Black Swan really speaks about their fear of losing their passion for what they do. The part about it being their 'first death I've been always afraid of'.

@@MasterGo89 BTS lyrics are one of the most important aspects of why they have such a wide and varied audience , it's important for you to read the lyrics to fully appreciate their music. People usually watch the videos 2 to 3 times , once for the music and dancing, 2nd/3rd time for the lyrics 💜💜💜
Yes they talked about that famous quote by a famous dancer, " A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing this is the most painful death'. The Shadow represents that fear of losing their passion and/or ability to do their art anymore it shrinking to nothing at the end symbolises their triumph over that fear. ' Shadow' being the Psychological concept by Carl Jung refering to the part of the mind were we hide our dark thoughts, fears and things we don't want other's to know about. In the case of Black SwSan their fears for losing their passion to create eg to write more songs, compose, produce, sing, rap, dance and even just go on stage.
What make's it even more real is the fact they went through their 'Black Swan' time where the pressure was so bad and they felt lost that they talked about disbanding. Suga talked about it how the Cypher Tear was written about that potential disbandment and when he presented it to them all they all cried and decided to keep together and keep fighting.
I thinks it’s definitely ok to explain the music videos, but remember everyone is entitled to their interpretation on their own too. Suga and RM have both stated that they had their feelings and meanings when they wrote it, but once it’s out there for the world, it’s no longer their’s. It becomes what we feel or hear in our experience listening to it as well. I had this experience when listening to Spring Day. When I heard the song, I associated with the loss of a loved one, particularly through self harm. I had lost my best friend a few months before hearing it and it really hit hard and made me ARMY. The song itself was actually written before the Sewol Tragedy so the song itself is not specifically about it, however the music video was used to comment on it. So many people and ARMY’s try to tell newbies that their interpretation is wrong and it’s only about Sewol Ferry. RIP all those who lost their lives on the Ferry and from survivors guilt and prayers for the family and friends still trying to overcome their loss. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I was introduced to BTS by my teen daughter 7 years ago. She was strugling and going thru an extremely hard time by then. BTS rescued her with their lyrics and messages, they touched her soul, they told her everything I was trying to say but she was not listening to me. THEY SAVED HER from a path of self destruction and taught her how to overcome difficulties and to love herself. She is a happy and healthy 18 y.o. young lady now
I am so greatful to these 7 angels!! ..... I will be by their side till the very end.💜

Literally teared up reading this ❤❤❤ “You find BTS when you need them” they have helped so many people and just spread so much love. I had heard about them when I was in high school but didn’t listen to them until about 2 years ago ❤ I’m 26 now and have been listening to them since. I adore them so much and their songs provide so much comfort and energy ❤ I have two kids (6&4) and my daughter literally will try to sing the songs I play and knows some of “Butter” and recognizes when I play other songs and my son’s favorite song is “Left and Right” he calls it “Every Fall and We Day and Night” cause that’s what he hears ❤ he’s constantly asking to listen to it and I just hope they grow up loving BTS ❤❤❤

for Not Today t(hey have another song called baepsae which translates to crow tits along with silver spoon.) crow tits is a idiom that represents the younger generations, underdogs, disadvantaged, oppressed etc
this song is all about empowering the underdogs. they also mention in the bridge not sure if you caught it but the line is " break the glass ceiling that locks you up" glass ceiling is an unofficially acknowledged barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities. theyre talking about themselves in the music industry both in korea and in the west but also many of their fans and just people in general who also fit into this category either being women or minority groups.
But there are actually real birds called crow tits in South Korea too.

Crow tits (aka baepsae) are birds with short legs. There is a Korean idiom that says if a crow tit tries to act like a stork, it will break its legs. A stork is a bird with very long legs, so the idiom is a statement about class, basically storks are high class and crow tits are low class, and crow tits will never be storks no matter how hard they try. BTS has a whole song about this called Baepsae, sometimes translated to Silver Spoon.
Yup crow-tits (small birds, called Bapsae in Korean) are a metaphor for underdogs and people seen by the elite as "lower class". The Korean proverb about bapsae and storks is basically about elite people telling the lower classes to "stay in your lane" and don't try acting like your betters. When you see the Bapsae dance practice videos (the song is also sometimes listed as Silver Spoon) it seems like just an upbeat song and goofy dance until you read the lyrics and learn it's a critical commentary on socio-economic inequalities in Korean society and the boomers who ruined the economy while blaming Gen Z for being lazy.
Black Swan was filmed at the Los Angeles Theatre. The song is about their fear of losing their love and passion for music.

I, and a couple of others, actually worked with the LA Conservancy to open it for tours for a couple of hours one day during Suga’s tour stop there. Beautiful theater built in 1031 and not been restored for the most part. We even got to stand on the stage.💜

I have to say something about „ratatouille“ because I love that line. I love how the BTS rapline, here specifically Suga, manages to call out people without excessively using profanity but instead with intelligence.
So ratatouille is a mediterranean/French dish (which the Disney movie is named after). Originally a poor-people-dish/vegetable stew made from different ingredients stirred together and cooked soft, a SIMPLE dish.
So him saying to the haters that they are a TASTELESS ratatouille basically means that what they put out, what is supposed to be their essence, is simple, a jumble of „random“ things and WITHOUT ANY figurative „FLAVOR“.
Whereas BTS are doing it all very successfully with their „flavor“. Topping the charts worldwide, selling out stadiums worldwide while their critics aren’t making any waves anywhere.

there are so many great songs, that some fall through the cracks. Not Today was my first BTS video and it literally blew me away. Especially watching the behind the scenes videos. Seeing that they filmed in a real location and froze their asses off. There are videos that tell you about the videos. I suggest that he watch the explained videos. Especially for Blood, sweat and tears.

black swan is such a beautiful song and i love that the music video was sort of an opportunity for Jimin to be able to bring back his contemporary dancing skills with how well they fit the setting.
Black Swan is my all time favorite BTS track. It's just so deep and meaningful. Imagine you are a painter, a writer, an actor, a musician, whatever... and it has defined your passion your whole life, it excites you, it brings you inner joy and one day you wake up and suddenly no longer have that passion. No longer feel that desire that has driven your life for so many years. It's really that fear that they are speaking to. Truly makes you think.

some years ago, i got really ill and ended up disabled, unable to work and having to leave the country i had built my life in (no work = no visa = get out). i lost the job i loved and was my true calling, lost my house over there, lost my partner. all of it.
shit gets tough. mental health took a major blow.
when i'm down at the bottom, feeling like nothing is worth the physical pain and struggles to live with this broken body, i put on not today.
and i sing it. not. today. today. we. fight.
and i fight on for one more day, one more day, until im not crumbling anymore.
i can honestly say bts songs save me again and again. on is another one i listen to when i'm struggling. i could go on and name a few dozen songs that keep me grounded, keep me fighting, keep me advocating for myself in a world where every sidewalk, every building, every transport even, it's all geared towards people who can walk, who can run up flights of stairs, who can climb onto a bus or get down to a subway station (i'm also unable to drive).

I am so curious when you come to watch the live shows of them. I am one of the older Army, 57 years young, greetings from Germany. I have been an ARMY since 11 years now, short before their debut. Not because they are handsome, they are but because of their lyrics, the deep meaning and the sound of their music. They opened up to their fans in any way you can think of. Humble, kind, caring, loving, honest are only a few words to describe them. By the way, if you want explanation to various songs of them you have to watch DKDKTV, a RUclips channel where Koreans explain most of the songs... For example Dang, a song, where the rap line is fire for telling haters, what they are. You will love it, I promise 😍 and last but not least, your reactions are amazing. I like the thought that you listen first to their Korean songs than English songs. We ARMYs are willing to share everything that we enjoy for the last 10 years with our boys. They have a lot of contents and believe us you will never regret choosing them. (that includes, awards shows, guestings, speeches, behind the scenes of their mv making, BTS festa, webtoon, etc) But i know someday you will get to see those.💜 If you have a chance in the future try to watch their RUN BTS variety show its more than 140 episode its long though but we can watch it with you 😅 I can say that this is enough contents until they return in 2025. A crow tit is a small bird, featured in another of their songs, called Baepsae (the Korean word for crow tit). You should check out that song too but be sure to also watch DKDKTV’s explanation video for Baepsae because non-Koreans will not understand it.

The MV's are great but live they are amazing. Having seen and heard them live. Not To Day is based on the quote by Martin Luther King Jr. who said, “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” Basically it's an anthem to keep going to not give in.
When I first found BTS about 3 years ago, I was very impressed and entertained by Dope, Fire and On Kinetic Manifesto music videos. I also enjoy their live performances of Carpool Karaoke, NPR Tiny desk concert and BBC1 I’ll Be Missing You. However, it really doesn’t matter what music videos or live performances you react too, I never tire of watching them and you will find the same as evidenced by the views and likes you will receive. I love that you’re slowly converting some of your coworkers too! Also yes, Suga did indeed use “ratatouille” in mic drop and baepsae (or crowtit) is a type of tiny bird! There’s a Korean saying that basically translates to “a crowtit will tear it’s crotch trying to walk like a stork”. BTS have a whole song about it (also called baepsae or silver spoon) where they use the metaphor to discuss how the previous generation treats the current generation! I’d definitely recommend checking it out, it’s hype and the live version has some………fun choreography that everyone tends to go nuts for lol

I actually really enjoy this format of going through more than one music video in your reactions. I watch other creators who only react to one song at a time, and while that format is completely fine, I feel like it's a lot more engaging in the beginning to blast through a few and have some fun. My favorite mv of bts are mic drop, black swan and blood sweat and tears, but i love all of their songs, they are amazing , i fell inlove with them about 4 years ago, sonething like that, perhaps more, it feels like forever.
the live performance of Black Swan that they did at their concerts followed them singing Blue and Grey it was amazing and I can really understand why they did those two songs together.
I cried the first time I saw that performance. It was magical!

There are many youtubers reacting to BTS but I've never came across to someone making a concept to the videos a continue following the thread to it. It would really be fun and awesome if you would consider doing it: Reacting to One song at a time, starting with the music video, then the Making of the music video and an ending with a live performance of the same song. Then you will have a clean timline with one song per video.
You can also mix the timeline with reacting to awardshows (which are AWESOME), compilationvideos, speeches etc.. I promise you, this is a never ending rabbithole so you'll never be out of content 😊💜

Since BTS references crow tits on several of their songs, I'll explain what that's about. A crow tit is a tiny bird (looks like a perfect cotton ball) with very short legs. In BTS songs, crow tits are metaphors for the younger generation, the oppressed, the underdog. They are objecting to the older generation and those in power expecting "crow tits" to keep up with them ("storks"), since it was the storks who created the current economy that makes it impossible for the "crow tits" to find jobs that pay living wages or ever save enough to purchase their own homes. As you get further into your BTS journey, you'll realize that disguised within the great beats and dynamic choreography, their lyrics have incredible and extremely intelligent meaning and substance (it's what makes them different to almost all other artists/groups). All true ARMYs know that a BTS hip thrust isn't just a hip thrust. Hope this helps. 💜💜💜

The phrase "I'm not historically the lower classes &/or the younger generations are referred to as "Dirty Spoons/Crow-tits/Baepsaes" and the upper classes &/or older generations are "Storks/Silver or Golden Spoons".... you'll hear these phrases throughout kpop songs like in BTS's "Silver Spoon/Baepsae" (crow-tits) & "Not Today"; and Stray Kids "Thunderous"
All 3 are great ones today. Black Swan was my intro to BTS and I never looked back and really don't listen to much of anything else now. It's about the fear of losing their passion for music and dancing, and I really think around the time this came out they were going through it, but we didn't know that until 2022 at their FESTA dinner. I became ARMY soon after discovering them - official member. I can see you prefer the high-energy songs the most. Maybe you'd like Idol and DNA for something a little different, but you might need to watch DKDKTV Explanation by a Korean for Idol (there is a lot of symbolism in it), but watch the MV's first. Also, for Black Swan, their Live performances at the Permission to Dance (PTD) concerts in LA and Las Vegas were incredible. I highly recommend watching one of those if you can find a good fancam video (or if you have Disney+ their entire PTD concert from LA in SOFI Stadium November 2021 is out there to watch still as of this writing). Fake Love is another great MV and song!

A crow tit is a small bird,-korean name Baepsae here used to represent the powerless underdogs. There's a korean idiom that says 'a crow tit trying to chase after a stork (long legged bird representing th epowerful and privileged in society) will likely tear its legs. 'This theme is more fully explored in their song 'Baepsae' which should be watched with an explanation video afterwards to understand the cultural context of the lyrics.

@@MasterGo89 I hope your wife does recover some of her love of dance. My sister is a dancer (Ballet, modern, Indian) and still dances (on pointe) at the age of 56. She dances with her daughters who are both excellent dancers and still dances for fun.

"I wrote the lyrics for BTS so we do not stay silent against social issues and injustice and continue to solve it and raise problem," he said. "We talk about social issues, read books and meet with experts and ponder together. We still have a long way to go, but we will think hard and embrace criticism."
The lyrics of "Not Today" speak of overcoming obstacles and keep fighting, while instilling hope in oneself. In the opening lyrics, RM calls out to "all the underdogs in the world." It discusses the theme of anti-establishment that was featured in their previous singles "No More Dream" and "N.O.", through lines like, "A day may come when we lose/ But it is not today/ Today we fight!" During the chorus, the band speak of rallying against injustice, corruption and irrationality; "Don’t kneel, don’t cry, raise your hands Not not today." The line, "Break the glass ceiling that cages you" references the idea of breaking all invisible barriers that stop people from succeeding. The lyrics addressed social and political issues (they are trying to rally the youth and let them know life is worth fighting for, possibly in response to the extremely high rates of youth suicide in their country from a generation that feels lost, unempowered and desperate.)

In Not Today, they're initially running from them, but you can see as it goes on that the haters became fans and instead of running FROM them, they run WITH them, even standing with them and taking the bullets of hate for them.
In Mic Drop, they start out sticking mics and cameras in their faces, and throughout, you can see them started to head bob and enjoy the music.
Also, yes, Yoongi did say "tastless ratatouille," his insults are honestly top tier in his verses
