One of the best presentations of this camera I have seen.
After a couple of years i think the 10x zoom is greatly over exaggerated. With the softness of the lens above 120mm i dont use it often. The features and customization this camera offers is what makes it so great. As he stated post focus and 4k are reallyvhelpful. You really have to get this camera dialed in to your preferences to appreciate it. Forget sooc, you got to set the sharpness, noise reduction , contrast etc. to your liking. I found this out on a dpreview forum. It kept me from returning the camera. Its not perfect, but its a pretty good shooter. Lens stabilization is really god also. If only it had a global shutter.
Nice review and a good camera. I bought this camera about a month ago and love it as a companion to my GX7. It can go places (like concerts) where I cannot take the GX7 and additional lenses. This is now the camera that is with me traveling to and from work etc, as well.
I am testing out the ZS 100 right now against the Sony RX 100 Mark four so far in the short time I have had it the image quality is subpar to the Sony. The question I'm asking myself is all these features or tricks that this Panasonic gives you can they be done in post on most imaging software? So can I shoot 4K video with the Sony and pull images from that video. Post focus is unique and could be used during a group photo just to make sure you have your party in. focus The zoom is its main feature I believe. I am testing Sony's digital zoom versus their optical which should be the winner for the Panasonic.
Thanks for explaining in detail bursts and post focus. Very comprehensive review!
Just bought this camera. it is brilliant
How is it now?
Cool camera review from Steve Buscemi!
Excellent presentation of this camera and most of it's basic functions,...too many to mention here, could be very confusing to absorb all of it. Great picture samples.
You are definitely very good at what you do. Makes me want to book a flight to Australia and start taking photos with this camera, which I'm hoping to buy soon. Replace my Lumix ZS15.
Great video! I'm currently looking at replacing my Sony A6000 and considering stepping down into a TZ110. Does it record video in 60fps? I've seen both 50 and 60fps mentioned? Thanks!
Hmmm odd as I'm seeing 60fps referred to a lot. It would seem odd not to offer it since the iphone has had 60fps for years.
This guy is great. He has sold me on the ZS100 here in Canada! I just bought it on ebay!
Should I buy this 2nd hand or buy a TZ220 new ? Is the only difference the zoom length?
The most informative video I've seen for the ZS100 yet.I have a question about the post focus 4K. Are you able to chose a section of focus points to capture rather than the full 49 on the whole frame? Also, after the picture if taken do you have to chose which image of the 49 you wish to save (deleting the rest)?
Do you have a favorite between these cameras LUMIX DMC-TZ100 VS LX10. I want to use it as a travel pocket camera.
Great Review Shawn - informative, educational and entertaining. Based on your review, i bought the camera a couple of days ago, and i love it. Thanks cobber. Keep up the good work. Love your reviews. Cheers and Beers
Recently got this camera. Was wondering what the 4k is all about. This video explained it well! Thank you so much!
The lack of any decent grip concerns me. I was quite interested in this model until the Nikon DL series was announced.
I bought this camera about a month ago and love it as a companion to my GX7. The Nikon DL and the RX100 have much shorter zoom range, so this was the only camera I could find that really fits that niche. For the zoom range of the DL and RX100 I would rather have the Lumix LX100 which has a 4/3 sensor as opposed to 1".
you can also manually tilt the pop up flash for a bounce
How does it perform in low light situation like in a live concert?
still reccomend it? looks a great camera for my travel and urban style pictures and it will fit easy in my gopro seeker backpack and for action pictures and videos i use my gopro aswell will this be an good camera that goes with that?
I love your reviews all the way from Chicago. Thank you.
Thanks Steven, glad you enjoyed :)
This camera can capture picture during videoing without stopping recording video.
The problem is I can only get downgraded picture from there.
FZ1000ii have option to choose the picture to be higher quality L or low quality S.
Does ZS100 have high quality L option?
Hi could i please ask if this camera is still worth buying in 2024? How does it compare to phone cameras please?
Were'nt magazine cover photos shot at minimum 7mp back in the day? I wonder if it is still at that rate? I lost my Canon G9x that was even smaller but like the sony rx100 only a 3x to 4 soom and thats the 1 thing I always wanted on my Japan trip was a longer zoom so this Lumix Leica mix camera is the perfect replacement and I just bought one today and I can only say WOW that zoom is PERFECT. I am officially Done shopping now...
Excuse me...But, Are you Steve Buscemi's kid brother?
Great presentation!!
One question:
Can one convert 4K video to 1080 IN CAMERA?
Same question goes for RAW to JPEG.
+digiDIRECT Thanks! Keep on sharing!
Between the sony DMC hx90v and panasonic zs100, which one is much better ? I just bought the sony hx90v But it's not really Cool, or not really sharp, not really satisfied to me. Can you give an opinion ?
Hi! can you shoot video in manual mode? i know Lx15 is brighter sensor than Tz100, but i like the zoom of Tz100, is so bad the quality because of that? thanks
Excellent report. I am about to buy one of these.

I just got one yesterday for my Overseas Trip. I hope it does a good job. I dont like carrying around my DSLR on holiday
Its a VERY complicated camera and it will take time getting used to. If you dont want your trip pics ruined, I suggest you thoroughly test and experiment with it. You can not just set it to Auto. Focusing is difficult and the settings are overly complicated. I am still thinking of getting rid of it as I have only used it on one trip. Later today I will, coincidentally be uploading the one video I shot with it. Vaporwave Metro.
I think you have misunderstood the '1" sensor' spec. I inch refers to the focal length not the size. This is a good size sensor but actually quite small
No, it is a 1" sensor, that does not refer to the focal length. A 1" sensor is indeed smaller than a mirrorless or DLSR camera will provide, but it is much larger than most compacts (which often have 1/2.3" sensor size)
Great review, lots of practical info and presented well =)
Nice review Steve. However, you did not mention about night photography capability of this camera. How does that compare with LX10 ?
what's the maximuit m rec.time for 4K? On another review i saw the LX100 records for max 15 min
Hi Shawn, great review! I video a lot of concerts and only allowed to bring in pocket size cameras, could you give me a little feedback on the audio quality? Cheers Alex
very cool, but i'd rather have wider aperture than longer zoom. they're about to release that version.
I've gotta get one of these. Thank you.
Can you pull focus on the touch screen when in video mode?
Great I decided to get this after watching your video. Could have done with more 4k footage, but great job.
Thank you for the nice review.
Anybody considering buying this in 2019? Any better options in this price range for the same/similar specs- large sensor with decent zoom in compact size with 4k video and touchscreen, viewfinder etc.
I just bought one as it's so cheap for a holiday or every day carry camera!
@@Nick_G7IZROh that's nice. Are you happy with your purchase ?
@@mansishah8747 Yes for the price. I have a few cameras. For pocket every day carry cameras, I also have the Fuji XF10 which produces better images as it is an APS-C 24mp sensor. But its a fixed lens and in some situations (holidays for one), you might want a zoom lens and decent video. So yes, I'm happy with it for the combination of price, zoom and sensor size. I've stopped carrying the XF10 as much. It's now just a street camera.
@@Nick_G7IZR thank you! Then I might consider getting it. My only hesitation was that it was released few years ago. But it seems that for this price range n features there is not much competition even in 2020.
I just ordered it in 2021. It was the only compact camera I could find with a 1 inch sensor and decent zoom. ZS200 is also an option but only offers a small amount of additional zoom while being more expensive (and somewhat less compact). I wanted a pocket camera that I can always have with me when I don't bring my large one. I'm not totally against going with a 1/2.3 sensor but if I can get a 1 inch, why not?
Interesting why I haven't seen any tests with the izoom, which takes the it up to 20x, which according to Panasonic, there's no degradation in picture quality
The "extra optical zoom" as Panasonic call it allows for zooming up to 20x without any quality degradation (specifically at lower resolutions: at 10mp it allows 25-350mm focal range, and at 5mp 25-500mm). The izoom feature can then be used on top of that to get "up to 2x higher than the original zoom ratio with limited deterioration of picture quality" (quoted directly from the user manual for this camera).
Thanks Shawn for an excellent review in lay-mans language. From a grateful Pom !
Can this camera record video and be powered by USB charger at the same time and not draining the battery?
Did not tell me what I want to know . Does it have a mic socket and a HDMI out .
The north American version has a 30 minute limit for video. The one he was talking about is 15.
How about at least one shot that actually shows the SAME image at wide angle and then zoomed in for some reference???
Is their gonna be a Leica version?
will the zoom work while I record a video ?
Dommage pour le flash qui ne sors pas automatiquement
Does this have a panaramic feature? Great review
Cool review
Thanks
This for video making?
your review is excellent. The only part I´m missing in all reviews is how well the cam does in filming lets say, sports, a rugby match for example.. Video samples are always too calm and then as soon as there is some movement going on, at least in the FZ1000 and FZ300, it´s a mess in my opinion, unpresentable...moiree or artifacts or who knows what else..plus the FZ1000 doesn´t focus consistently
Great review. Lots of good information. Thanks !
Good review keep up the good work.
Great review, thanks.

Does it have manual mode? How good is it?
what is biggest apperture ?
can you change the len
Hi there. No, this is not an interchangeable lens camera
Can someone plz tell me if the camera fits into the pocket of jeans or shirt ?
the only thing missing is the articulating screen.
Great review.
Good review dude
do you still get blurry backgrounds when zoomed in?
thanks. im trying to choose between those two cameras. is it correct to say it will be hard to get entire image in focus with the rx100 because the smallest aperture is 2.8?
Omg Awesome Review !!! Bravo 👏👏👏👏 I'm so getting it !!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed

thanks for that review
Good old Panasonic and different names for the same product in different markets and therefore devaluing reviews and comparisons. Apple has so much to learn with their iPhone naming conventions....
These Lumix Cams are eccelenti which always remain with the old sive
Lumix kitchen new rooms to Keep unnecessary of high prices!
TZ110 raw test used third parties it is below desired points.
The zoom is still a big handicap Lumix so even 4k which are not as bright as they should be ..... Lumix maybe it really alal scope of the cam that could have all CARACTERISTICS for a bright cam!
cool review
Very helpful. Thank you :D

Who is this yank hippie??
He might actually be Canadian, because he says the letter 'Z' as 'zed' (which is the way Canadians, Australians, Brits and New Zealanders say it) quite naturally and without hesitating or second-guessing himself. If he is a Yank, he has likely spent a very long time living in Australia but somehow managed to retain his accent.
Although he does say 'versatile' as 'versatuhl', the way Americans would say it, while Canadians, Australians, Brits and Kiwis would say 'versa-tile'.
Steve Buscemi
Poor build quality, nasty shiny body with no grip.
When it take video action, can I change the ISO as dark or bright during taking video ?
