I remember watching this game and being down 24-7 at the half and my sister was making fun saying we were gonna lose. I let her know who won after it was over haha.
He had a tremendous arm and he was a game competitor. He was a little too inefficient and frustrating to watch at times. I guess he was good, but not great.
During this game was the first time I felt like I was going to really pass out. I was screaming so loud when Hester scored on that punt, that I had to sit down. One of the greatest games I've been to.
I remember being at this game, I was 8. To this day it was the greatest football game I have ever been too. I miss the Orange Bowl. It solidified Devin Hester as my favorite Cane in my life time
A fun fact about the aftermath of this game; in spite of winning this game Miami actually dropped a notch or two in the polls and Louisville actually went up a couple of spots in the polls.
Which said Louisville played a very good team they lost but they deserve kudos. So what's the counterargument? The press and everyone hates the U. It's not even a secret
This game brings back memories who knew back then Louisville would be on the climb and Miami would start its decline after that year. A lot of players off both teams made it to the NFL.
5 Things Miami Needs to Bring Back.... 1. Rebuild the Orange Bowl at Tropical Park 2. Athletes 3. Physicality, Miami set the blueprint for current SEC play. 4. Black Shoes. 5. Black Socks.
I know us as fans were down on Brock Berlin, but he won some exciting games during his tenure (Florida 03, FSU 03 & Bowl, Louisville 04, Virginia 2004, Pitt 03). Obviously not Dorsey, but better than anyone since, including Morris.
Watching this video two things come to mind....how much I miss that magnificent stadium and Brock Berlin was a much better QB than he gets credit for...too bad he took over for Ken Dorsey...I will take him before kyle wright, Kirby freeman , Robert marve and all the other crap QBs we have had since then (excluding Kaaya)
The Orange Bowl was the best/loudest house in college football back then HANDS DOWN! I wish it could be like it was now. Which with this years team it could be.
It’s a shame, those mid 2000 Miami teams unfortunately really under achieved. We lost to North Carolina, Clemson, and West Virginia this year. And two of those loses were at the OB...
Miami won't have to live in the past they are stocked full of great talent and the NCAA cloud hanging over them is behind them now, golden develops players better than Shannon and Coker and when miami gets going again their gonna be hard to stop , they finally have the coaches and development to get them back on top. Now that Charlie strong is gone Louisville won't be getting many south Florida recruits they will be staying at home and making the hurricanes champs again . Florida isn't very good with muschamp and unless they develop a offense they will be looking for a new coach after 2014
Some people don't have a past to live in. ...or a present...or a future for that matter. Like Louisville fans. Aren't I right, CharlemagneReturns? His school can barely put together back to back 10 win seasons (only once in the entire history of the program), let alone string together 8 consecutive 10+ win seasons (most of which were 11 and 12 wins), 12 consecutive BCS bowl games (and then 4 straight again from 01 to 04), 9 national title game appearances, and 5 national titles. : ) Hell, his school has only had six 10+ win seasons in it's pathetic history. smh Yet these small fry think that they can talk sh*t because they can beat 11 girl scout troops and a weak Miami team. smh SYDAU
I have to take my hat off to Louisville they had a loaded team with the running back receivers great quarterback great defense. The only way Miami won that game was because it was at home and we had speed speed speed. Play the exact same team same players in Louisville stadium and I think we lose that game. But back then our fans were crazy and that power was just too much.
The Louisville team ended up averaging 50ppg and over 550 ypg that season , super high powered offense. Miami was the only lost. Had they won this game we may be having conversations about one of the greatest offenses ever even though that should be a conversation anyway.
I kind of got that since Canefreak put this up but how is that relevant? It's called "Miami vs. Louisville highlights" not "Miami highlights vs. Louisville" and there is a Louisville score in the reel. Why did they put that in there then?
As a Louisville Fan, I can admit that Devin Hester was UNBELIEVEABLE...... But if Kerry Rhodes does not drop the interception, we win. Great game. Hopefully we re-start the series someday. Go Cards!!!
The problem I have with these epic games starting in 2004 is that we tended to bury ourselves in a deep hole with stupidity and penalties and then would play well and come all the way back. We should have killed Louisville.
i don't remember the rankings from 2003-2004 but, if louisville is undefeated why are they ranked #17? and if miami is undefeated with there history why aren't they ranked #1???????
Their Defense got exposed in this game although they won this game lost a couple games a few weeks later @NC and Clemson at home which knocked them out of the picture
The man that almost single handedly destroyed the Football Program along with Donna E. Shalala. I am sure teams like Alabama have people like him, but they keep their mouth shut when they get caught.
This was a great game, but I also remember there being a holding call for Miami on every drive they had in the second half. Maybe that's just how it seemed. They had some players though. Not sure Brohm should have come in for Lefors in the second half. Tough loss for us, but we might beat Miami three in a row here shortly, we'll see. Great to be playing Miami regularly. Go Cards!
Anyone who needs to see how far our program has slipped need only look at the character of the players on here and compare it to the current lot. What an incredible comeback and how I miss seeing these types of playmakers doing their thing. Hester and Olson still doing it for the Bears...hard to believe this was 6 years ago,
Look at our pass rush compared to what we've seen recently. The D is straight up "See ball, kill ball carrier." 2. Hester is so unreal fast in these videos. It's insane. 3. Hopefully Cleveland will be our next huge TE that makes plays. We seriously need another one. 4. Devin Hester is insane.
Correction for Herbie at 4:52, the correct quote is "Big time players step up in big games. Thats all I gotta say." If you're gonna say it Kirk, get it right.
Hester returning kicks may be the fastest human I've ever seen. I miss those Canes!
Never seen a player run faster than his Kick return Vs the Gayturds in '03.
Mark Richt going to put
miami back with these type of athletes and back on top period a change is coming
Miami is back
Shiiddddd lol
💀lol Not gon happen💀
Lol they were back for a year
This didn’t age well.
I remember watching this game and being down 24-7 at the half and my sister was making fun saying we were gonna lose. I let her know who won after it was over haha.
this was the night i became a devin hester fan. GOAT
Miami hurricanes last good year smh but Devin Hester should’ve been a full time offensive player we fucked up there
Wow close game
We owe these fools go canes! Half the team is um sellouts!
@305GIT4LIFE wut?
RIP Bryan Pata
God Hester is a monster.
all time leader in the NFL. i think he got better after he went to NFL.
Devin Hester was the best.
Brock Berlin a very underrated QB in Miami history
What!?!? He was terrible
@@superboyBB5 Nah he was pretty good actually
He would've been better but he was in the wrong offense, he was better in the shotgun/spread
He had a tremendous arm and he was a game competitor. He was a little too inefficient and frustrating to watch at times. I guess he was good, but not great.
Yeah@@mchaelburdett6410
The best return man I ever seen in college football
And in the nfl.
Hester returning kicks is just unfair
During this game was the first time I felt like I was going to really pass out. I was screaming so loud when Hester scored on that punt, that I had to sit down. One of the greatest games I've been to.
Same. I’ve been to Nebraska UM 84 and two wide rights but this was the best game I’ve ever been to.
Devin Hester is something else. I don't get how he can make those cuts and STILL stay at his top speed.
I remember being at this game, I was 8. To this day it was the greatest football game I have ever been too. I miss the Orange Bowl. It solidified Devin Hester as my favorite Cane in my life time
RIP Orange Bowl. Probably the worst decision in Miami’s history to take it down.
A fun fact about the aftermath of this game; in spite of winning this game Miami actually dropped a notch or two in the polls and Louisville actually went up a couple of spots in the polls.
which is total horseshit
Which said Louisville played a very good team they lost but they deserve kudos. So what's the counterargument?
The press and everyone hates the U. It's not even a secret
when it was fun being a cane fan
This game brings back memories who knew back then Louisville would be on the climb and Miami would start its decline after that year. A lot of players off both teams made it to the NFL.
Man you said a mouthful….
Bring the inflatable helmet back!!! Through the smoke.
I remember that game vividly. The OB was insane. Imagine the tempo in there had that first return from Hester wasn't called back by Ortega??
5 Things Miami Needs to Bring Back....

Until Miami finds a quarterback.. They will never get back to where they were during the hey day of 2000-02.. Ken Dorsey was the man!
5:37 That’s how you bring the pain!!! The energy in that stadium was out the roof!!!!💪🏿🙌🏿
The Orange Bowl was the best/loudest house in college football back then HANDS DOWN! I wish it could be like it was now. Which with this years team it could be.
And they say we’ve never filled the stadium… even in big games. Haters will hate.
i keep watching 7:50 just to hear Mike Tirico's frantic call on Hester's return. what an incredible play and call.
Louisville lost this game, but went UP in the rankings. That's how much respect Louisville garnered with this performance.
Merryweather still hits like that in the NFL, and with the rule changes, it's gonna get him kicked out of the league
If Miami is an average team and they beat the Gators, what does that make UF?
Bitches.
Meriweather, Myers, Gore, Rolle, Jennings, Olsen, Hester, Parrish, Winston.
You're welcome, NFL.
The 2004 Miami Hurricanes.
All those future pro bowlers on Miami back then. SMH!
I went to this game it was such a great come from behind victory for us I will never forget this my last time at the orange bowl
It’s a shame, those mid 2000 Miami teams unfortunately really under achieved. We lost to North Carolina, Clemson, and West Virginia this year. And two of those loses were at the OB...
I think we just need shoes, socks and the Orange Bowl now.
Classless move by #3 Russell for Louisville at 10:25. 💯٪ sore loser..
@cardman880
actually, yeah he is in the video at 10:34 in the orange jersey
Devin heart has to be the Hester has to be the best Athlete to come of Miami
jd carmona Sean Taylor sir
Travis Stanley idk devin Hester was electric. Quickest player I've ever seen and top end speed is crazy
Miami won't have to live in the past they are stocked full of great talent and the NCAA cloud hanging over them is behind them now, golden develops players better than Shannon and Coker and when miami gets going again their gonna be hard to stop , they finally have the coaches and development to get them back on top. Just stop
I seriously watched the Brandon Meriwhether hit over 5 times..
I have to take my hat off to Louisville they had a loaded team with the running back receivers great quarterback great defense. Devin Hester, the best return specialist to ever do it!!!💯💯💯💯💯
I watched Pro and college football for over 40 years and Devon Hester is the greatest return man I’ve ever seen and I don’t even think it’s close
man you should've showed the highlight clip where Rolle and Russell were going at it all game
And green Jerseys
I kind of got that since Canefreak put this up but how is that relevant? It's called "Miami vs. Louisville highlights" not "Miami highlights vs. Louisville" and there is a Louisville score in the reel. Why did they put that in there then?

we need that swag back from 10:39
Complete team win all 3 phases contributed ain’t nothing like the 🙌🏾
i don't remember the rankings from 2003-2004 but, if louisville is undefeated why are they ranked #17? and if miami is undefeated with there history why aren't they ranked #1???????
That Meryweather hit across the middle!! Flat lineeeeeeeee💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Brock was a great comeback qb for us
devin hester had another gear most humans only wished they had..
@305GIT4LIFE not that it matters, but wouldn't you be 20 now? This game was in 2004 and you said you were 13. 7+13=20.
Larry Coker ruined a great program. We still haven't recovered from his incompetence.
How on earth did Miami not win the National Championship that year, look at all that NFL talent, Gore, Olsen, Hester, Rolle?
Their Defense got exposed in this game although they won this game lost a couple games a few weeks later @NC and Clemson at home which knocked them out of the picture
Can't blame coker.. Never found a Qb to replace ken dorsey..
Edward Fisher Brock Berlin was better then Dorsey he had no line
Damn I miss the games in the REAL Orange Bowl #GoCanes
4:43 That’s how you set the tone for the rest of the game!!!!!!!!! Hell of a HIT!!!!!!!
We got payback though! 2006 UOFL 31 Miami 7. Plus they stomped on the bird.. Hey canes, thats a no no.
10:33 Nevin Shapiro in the orange Rolle #6 jersey.....smh
Drew Anderson I see him
The man that almost single handedly destroyed the Football Program along with Donna E. Shalala. I am sure teams like Alabama have people like him, but they keep their mouth shut when they get caught.
Drew Anderson yoooooooooo. That fucking bastard. Good eye
Andew70 You know it and I hope and pray Georgia isn’t doing shit under the table with all these 5 star recruits now.
@stuatiswhitecow
stick to basketball misty, our 5 NC's are making you seem silly
Where are the Louisville scores? Went from 7-0 to 7-24 in an instant.
Devin Hester is a badass!!!! Dude chasing rabbits!!
Go Cards!
If Only is could be 2004 again...
These Miami teams will come again... U cant beat the location..
I forgot how much I hated Brock Berlin
Hester chasing rabbits. There goes that man.
Best game I’ve ever been to. Hands down
I wish Mike Tirico still announced college football...
we need to bring back the black shoes and black sox.
Why they keep kicking to Hester 😭😭
Louisville Football will forever suck.
(17)Miami is ok. Louisville is also average.
Devin Hester got more speed.
Nah Playa. He said "Big Time Players make Big Time Plays" in the postgame after beating Florida State in 2000
This team wasn’t even fair
For some reason, I always remembered that quote. I was amazed when I heard Herbie say it. Thought I was the only one who remembered that.
@cardman880 u mad because yall lost
Anyone who needs to see how far our program has slipped need only look at the character of the players on here and compare it to the current lot. What an incredible comeback and how I miss seeing these types of playmakers doing their thing. Hester and Olson still doing it for the Bears...hard to believe this was 6 years ago,

And then 2 years later they came to THE VILLE, stomped on our bird and got BEAT DOWN!
yo @canefreak2001 u think u can upload miami vs wake forest 2005? The game where kyle wright single handly dominated the demon deacons.
"Some clips got cut out by the DvD", huh? Like almost every UofL highlight. By the looks of it, I thought Miami would have won 80-7.
@bigbeast305 I just noticed that too. I find it weird that every time they show footage of him he's in an Antrel Rolle jersey lol
RIP Bryan Pata 10:32
So so so soooo many current NFL players were on both teams in this game might've been luivills most talented team
I remember this game... A lot of fun to watch. If LeFors didn't get hurt we would've won. Still a fun game to watch.
Miami just needs Golden to recruit like crazy...and he will be at least a 9 win team every year in the ACC
Appreciate ALL of the videos you've uploaded over the past year or so, Canefreak.
I'm always checking to see new ones. Thanks again.
The punter saw Hester coming, and he just took a seat!! I don't blame him for wanting to watch the show.
with you on that one. I personally hate our uniforms and think that nothing should have changed.
These where the Days When Miami had pure speed and powers. I Really miss the Orange Bowl.
Great game to watch, wish these teams would start up another home and home
mike terico is my dad
Mike Tirico is the best! Go Canes!
5:35 Brandon Meriweather destroyed the WR.
