My first quilt was twin sized. I hand pieced it and hand quilted it as well. I doubt I ever reached the speed of Yoko Saito, but I enjoyed the process. It was a pinwheel pattern and I used a template for each piece. Hand marked it. I love the traditional methods.
I know you left this comment 2 years ago but if you never found out about the thimble. it's a Sahiko thimble, and her technique is a Sashiko rocking motion. I'm definitely going to try it 😁😁😁
I thought the same thing.. I wouldn't be surprised. They should have a Sewing/Craft olympics!! You could have an opening ceremony and different "sports" (Sewing, knitting, spinning, crochet, card making etc... on and on.. I would watch!)
Hmmm that gives me an idea!! LOL... That would be seriously FUN!... I know that would throw something that is pleasurable into a SPORT competitive thing.. but still.. it would be funny..
Very interesting. I did want to point out, though, that although the narrator keeps saying that she is pressing the seam allowance towards the center, in the photos it appears she is actually pressing them away from the center. Just saying. :)
Hi Leticia, Yoko Saito's fabrics are available through Lecien fabric company; a search like "Yoko Saito Lecien" should bring up lots of places you can find her fabrics! Thanks for your question!
I could watch her work all day long. I am new to hand stitching and refer to this video frequently.

She sure can stitch, but the nail polish is very distracting.
Video lacks any useful information. However, the technique was inspiring.
