This is despicable news, Nation. Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of Lostprophets has plead guilty to multiple charges stemming from his December 2012 arrest. The charges are a laundry list of sexual assaults, child pornography and even a count for possession of a photo involving beastiality. The centerpiece, however, is the attempted rape and sexual assault charges that involve a one-year old child. Watkins only didn't admit guilt to one charge on the docket, which was the actual rape charge.
Regardless of your feelings toward this band, this goes beyond music completely. Words cannot totally describe the absolute disgust that is flowing around my brain right now, and no doubt is beginning to fester within your own thoughts.

News just surfaced a second ago. He actually did rape and have sex with kids. And the mother was actually IN ON IT F****ING TOO! The mother filmed herself having oral sex with the baby! Doesn't stop there, they were planning on blowing crystal meth in the kids face "Next time they met up".

You should check them out. The band was actually good. Start Something and Liberation Transmission were so contradictory to this act. It kills me to know one of my favorite bands growing up is suffering and receiving hate. They shouldn't be hated for Ian's complete and utterly disgusting fuck up.

I admit, even my metal ears loved the piss out of "Rooftops" the first few times i heard it. They weren't bad. Haven't heard anything off their latest disc from 2012. I thought for a while they had been severely overlooked by the modern rock praisers, but they had a pair of gold albums, and even a platinum one. Not a bad career, to be honest.
I read the court case a few months ago and he's done so much more horrid things. Also, the mother of the child was involved which is just as sickening.
He should just be removed from this earth. He's a vile animalistic piece of shit.
This piece of news is one of the only news story that has actually shocked me. I'm talking about shock, I'm talking about sitting rooted to the chair as you stare at the words a couple of times to make sure what you're reading is true. In this day and age of social numbness, that's rare. That total sense of shock and disgust shouldn't be rare, and stuff like this should definitely be rare. I don't know what drives a person to do or even consider doing this, but I hope justice is served to Ian Watkins and the fucked up parents who let this happen.

Its funny how we are BOTH correct in our reactions in this regard. We who are wishing the worst for him have a certain correctness because this despicable act has caused a disgusted reaction. Think about what the man did, and imagine yourself in the shoes of a victim's family. It makes you SICK.
But, you're also right. When punishment for a crime would technically be a crime itself (death penalty is technically murder argument, or rogue justice ideas) it tends to raise a LOT of questions. HOWEVER, the final line of your argument made it no better than any other comment.
Humanity still has a certain subsection that thinks that you should be treated the way you treat others, in the case of deplorable crimes. Consider the post-9/11 America calling for Osama's head immediately, complete with torture. Consider the backlash of any other celebrity crime, from Michael Jackson to Michael Vick. People were calling for Vick to have his cock and balls bitten off by a pack of dogs. Is THAT ok because his crimes are animal cruelty based? Sometimes the punishment will NOT ALWAYS fit the crime. Sometimes all we can ask in the justice system is a penalty that will remove people from the streets and be incarcerated for a period of time, and reform their lives. But it should also be understood that when a crime touches a person (even if they aren't involved as a victim and just are on the sidelines!) it sparks a reaction that isn't always rational. Parents of young children have every right to be absolutely disgusted by this, Yeah, calling for murder may seem harsh, but a 1-year-old? Really? That's the prime example of innocence. That's the prime example of defenseless. That ramps of the severity of the disgust. And who's perfect? I'm certainly not. This crime shouldn't affect me in the slightest, I'm not a father, hell, I'm not even someone's brother or sister by blood, but I know parents of small children. I know children who look up to me and smile. The thought of this happening to any of them, regardless of age makes me mentally vomit.
THAT'S why this incites such a harsh reaction. NO CHILD deserves that. Period.

We just posted our take on this same subject. It begs the questions whether or not if anyone should continue listening to these guys because of Ian (and other artists accused/convicted of sex crimes). Our vote in this case is HELL NO. Very sick individual.

Only those who get the urges and act on them should be taken out of the gene pool. But you should know there are plenty of people with those urges that never act on them and never would.
Many of them are, in fact, ashamed of the urges and bury them as deeply as they can in their minds and never go anywhere near child porn and nowhere near abusing children.
So I think only those that have acted, would act on or have tried to act on those urges should be removed from the gene pool.

I think he definitely should be put away and not let out, and let that serve as an example that sexual abuse whether or not drugs were involved, is serious shit.
Unfortunately the legal system in the UK is fucking pathetic. This guy will get a couple of years then let out with a new identity. He was even out on bail when he committed some of the depravity. This country does not punish criminals like the US. A well known UK child killer and subsequent peado lives a live of freedom and has been let out of prison twice before the age of 30. I don't know what others thought of their music in general and i have no idea if the band mates knew he was like this (although how do you know a man for so many years and not have concerns?) but nobody will remember them for their music now they will be forever blacklisted all because of a sick and twisted man.

I remember when they came out! I never got too into them- like there was a song or two that I thought was decent but Jesus Christ! Never in a million years, like out of all the crazy ass musicians that I see and some of the fucked up lyrics I come out of these other bands, Ian Watkins was probably one of the last people I expected this from.
This may come across as ignorant but i always said he had a creepy vibe to him that made me suspicious, then i mentioned it to my friend but then she told how when she was at school he used to visit her at break time (she was 14 at this point)....he deserves everything he gets!

This time next year, he will most prob be dead by killing himself because he's already on suicide watch. Suicide though would be too good for him. I have a feeling once he get's sentenced that he will be in a safer part of the prison to stop him from being killed. If he survives his entire sentence though, I'm sure he will be lynched the moment he walks out and rightfully so. It is dispicable that a human is capable of such things. While most won't admit it, people associate many things with sex; we were brought up that way. Most of the time, they aren't serious thoughts, or about children, but the thoughts exist. People, sometimes, come in many forms of fucked up; this is one of them. I think that's why they take care of criminals; aside from the fact that they're afraid to kill if they can't, at least, act as if they were in danger. >.>

I don't care much about what people do, as long as they don't spoil other people's lives. I'm glad this guy's not from a band I like, because now that band - and sadly the metal community probably too - will get a shitstorm of hate from everybody who already hates metal. That is maybe the saddest thing of it all, and I think it's better that we as a community describe our thoughts, instead of outsiders who just want to spoil our fun with this music. Of course, we had some weird things going on in metal, but almost never anyone who put his shitty problems in other people's asses.
I always presumed that he's gay, especially at the time of liberat transmission, but hell, that would be a total normal reality if that would be true. It is terrible indeed how abnormal things can be done by men/women under abnormal state (drugs etc.) I have no idea (from personal experience which I have none in this matter) what effect drug or any other "illegal" thing's has, and I don't know the guy personally, so whatever I say about him would lost credibility in advance. All I can say, I'm not the man who would shout, or demand killing/torture a guy ... I think it's enough torture for the person himself to live with a darkness like this (If has any good/light in him yet), I pity him, and a man with issues need help, definitely. I just don't think killing, torturing, ignoring him would help his ... i don't know, rehabilitation(!?) but of course leaving him without penalty would be a sin, too. All I know: evil begets evil ... Rehab isn't something that works with the majority of pedophiles. They often end up offending again, even if they were rehabilitated. I'm not saying I disagree with your main point, but I'd rather have no pedophiles on Earth through any means possible than rehabilitate them just to give them the potential chance to do it again.
I was disappointed by the fact that they disbanded and that he did such things. However, I'm not angry with him, I don't know why. I'm angry at the thing that there are things that are said to be right and wrong. Why are they right? And why are other things wrong? Why do we need an institution like the court to decide for us if people are guilty or not. If we lived in a world, where people could solve their problems on their own it'd be just fine, for example if I were to find out that there is someone plotting to rape my child, I'd just kill him. Strong survive, weak are obliterated. That's it. Why are there moral categories such as good and bad, when everything is different for everyone. Why can't I enjoy something I like, because society doesn't approve it. Fuck what everyone thinks, I can think on my own, and so could Ian. But of course he must have been familiar with the risks of his own fetishes. And he takes his consequences before society.
And before you attack me, I will say that I am NOT defending Ian, for if he were a little bit more careful he might have gone on fucking children and animals or whatever he fucked. He screwed up because he let himself get revealed. Fuck him and the disappointment he brought to millions of fans and his bandmates.
