- From DirecTV's broadcast of Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America, BoDeans perform "Closer to Free" at Miller Park in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers.

Such an underrated band
I have a question: why in the hell are these guys not more famous? This is one of the catchiest songs I’ve heard. The Go Slow Down album has other equally superb songs.
They would have been. It's all in the history of their breakup.
The first two albums were phenomenal. 3rd was good too. They opened for U2 in support of their 2nd album, and held their own. They were huge in Chicago.
Unfortunately, Sammy and Kurt had a falling out, over allegations (with no criminal complaint ever signed).
Kurt tours under the BoDeans name, while Sammy tours with his band. Seen them both, and Sammy is a million times better. His voice IS the BoDeans.

While I love everything BoDeans I believe their live performances capture the magic that is the BoDeans. I believe we all have a soundtrack for our lives; songs that remind us of events and people in our lives. The BoDeans are prominet on my personal soundtrack.

I am from Mississippi and the 'Deans have been my favorite band for 30 yrs.
A friend from Wisconsin turned me on to them in 85 (in Phoenix - we worked for the SP Railroad).
