feat that no other korean achieved other than Psy and to some extent, BigBang. But unlike Psy or BigBang, BTS continued to push forward into the west, breaking boundaries and records never before seen at the time for a Korean artist and not even for western artists. This came with immense pressure. Not enough breaks, practicing non-stop, a ton of attention pointed towards them that they couldn’t even comprehend. It was a lot. They couldn’t take it anymore. And this was almost the catalyst to their break-up, which is where “Outro: Tear” takes its other inspiration besides the story of the LY series. We will never understand what they felt at that time, or how hard it must’ve been for them to all hear this one song and think of their bond towards one another and ARMY. But in the end, this bond would be the reason they continued this perilous path, as they realized once again, that the unconditional love they had towards one another was too big to let go.
@@MasterGo89You’re very welcome!! Hopefully what I wrote made sense to you, even though there is so much to analyze from this song. I mean, are we surprised about that? Probably not 😅😂. But yeah, I tried to give a schematic summary of this song and convey its main theme to you as best as I could! Hugs Master!! 💜💜💜
To clarify, LY:Wonder doesn’t exist as a separate album or EP. It all got subsumed into the other albums in the series… Her, Tear and Answer. So there are only three LY albums in total, not four.
@@Mark-vj7zdI know, I never mentioned in my comment that LY Wonder was an album, this is why I said “parts”. LY Wonder is still considered separate even though it’s not its own separate entity and like you said, got absorbed into the others. BTS got the specific structure from the traditional east-Asian writing Kishōtenketsu (起承転結).
this was when they were discussing disbandment and decided to stay together. someone said jin talked about it on suchwita but also V talked about it on his episode of suchwita. we may truly never understand how they felt during that time completely but they also spoke about it i their book Beyond the story. what you have to understand is they were and are the first korean artists to break into the west and not only that but for many things theyre the first asian artists and even the first non english artists, first foreign artists and sometimes even first artists. so when they started getting big in 2017/2018 in the west they had no one to ask for advice. literally no one to really lean on. they had each other but still with no rest and so much uncertainty and unknown territory they didnt know what was right or what would make them fail like all the groups who came before them failed. theyre the only korean artists to gain a foothold in the west not just having a one hit wonder. add on they were ages 20 - 25 young men who dont even know themselves yet trying to not only navigate being celebrities in korea but also going global plus they started from nothing so they still have the mindset of struggle probably felt imposter syndrome and they mentioned many times they dont understand why armys love them and not others. etc so many things were happening at the same time then you also have to sadly factor in all the negative things the threats they were getting, the bullying, the pressure, the racism they faced possibly for the first time as they were traveling more in the west and probably wouldnt face racism in korea since most people are korean. also they started speaking at the UN, preaching love yourself while they were struggling to love themselves too its not that it was a lie but it was a process they were going through while making music about it so they probably felt like they had no right to preach when they didnt always listen to their own message themselves which is normal for anyone trying to push for change you feel like youre in over your head or dont always believe in your own words even though you want others to believe them. just from watching a few of the documentary videos like the hardships and the asian theory you see everything that happened in 2017 - 2018 then you look at all the content released all the award shows interviews etc when you see all they did you understand how they were tired and burnt out. i personally still dont think i fully understand what they went through and i was here in 2018. plus imagine all the things they wont share, personal struggles we wont ever know unless they share it. i cant imagine how hard it was but im so thankful they kept going and stayed together.
We'll never understand completely, and we don't have a right to. It's like looking at a potential divorce and saying I don't understand. They have shared their process in the amazing way that artists have, by putting it out through art. Black Swan is about a piece of their process, losing their art as a death. Every time I watch them receive the 2018 award at MMA i break down, they didn't expect Jin to say it, but he did, honestly and bluntly (thank you, Jin, for being you), and all of them fell apart on stage. They've shared what they want to share, the rest is private.
@MasterGo89, what from I understand what happened during 2018 they were really starting to go on international tours more frequently and their concerts were becoming larger the concert venues like big stadiums they were on more talkshows in the United States and in the European Union and also in their home South Korea! Came overwhelming they were more popular now internationally that means they were doing more than they were a year ago especially when they won the billboard music award for social artist back in 2017 they were the first South Korean music artist to win an award from an American award show. Due to their popularity and they’re famous in the United States everybody wanted BTS on their talk show they were everywhere on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the late show with Stephen Colbert ,the late late show with James Corden, the Todayshow on NBC, Good Morning America show, the Graham Nash show in the UK etc. They even went on podcast radio shows ! Fast pace at an alarming rate they became exhausted ! Physically and mentally exhausted they wanted to quit they wanted to know if they should disband? Suga wrote and produced his lyrics and he spoke to RM and J-Hope and they wrote their lyrics for this song “Outro:Tear from their Love Yourself:Tear Album. So disbandment was a question on all their mind that they couldn’t continue it was so exhausting but they worked it out they talked about it . there’s even a Hong Kong MAMA 2018 Award show acceptance speech after they won Artist of the year ! They worked it out obviously because they continued to work and pull out more music for us ARMYs!😢 If you watch the acceptance speech for that award show if you Watch it you will definitely tear up because it is gut wrenching to watch all seven of the members of BTS in an emotional state!💜🙏🏼
Wt started as an introduction to BTS 4months back while he was just a newbie got so far with armies support and comments on suggestions etc ,be it for viewership or anything this guy is dng good work in here and is into the rabbit hole now
I saw a lot awesome comments so I won't say tge samr things but I will add that the presure was so big on them bc they were getting bigger and bigger. Suga said that ehen they won in US, I think it was bbma (but I can't remember now) that when he got to his hotel room he cried in the shower bc he was so scared bc the award mean they will get bigger... When you think about it, how much it was gor them to think about it, ahh... Also they started to have different vision for band some members wanted to slow down a little and maybe do something different and not to get bigger and some wanted to ride the wave bc you never know if they will get their time again, so there was also a lot of talks about it and stress to see eye to eye, but also all members knew that they needed a break, so yeah.... That is why RM said "It’s like the seven of us are on the same boat, just looking in different directions, but going the same way. That’s how I describe BTS", the members also said that even if they all look in different directions and the goals may be little different they make sure the boat is always stable, balanced and going forward. So yeah Suga also said in this context "We have to respect the fact that we all think differently in order to work as one.” and it was important to find balance then, JK said "In the way that water flows, we are all doing a good job if maintaining this balance".. But in the end answer was Army, they said they couldn't think to leave fans suddenly so they trued to find solution tgat was good for all, so yeah they go thro this hard tome and we are proud, but we will never knew how hard it really was ... And at the end SuGA wisdom hehe “AS WE CONTINUE, I CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER THAN THIS. RATHER THAN DOING SOMETHING ON MY OWN, THE SEVEN OF US DOING IT TOGETHER HAS A MORE SYNERGISTIC EFFORT. COULD THERE HAVE BEEN A BETTER MATCH? WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN DESTINED TO MEET.” and RM words of moving firward "RATHER THAN PREPARE OURSELVES FOR IT, THAT TIME WILL COME, SO WE JUST NEED TO DO OUR BEST NOW. INSTEAD OF THINKING, ‘I SHOULD PREPARE MYSELF FOR THE INEVITABLE’, JUST DO YOUR BEST IN THE MOMENT. THAT’S THE BEST WE CAN DO." I hope it helps you to see theirs mindset at that time...
Yes, and no matter how many times I've seen this performance, I'm always tearing up by J-Hope's part at the end. This performance is a masterpiece of raw emotion.
Everytime. Every single time this hits like a ton of bricks, and I end up in tears. The pain is so real. Just so glad that they are still here and making music for themselves and us.
You should watch BTS MAMA 2018 Artist of the year Full speech eng subs. Acceptance speech where Jin talk about disbanding everyone was crying.. This was the first time that they where publicly talking about it… video posted by Hans Jeon
This song is for the members and was recorded after they discussed about disbanding and decided not back in 2018. Suga had this track and lyrics that he shared with the members and all cried. 💜💜💜 They were beyond exhausted physically and mentally only have 1.5 days off a month working non stop promoting Fake Love and Idol as they were taking off internationally especially in the States.
@@cutebunn5908 They go into it deeper in Tae's episode of Suchwita too... Tae wanted to explain why they were all so emotional giving the award speech... I still can't watch that... makes me bawl like a baby still....
Ok so when this song came out we didn't have any context. So everyone was like DAMN who hurt our guys....but it was a song you could really get into and stomp your feet and yell etc...a song to release pent up emotions I guess you could say....so for a year, millions of ARMY all over the workd yell this song out and screamed and cheered and danced. Then, a whole year later after the song ccame out, we finally got the context that 2017 had been an extremely rough year for the guys because they really overloaded their scedule and didn't really have any down time...but that was what they believed at that time that they needed to do to be successful. It is like what Suga says in his Interlude Shadow lyrics....when I was flying highest is when I found me at my lowest. 2017 was an amazing year of record breaking and breakthroughs. But all the members began to feel like they couldn't keep living that way. They didn't have a falling out or anything that we know of, it was just complete and utter burnout, exhaustion, and mental anguish. But if you watch their acceptance speech for Artist of The year 2018 where many of the members are crying, you can see just how deeply they were affected. After ARMY found out what the song was really about, it was never the same again....not it is a very painful memory of when we almost lost BTS. (But the song still kicks ass)
Very much so! I'm glad to get into the deeper side of the lyrics/build a story in my head... then have that completely flipped with just a short explanation from Suga 😳💜💜 it's always such an interesting journey
This is one of my most treasured rapline song.. the emotion, the delivery, flow, the instrumentation.. everything about this is so raw, painful, a rollercoaster ride for real.. this is from Love Yourself: Tear one of my fave albums of the guys.. i bet many have already commented on watching the BTS MAMA 2018 speech where they first mentioned that they were contemplating on separating in the beg of the year. if you planned on watching it, make sure to ready yourself and get a box of tissues beside you just in case.
Yeahhh... it's really hard to manage the depths of this song. It's so important for the history of the boys. I was such a learning experience for myself! 💜💜💜
the album that this song is on is called Love Yourself: Tear..its part of the love yourself series albums. You can just feel the emotions every time they perform this song!
They actually "hid" a third meaning of tear in Suga's verse because he says t.e.a.r. which is a coping model for grief: T - To accept the reality of the loss E - Experience the pain of the loss A - Accept the new reality R - Reinvest in the new reality without the lost person Pure *chef's kiss* genius writing. Fun fact: This performance is affectionately known as "The Dior performance" because they're all wearing costum made Dior outfits specifically designed for them by a young hip designer for the brand. 💜
thank you for reacting to this, this song really has a special place in BTS and ARMY's heart since we know the reason behind this song. Esp once we heard BTS's speech back then in MAMA 2018 Artist of the Year moment 😢
so true i love the raw emotions from this performance it´s an army favorite. Suga just did a tour you may aready know but he gave me the same raw feeling at that concert and also when they performed togehter at Busan so F amazing
The way they are willing to lay themselves bare before their audience/ fans/ world is what ultimately propels them forward and why they are so well Loved and Adored. While there are many Artist who can make you feels lyrics; it's not often about their own story. It's truly astonishing and spirited.
this is a prime example of a song that you would never hear from another kpop group or any group for that matter. because it´s about a breakup and just the thought of fans reading the lyrics and all hell would break loose. no company would allow that. BTS has always shown us both good, sad, angry and desperate songs also songs about depression and stuff like that. BTS is just real to the bone. and it shines through when they perform. when you write your own stuff you feel the music and also perform better that´s just a fact.
Young forever... ahhhh that is some real emotion right there! It really is amazing how music can hit you, but knowing where it comes from really connects you 💜💜💜
This is my favourite live performance and i hate that i love it because they were so hurt, emotional, raw 😢But i am so grateful that these men can show this side of themselves and showing us that it is okay to show it.
On of songs that makes me so emotional and I cry. And god bless them that they’ve coped with all of this and they are still with us as BTS. We would loose so much if they quit that time 😞
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it, but the acceptance speech for Artist of the Year at MAMA 2018 is reflective of the struggle. Just be warned. It is emotional. And I’m a wreck every time I see it. But it also gives you a good picture of how they lean on and into ARMY. 💜
The clip of Yoongi talking about this was from the 3rd tour series, Break The Silence. The other two are Burn The Stage and Bring The Soul. Each of them has a docuseries and a movie. I've only seen the Break The Silence movie once, in theaters, but I could swear that in the movie, Yoongi says that JK almost left the group but he changed his mind. JK is their main singer, so he has a lot of parts, is in the center for a lot of their dances, and does most of the ad libs on their tracks, among other things. BTS isn't BTS with even one member missing, but losing JK would end the group. As their main singer, he's just too integral to too man songs. There's a 2nd song, one of their Japanese songs, that, to me, is sort of a follow up to this song. In Tear, they are in the middle of breaking up, with all of the pain and hurt feelings that goes along with that. In this other song, they have come to accept that it's time to go their separate ways. It's called Let Go, with one of the lines being, "I'm ready to let go." It also mentions "stereo to mono" or from many to one. And at the very end of the choreo, six of the members are on their knees with their heads down, but JK is waling away from them. Him walking away is kind of difficult to see, though, depending on which live version you watch. I highly recommend reacting to the Japanese song, as well.
😢This song hurts the entire army since it is known that this song was written by Suga since in 2018 the BTS were thinking about separating, they were tired physically and mentally and more and all the haters who threw at him
It's so devastating to think that this could have been the end right here. BUT the light at the end of that tunnel really signified just a hurdle to more amazing things to come! It's like all of our journeys, just a speedbump:) 💜💜🫰💜💜
One thing we know about the BTS Men is they are not afraid to show emotions they're not afraid to be vunerable not afraid to cry to afraid to spit out fire when they need to.
The intensity of this live gives me chills. I also think this song helped them decide to remain together so I hold it as a special important intense song. No body writes or raps quite like they do. Raw like a bleeding wound beautiful and painful. Docskim who produced Wildflower for RM and Lie for Jimin produced this from Sugas guide. He’s in their live band and only produced a few songs for them but all are incredible. Sugas song writing emotional punch is all over this though.
I didn’t know the story behind this song but as soon as I saw this performance for the first time I knew it was about them. It’s so raw and intense. It’s one of my favorite songs from BTS 💜
Still, after all this time, every time I hear this song or watch this performance I get so emotional. Knowing how much they struggled and what they went through just to hold on and then to take that experience and turn it into this amazing song. I am so grateful to them for being strong, finding their path to healing, and for staying together for themselves and for us. 💜
This song is so tough, raw and emotional, beautifully sad and visceral. The live is an apex of intensity... Tearssssss... But we know it ends well, they are together. Apobangpo !
I am definitely OT7, but this is the BEST live performance, period. I've watched it so many times and I still feel emotional each time. These 3 were expressing so much feeling and raw emotion. It's just a beautiful delivery of this song. ❤
I thought it was an amazing breakup song, because of the context of the Live Yourself series, and then when Yoongi said that on the documentary, it became even deeper
I just woke up but i choose to cry for Tear cus it's worth it ✨💜 This song actually comes from my favorite album serie called Love Yourself. Outro : Tear comes in the album Love Yourself : Tear where the concept talk more about the dark parts. It has other songs like The Truth Untold, Singularity or Fake Love. This album (in my opinion) is more made for people who are deeply hurt but wants to heal with them. Then there's Love Yourself : Her who is more like an album for people who are struggling with love. It has songs like Best Of Me (my favorite from them) DNA, Serendipity or dimple. And the last, that is a Mix of both but with more power (in my opinion again) is Love Yourself : Answer that talks more about accepting yourself and loving yourself. It has songs like Idol, I'm Fine, Answer : Love Myself or Epiphany
I think the issues they were facing, which prompted this song, were discussed in Beyond the Story, also, if I remember correctly. It was a really difficult time for all of the members, due to mental and physical exhaustion. I absolutely love this song, and even more, knowing the story behind it. (I know that I say that a lot, but there hasn't been a bad bts song, yet, IMHO.) Went back and re-watched some of your early reactions, and you have slid so far down the rabbit hole, now. Lol! Enjoyed this deep dive. BORAHAE! 💜💜💜
So from what I understand during those fake love promo and tour era, they were really getting burned out and just exhausted. Working so much without barely any rest. They reached a point where some of the members.. not sure if all… felt like they weren’t sure if they could continue. They felt a lot of pressure at the time to continue with the upward momentum they were going. Jin and Suga briefly discussed this on Suchwita together. If I got any of this wrong, someone please feel free to correct me 💜
Man... I think about the "superficial pressures of everyday life" and then think about the boys and what they would be going through at this time... I think I count myself lucky sometimes💜💜💜💜💜
@@MasterGo89for sure! Just imagine if our own every day routine involving not just our own success.. but also our success being responsible for the livelihoods of all the people who work behind the scenes to support us (Hybe/Big Hit staff and employees). On top of that.. the expectation of millions watching your every step.. getting just as much criticism as their is praise. I would imagine that would have been a heavy burden on top of the physical demands of the job. We are so thankful they rallied and pulled through.
YOOOOO That's so very true!!! They captured so many extraordinary shots here! Honestly, this whole concert from what I've seen so far has been fantastic 💜💜💜
Yoon-gi is impressive, he is a musical genius, the lyrics of his songs are an explosion of feelings and his stage presence is charismatic and powerful.
And I just released SO much energy watching this with you, which is exactly what I always do. Just not this close to bed time 😂 Now I also have a crush on Tactical JHope 💜💜💜
I keep missing the discord chats.. I’m very new to it and trying to figure it out, but super glad this was recommended to you. No doubt you would appreciate the emotional depth of this song. Still gets me every time I hear it. 💜

Oh man, I love your reactions. Can we see your reactions for Jungkook "Dreamers" official MV for FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 and live performance on FIFA WORLD CUP OPENING CEREMONY. PLS❤️ Greetings 🤗❤️
This is way off topic, but when you said you're never getting on the bad side of RM it reminded me of when the guys said that Jimin and Jhope are the scariest when mad (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Maybe because it's unexpected? I've always been curious lol.
Seven was such an interesting time for me! It was my first solo release, and I listened and watched the HELL out of that music video on my own. I also listened to all the remixes. That was on stream one time. But YES! I would love to do a reaction! Since JKs album will be coming out I would love to do some review:)

A perfect, “destined-like love” that felt like it was already planned by the universe from the very beginning: “The universe has moved for us/There wasn’t anything even slightly out of place/Our happiness has been destined/Cause you love me/And I love you” - Jimin: “Serendipity”
In “Outro: Tear”, three themes are presented, based on the heteronym “tear”, that is the meaning of “tear” as in crying, “tear” as in “tearing apart” and the rhyming word “fear”.
Again, referencing lyrics from Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ like: “Ever since the day when the universe was created/And through infinite centuries/Because in the past life and maybe in the next one as well,/We’re forever together” - “DNA”
“I walk on the sky/Tell me about forever, just one more time” - “Best of Me”
If we listen to all parts in order, we sense a big “red button” that in short, is another spelling for “disaster”. The lovers aren’t showing their true selves, hiding behind a mask to please each other and hide their insecurities. This in turn leads to the inevitable, the break-up. “I can never take off the mask/Because behind the mask I’m not that guy you know/Today, too, make up to wake up/ and dress up to mask on/To become myself that you love” - “Outro: Her”
“This is the real you, and this is the real me/I’ve now seen the end, and even my resentment doesn’t remain/I woke up from my sweet dream and close my eyes” - “Outro: Tear”
All of these verses have a pretty obvious meaning when taken within the specific context. The lovers aren’t loving themselves and instead, do everything just to please the other person, in turn becoming a “lifeless doll” for the other person to play with: “Love you so bad, love you so bad/I craft a beautiful lie for you/Love it’s so mad, love it’s so mad/I try to become your doll by erasing myself” - “FAKE LOVE”
One thing to note in SUGA’s verse is the grief-coping acronym “T.E.A.R.”
T = “To accept the reality of loss.”
E = “Experience the pain of loss.”
A = “Adjust to the new environment without the lost person.”
R = “Reinvest in the new reality.”
-personally, him saying that “tears are a luxury” could imply that coping with grief isn’t just those steps, but rather a much more complex system that few people can actually follow, from where the term “luxury”, similar to “hard” in this context comes from.
When I played the song for the members, we all cried together.”
2017-2018 was the turning point in BTS’ career.
I mean... this says it all right here dosnt it? THANK YOU ALEX!

Total stage presence!
The live performances are something on another level hey? Damn.. I cant wait till I one day see them live! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
this was when they were discussing disbandment and decided to stay together. someone said jin talked about it on suchwita but also V talked about it on his episode of suchwita. we may truly never understand how they felt during that time completely but they also spoke about it i their book Beyond the story.
what you have to understand is they were and are the first korean artists to break into the west and not only that but for many things theyre the first asian artists and even the first non english artists, first foreign artists and sometimes even first artists.
so when they started getting big in 2017/2018 in the west they had no one to ask for advice. literally no one to really lean on. they had each other but still with no rest and so much uncertainty and unknown territory they didnt know what was right or what would make them fail like all the groups who came before them failed. theyre the only korean artists to gain a foothold in the west not just having a one hit wonder. add on they were ages 20 - 25 young men who dont even know themselves yet trying to not only navigate being celebrities in korea but also going global plus they started from nothing so they still have the mindset of struggle probably felt imposter syndrome and they mentioned many times they dont understand why armys love them and not others. etc so many things were happening at the same time then you also have to sadly factor in all the negative things the threats they were getting, the bullying, the pressure, the racism they faced possibly for the first time as they were traveling more in the west and probably wouldnt face racism in korea since most people are korean. also they started speaking at the UN, preaching love yourself while they were struggling to love themselves too its not that it was a lie but it was a process they were going through while making music about it so they probably felt like they had no right to preach when they didnt always listen to their own message themselves which is normal for anyone trying to push for change you feel like youre in over your head or dont always believe in your own words even though you want others to believe them. just from watching a few of the documentary videos like the hardships and the asian theory you see everything that happened in 2017 - 2018 then you look at all the content released all the award shows interviews etc when you see all they did you understand how they were tired and burnt out.
i personally still dont think i fully understand what they went through and i was here in 2018. plus imagine all the things they wont share, personal struggles we wont ever know unless they share it. i cant imagine how hard it was but im so thankful they kept going and stayed together.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for this breakdown! 💜💜💜
Thanks for the breakdown - a lot of people haven't watched Suchwita yet so this will explain it for them... 💜
They've shared what they want to share, the rest is private.
you can feel it ! whoa, this song is just intense.
100% the intensity is through the roof💜🫰💜
They worked it out obviously because they continued to work and pull out more music for us ARMYs!😢
If you watch the acceptance speech for that award show if you Watch it you will definitely tear up because it is gut wrenching to watch all seven of the members of BTS in an emotional state!💜🙏🏼
This song leaves me breathless every single time.
And at the end SuGA wisdom hehe
“AS WE CONTINUE, I CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER THAN THIS. THAT’S THE BEST WE CAN DO."
I hope it helps you to see theirs mindset at that time...
Everytime i heard this song I can feel their pain 🥺
I agree! The raw emotion and passion behind the words really threw me on this one. I thought it was one way... then I learned! 💜💜💜
nods
Same here. 💜💜💜
Thank you so much! It's one of my favorites 💕 The other one is House of cards live, please react, it's incredible
Bendiciones from Argentina ❤
Yes, and no matter how many times I've seen this performance, I'm always tearing up by J-Hope's part at the end. This performance is a masterpiece of raw emotion.
This is one of the most iconic live performances in history
My favorite song😢❤
Outro: tear is such a powerful song! I can see why!!!!
Everytime. Every single time this hits like a ton of bricks, and I end up in tears. The pain is so real. Just so glad that they are still here and making music for themselves and us.
Exactly! When this came out for everyone and the meaning was discovered...ah wow... I can't even imagine. 💜💜💜💜
Man... The emotion must have been very intense in that room this day 💜
@@MasterGo89very much so. They talk about it in Jin’s episode of Suchwita.
I have yet to get into Suchwita!!! Can't wait!
@@cutebunn5908 They go into it deeper in Tae's episode of Suchwita too... Tae wanted to explain why they were all so emotional giving the award speech... I still can't watch that... makes me bawl like a baby still....
@@JoSedunary So true.
I cry everytime I hear Hobi's breath at the end. That emotional release of the whole song hits me with his breath.
Yoongi is such a genius for writing this song while he was in the hospital
Yea the pain and disillusion you can sense. a breaking point. It's such a great song and the live is just epic
Ohhhhh I really should!! Ah man.. time to feel the feels 😭💜💜💜💜
@@MasterGo89 i still cry whenever i watch it.. so...
This song always makes me 😢
Yeahhh... it's really hard to manage the depths of this song. It's so important for the history of the boys. I was such a learning experience for myself! 💜💜💜
I love this powerful performance! Every bit of it! 💜
the album that this song is on is called Love Yourself: Tear..its part of the love yourself series albums. You can just feel the emotions every time they perform this song!
It's so powerful! I always think I've gotten to the peek of power... nope haha💜💜💜
I feel so lucky that I got to see this performed live. The whole show was the best concert I have ever been too but this song definitely stands out💜
They actually "hid" a third meaning of tear in Suga's verse because he says t.e.a.r. which is a coping model for grief:
T - To accept the reality of the loss
E - Experience the pain of the loss
A - Accept the new reality
R - Reinvest in the new reality without the lost person
Pure *chef's kiss* genius writing.
Fun fact: This performance is affectionately known as "The Dior performance" because they're all wearing costum made Dior outfits specifically designed for them by a young hip designer for the brand.
💜
I was gonna nenion the Dior outfits. They are sooo good
thank you for reacting to this, this song really has a special place in BTS and ARMY's heart since we know the reason behind this song.
I saw this performance live in Chicago at Soldier Field. The atmosphere in there was incredible it felt like electricity running through the stadium
💜💜💜
💜💜💜I PURPLE YOU!💜💜💜
Jhope’s part always gets me to tears 😢
Tear is one of my favorite BTS songs ever, the raw and honest emotion of it...ahhh
So much love and respect for these boys
Yes! I also love that each of them sounds like himself - three very different approaches, different styles, but they fit together perfectly.
One of my favorites'.. 😅
It's honestly so good! A very powerful song for sure! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🩶
This was amazing to see live
I bet!!! Wow! The energy in the air must have been something else 💜💜💜
@@MasterGo89 the whole concerts energy level was unreal. I am in my 50s and have never seen anything like it before
The way they are willing to lay themselves bare before their audience/ fans/ world is what ultimately propels them forward and why they are so well Loved and Adored. While there are many Artist who can make you feels lyrics; it's not often about their own story. It's truly astonishing and spirited.
That's our BTS rappers y'all 🔥🔥💪💪👏🏻👏🏻!!!! So talented & gifted, powerful energetic performance 💜💜 SUPERB!!!
oh my god
OMG I love you and your passion. Keep up the hard work 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Awww thank you! I really do love making these videos 🤗💜💜💜
this is a prime example of a song that you would never hear from another kpop group or any group for that matter. because it´s about a breakup and just the thought of fans reading the lyrics and all hell would break loose.
no company would allow that.
BTS has always shown us both good, sad, angry and desperate songs also songs about depression and stuff like that. BTS is just real to the bone. and it shines through when they perform. when you write your own stuff you feel the music and also perform better that´s just a fact.
One of my faves 💜💜
Its such an amazing track! I never stood a chance 💜

This song and Young Forever will always evoke tears and goosebumps out of me every dang time! Knowing what it came from hits even harder. 😭💜💜💜
Young forever... ahhhh that is some real emotion right there! It really is amazing how music can hit you, but knowing where it comes from really connects you 💜💜💜
Outro tear uma das melhores sem dúvida Amo!!!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I didn’t know the story behind this song but as soon as I saw this performance for the first time I knew it was about them. It’s so raw and intense. It’s one of my favorite songs from BTS 💜
Still, after all this time, every time I hear this song or watch this performance I get so emotional. Knowing how much they struggled and what they went through just to hold on and then to take that experience and turn it into this amazing song. I am so grateful to them for being strong, finding their path to healing, and for staying together for themselves and for us. 💜
i cant believe this masterpiece doesnt have more views than that. its an amazing heart wrenching song .
These lyrics are absolute poetry, I want all the people who say BTS is a boy band to read these lyrics and see the beauty in the lyrics 💜 💕
Agreed!💜💜💜
I thought it was an amazing breakup song, because of the context of the Live Yourself series, and then when Yoongi said that on the documentary, it became even deeper
I just woke up but i choose to cry for Tear cus it's worth it ✨💜
This song actually comes from my favorite album serie called Love Yourself.
(I know that I say that a lot, but there hasn't been a bad bts song, yet, IMHO.)
Went back and re-watched some of your early reactions, and you have slid so far down the rabbit hole, now.
Many people believe that V and JK we’re having the hardest time. Suga told them he loved them.
Correct, and I think Jimin also talks a little about his stress in Suchwita too around that time. 💜
@@joycelevy3628 that makes sense. I always wondered why Suga reached out to the 2 of them specifically. It clearly meant a lot to them that he did 😊
