Ronnie James Dio, Kurt Cobain. Neither should have died. Hole in my heart.
In the turbulent and aggressive world that was the heavy metal scene, DIO was a Rainbow in the dark. The meaning od that song hit me really hard.
The man was a master of his craft. Long live Ronnie James Dio.
Dio is probably the most underestimated heavy metal musician. shortly followed by Mustaine from Megadeth.
Whenever I feel blue, without hope. somber inside and just when I feel my worst I play Sir James Dio and all that shit seems to disapear!
I got to see Dio only once, and even then it was an opening gig for Scorpions and Deep Purple. I didn't get to see him at the "height of his power...lol" but it didn't matter. Shortened set or not it was Dio and my bucket list had been fully checked off.

Attended a Madison Square Garden concert in the mid 80’s. His singing was just as powerful and flawless live, as it was on vinyl. The fire breathing dragon was a bonus. Rest well R.J.D!

Just listen to some of Carmine Appice’s early live recordings of Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, and Beck, Bogart, & Appice and you’ll see why and where Vinnie got it from.

I remember seeing Ronnie with Black Sabbath back in the 80's.
Was the Mob Rules tour in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens and what a show!
I was a fan ever since and followed Ronnie's music till the day he left us.
Such a great metal vocalist and song writer non-compare.
Miss this man very much and thank his spirit for the memories he gave.
