People seem to forget that fishman island, skypia, wano and dressrosa were so long because there was a lot of connections to the story of the ancient void century. History repeats itself, thematically, at least. In the same way that oden died, ace the next second commander died. In the way otohime saved a celestial dragon, that dragon saved her daughter. In the way doflamingo enslaves the tontattas for smiles, the ancient kingdom he's emulating did the same. In the way that enel showed up on skypia and said this land is now mine, the ancient lunarians were kicked out of their home and killed. The reason a lot of these arcs feel long and self contained is because oda is drawing a clear distinction on how the the players in the story change, but the same themes and specifically problems tend to repeat themselves. I think a big part of his thought process on this, is the notion that when we forget history we repeat it and in a show about history being forgotten, erased and guarded, just seems to be similar.

Good choice waiting for the remake, dude. I LOVE One Piece, but the pacing of Dressrosa was so awful that it absolutely ruined what would’ve otherwise been a spectacular arc. Save yourself from 150 flashback and reaction shot filled episodes!

Honestly, you could start with the Live Action just for the gist of it. Then wait for the Wit Studio remake. A lot of people I know started with the LA and ended up binge watching the entire 1000+ plus episodes. Or you could just simply watch the anime, drop it, then watch it again on your own pace. As long as you enjoy it.
@@ja3033 I completely forgot about the live action lol, I'll definitely check it out bc I've heard it's very good!! Thank you for reminding me about this
10:29 just a small correction, this is a fan analysis from a person on twitter of how it could be if Wit Studios decided to cover all the chapters, for now only East Blue Saga is confirmed. And as for all other chapters being compressed into 263 episodes, for now it's just a fan analysis, and if Wit were to cover all the chapters there's no gurantee it would be able to put all 1000 plus chapters in 263 episodes. I personally don't think alabasta and Marineford could be done in the amount of episodes this fan analysis presented, unless much stuff is cut
Exactly and if people want so much cut in order to fit all this into that small amount of episodes, just cancel the project because that will be a waste of time! I like the anime and don't mind the pacing so long as it follows the manga as closely as possible.
@@Allons-Y-04 I highly doubt it? Just to put it into perspective, Attack on Titan has a toral of like 90-something episodes. It has 140 or so chapters. I don't think many people would complain about the pacing of that series at all, and it has literally more than half the episodes that it has chapters. One Piece has over 1100 chapters, and even if you gave them optimal pacing, taking into account the lore dumps (that you can't really cut any information out of or speed up too much), the emotional moments (that NEED time to breathe), the action, the exploration of new locations, all of the creative liberties the studio would take to make these as exciting and fun as possible (and any extensions they would make in terms of action especially), it would be baffling if they could shove all of that into less than a quarter of the episodes than they have chapters. I would say 500-700 episodes is more reasonable (with 500 being the absolute lowest number I think they could manage to pull it off in, barely), just off of the CURRENT content they have to adapt.
@@Jb-id1bu imo it's not the number of episodes that's the "pacing problem", but rather how the said episode progresses which itself is clunky. The anime itself is slow, and especially in levely arc, half of each episode got occupied by flashbacks to arcs that everyone knows anyways. I don't think it's a number of episode problem but rather the episodes just go slowly
Wano feeling "disjointed" is something I can absolutely not agree on. There may be many characters but everything has context and purpose. Also that estimate on the episode count of the remake at 10:31 is totally bonkers. There is NO WAY arcs like TB will only be 12 episodes or that Wano will only have 38. Whoever made this estimate is absolutely nuts! I think the remake will have at least 400-500 episodes in total.
2:18 AOT is seasonal anime, one piece is weekly long series anime... Big difference.. 1997 manga started 1999 started They have to stretch the arcs and scenes or else the gap between each other will catch up... The anime is being aired in Japan tv weekly slot.. they can't afford to lose it, money and reputation of course. Pacing is necessary as Naruto filler is the same .
Ok. I don't like that tho... I think it should have been given the same time and attention as other masterpieces like AOT. Its a great story that deserved more love than what it got ygm? It should have been adapted into a better paced seasonal anime imo

Haven't you heard the the news about the remake version, animated by WIT STUDIO and produced exclusively by NETFLIX, next year?
I really enjoy watching these type of videos of "new" anime fans. The anime community can sometimes get a bit divided. I love how you like so many things.
I think we can all agree that Toei can make a better work with the animations most of the time (they shine on key episodes and have stepped up their quality over time tho), but to be fair, they have been keeping running One Piece since it started without interruption (other than events in Japan and stuff like that, basically around 44-45 episodes a year...). Comparing One Piece animation with Attack on Titan (a seasonal anime) is not fair in any way haha. But I agree, I did love Attack on Titan animation (both WIT and Mappa) and I can't imagine the resources that Toei should dedicate to One Piece to make an episode with that animation every week haha...
One of the biggest issues with the anime is the lack of emphasis on important aspects of the story or parts of the story that will come back around. Oda uses every aspect of the manga to tell his story, even the cover pages. The dialogue can drop important lore or hints without being explicit, but the anime breezes past the stuff they don’t think is important right now. That leaves a lot of anime viewers feeling like a plot point comes up out of nowhere or that everything is random and has no explanation. It’s also a lot more difficult to remember names and faces with so many characters in the series. I really wish there was a better way to experience One Piece than having to flip back and forth between the anime and manga, but as of now that is the best experience. Hopefully the reanimated series will be the all-encompassing version.
Well one piece is weekly anime not the seasonal anime like other like aot or jjk so part for animation we can't expect best animation all of episodes 😢😢😢 For new fans maybe one piece remake will be the answer to start one piece with better animation and paceing For old friend like me just be patient and we get good feast everyweek for final saga 🥳🥳🥳

Good video, however i would like to say whoever told you the OP remake would be 200 eps is smoking CRACK lol, like maybe if it was a half-assed/rushed adaptation but id say it'll be more like 400-700 eps somewhere in-between there
A fair warning to whoever is thinking ab waiting for WIT: you'll have to wait like 20yrs for them to adapt the whole story + you'll miss the most awaited reveal in manga/anime history, WHAT is the One Piece and u're 100% going to be spoiled on the internet
I actually don’t think it will take that long. It won’t be anywhere near as long as current One Piece. But it will still take a long time I can’t lie… worth the wait imo
@@Allons-Y-04 when i did the numbers i also couldnt believe how long it would take WIT but i have to trust the math my guess is based on the hope WIT can release a 24ep season per yr which is a lot considering they like to take their time with their production (AOT for example). My guess is the manga might end around 1300. A good paced One Piece anime imo covers like 3 manga chapters per anime episode so to adapt 1300 it would take 1300/3 = 433 eps. if WIT releases 24 eps per yr it would take 433/24 = 18yrs. I rounded up to 20yrs just in case they release seasons with shorter episode count tbh WIT taking a long time to adapt One Piece doesnt bother me if they pull AOT level production
Its funny, I enjoyed One Piece the entire time but Luffy was someone I didnt like all that much until Thriller Bark and the whole "Nothing happened." scene. It was fascinating because I felt like in that moment me and Zoro both, finally truly understood him as a character
There is literally nothing wrong with the animation at the beginning. Calling it bad or a product of its time cause its not the new shiny shit is ridiculous, old hand drawn animations look beautiful, you really gotta expand your art palette
If u like it then that’s genuinely good. I would much rather people enjoy it and I’m not trying to convince anyone it’s bad. I just don’t like old school animation… actually I’m just not a fan of Toei’s animation at all. Personal preference yk
Thats exactly why I first started to like him lol... then it turns out he was a cold character anyway (cus Levi and Law have the same VA in sub and in dub)
You need to read Hunter x Hunter yesterday. It's pretty much JJK's cooler more tsundere older brother, particularly in the combat/power system, with the same level of world building and character-driven plot (it also gives way too many backstories like what you said about Wano, but in a good way imo) as One Piece
If you're newer to anime I would like to recommend Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm not crazy into anime, I like interesting power/magic systems, character development, and people beating the piss out of each other, but it's one from the 90s I hold dear to my heart. First 5 episodes people often say are harder to get through, but if you can stick through 21 episodes you'll know if it's for you or not. It's got a tournament arc that helped define the tournament arc genre in anime. I've got about $6k in tattoos from the show if you'll take that as an endorsements of sorts. It's a rare case of dub over sub if you do check it out. Cheers.
One thing to consider when it comes to animation is seasonal vs weekly. You can't rightfully judge something seasonal like Attack on Titan against a weekly anime like One Piece because there's issues OP has that AOT doesn't. Namely, that weekly anime is usually not going to be as good as Seasonal anime when it comes to visuals because they have smaller amounts of time to get it done in. During Marineford they experimented with having multiple animation teams they'd rotate through (you can see this especially during the episodes with the Strawhats on different islands, as they allowed the teams at that point to do what they wanted style-wise for each island, thus why Robin's animation is incredibly different). They've tried to combat the issue of time crunch in various ways, but I think they've really found a good balance during Wano and Egghead. On top of that is also the age-old issue of catching up to the manga, which leads to either having to add filler interactions or pad episodes out. TBH, I'd be down with them taking a hiatus for a while or indulging in a longer filler arc (like G8 which is one of the best filler arcs in anime to date) so that padding isn't necessary, but this does contribute to the animation quality, too.
Wit studio might be great but i wonder they did great job on portraying emotions like toei did and especially voice actors of One piece are gems, they’re just wonderful and put lives on fictional characters with amazing voices.
LESGO! Your theory is quite accurate. So now what? What will happen next? You said Sukuna will be murked in the recent chapter, now please tell us what happens next?
Currently Studio Mappa is producing a reboot of the One Piece manga called "The One Piece". Hopefully we finally get a worthy adaptation of this masterpiece.
I agree on the Anime vs Manga take; I hold pretty much the same pov. If both manga & anime had the same director/"overlord"/Quality control, then Anime would be the superior media like you said, the voices, ambiance, background music, background sound effects, movements, and diverse range of colors add so much more depth.. Two simple examples in One Piece would be the Body-Swap section during Punk Hazard arc, in the manga this was relatively super confusing when which character was talking and with which "personality", this was so much more transparent and obvious in the anime. And another couple examples would be the end of wano leading into egghead arcs. The animation, music etc. for both Zoro & luffy.. imo Chef's kiss... Obligated mention though, there are obviously exemptions to this Anime Vs Manga pov.. a very simple one would be Berserk.. The Manga panels are phenomenal... meanwhile... the fuckin anime... all its different adaptations.. they're Meh at best... And i loved tf out of that weird af story.
I started one piece and mostly short time i also finish all episodes My advice if anyone want to watch one just wait for last episode Oda playing people mind very brutality
Good explanation tbh, agree with almost everything. Maybe someday u should describe ur experience with the Marine fort war arc, it has a lot of depth and good story writing.
The pacing in one piece is due to its air time on japanese tv.. so you cant blame toei to drag everything. also its aired every week. even ODA cant keep up with that as well as he need break every now and then. So toei needs to drag the story or insert a filler.. Its not like a series on netflix that they will release all episode in one go after the writer finish everything. Also there are some fillers that are actually good even if its not important in the main story..
In the manga, we are still expecting a good 3 to 5 years until it's over. In the Toei animation side, it will take around the same time or more because of the pacing. The Wit Studio version will catch up to the current story arc in the future for sure. And with One Piece rising popularity, the Netflix live action will be a series that will span decades of production.
The picture you showed earlier is only a speculation, and those numbers are ABSURD, you cant put 5 wano chapters into an episode without making it feel rushed lol
The Luffy glaze won me over, Luffy is my glorious king! On a more serious note though, I think Jimbei's goal is to inherit Otohime/Fisher Tiger's goal to have fishmen co-exist with humans. I am sad that you didn't enjoy the Otohime/Fisher Tiger flashback though, that's probably my favorite backstory in the series, if not top 3. I hope Wit Studio is able to create the anime adaptation that One Piece deserves.
The biggest benefactor of the remake will be the LRLL arc. It’ll go from bottom of F tier all the way up to…. Well ok only like C tier. But that is still a huge glow up.
what Jinbe wants-equality between the Fishmen and humans-is strongly connected to one of the major mysteries in "One Piece." Jinbe is striving to create a world where the Fishmen are treated fairly, a dream that past characters like Queen Otohime and Fisher Tiger also pursued. As for the apology Robin read in the Poneglyph, it's believed to be from Joy Boy, who, in the past, tried to fulfill a promise to the Fishmen but failed, leaving an apology on the Poneglyph. This promise likely involves achieving peace and equality between the Fishmen and humans and may be part of a larger plan connected to the Ancient Weapons and the "Void Century." Regarding the prophecy of Luffy destroying Fishman Island, this was hinted at by Madame Shyarly, who predicted that Luffy would destroy the island. However, like many prophecies in "One Piece," the interpretation may not be literal. The destruction of the island could be part of freeing it from oppression or a significant change in the world to achieve equality and freedom.
With bleach getting the new Hell arc announced and the TYBW anime coming back this October you could also make some bleach videos. With what you said you like about One Piece and Jujitsu Kaisen, I think you’d enjoy Bleach too.
@@cocojumbo539 JJK is much better then mid piece, JJK actually has complex themes, stakes, good pacing, and well written characters. Oda can't write stakes cause he's never delivered on any stakes he's set, there are no consequences to Luffy being 24/7 stupid or Sanji's perversion, both character traits that should have consequences so that they can be developed out of the character. One Piece is a good kids show but ain't anything better then that
If you loved One Piece than you will going to love Hunter X Hunter similar structure in writing and the way the characters are portrayed and also the world.
That "Wit Studio will compress OP into about 200 eps" is a guesstimate that some random fan made, not an actual fact. Honestly, I'd be looking at more around the 400-500 mark (especially as we don't know how long the manga will continue to go - Oda is notoriously bad at giving proper deadlines. He said it'd be done 'in under 5 years' about 4 years back and.... yeah, I doubt it's wrapping up in a year from now when we haven't even hit Elbaf yet.)
my friend, you won't believe it, but I can explain why the dress rose was of such poor quality. the fact is that the studio did a parallel one piece of dragon ball super and that was in the flesh until 2019, the studio even postponed some episodes so that they would not be released on one weekend in one piece it was episode 806 and in dragon ball super this is an episode with Goku's ultra instinct, and I'll also add, as for me, to cut off seasonally anime and such a long-lasting as one piece is a very strange idea
There is one excuse, and a very reasonable excuse, for the inconsistent animation. By the nature of a weekly release anime, budget and manga release schedules determine everything. It's hard to tell your talented animators to ignore the gear 5 fight to go back and animate some ice oni shenanigans. Not to mention that they effectively do 1 chapter per episode now, so stretching the chapter to, regardless of length, fit perfectly inside a 20 min episode is impossible without tons of dead time and/or filler. Theyve gotten better about it, but you really felt it when they started having less to adapt post time-skip
I agree with you when you say one piece is drawnout, but I would also like to remind you that one piece manga hasent finished yet and the anime needs to keep up with the manga but not catch up with it. So when the anime gets close to catch up with the manga they reduce the pacing of the anime instead of giving unnecessary fillers which might contradict the anime story in the future. Thats why one piece still has less fillers compare to naruto when one piece is twice the size of it.
@@NotSomeJustinWithoutAMoustache okay but that doesn’t mean you can’t finish a series in 14 years. That’s actually crazy. A chapter takes like 5 minutes

I think a big part of his thought process on this, is the notion that when we forget history we repeat it and in a show about history being forgotten, erased and guarded, just seems to be similar.
The foreshadowing and set up is good but it doesn’t justify how long and boring arcs like Fishman island can be sometimes (imo)

I’d like it tho
I think it’s doable in 300ish
@@Allons-Y-04
I highly doubt it?
The wit studio episode count is NOT confirmed and just a complete guess from fans

They have to stretch the arcs and scenes or else the gap between each other will catch up...

Well one piece is weekly anime not the seasonal anime like other like aot or jjk so part for animation we can't expect best animation all of episodes 😢😢😢

@@Allons-Y-04 when i did the numbers i also couldnt believe how long it would take WIT but i have to trust the math
my guess is based on the hope WIT can release a 24ep season per yr which is a lot considering they like to take their time with their production (AOT for example). My guess is the manga might end around 1300. A good paced One Piece anime imo covers like 3 manga chapters per anime episode so to adapt 1300 it would take 1300/3 = 433 eps. if WIT releases 24 eps per yr it would take 433/24 = 18yrs. I rounded up to 20yrs just in case they release seasons with shorter episode count
tbh WIT taking a long time to adapt One Piece doesnt bother me if they pull AOT level production

You need to read Hunter x Hunter yesterday. It's pretty much JJK's cooler more tsundere older brother, particularly in the combat/power system, with the same level of world building and character-driven plot (it also gives way too many backstories like what you said about Wano, but in a good way imo) as One Piece
I have watched the HxH anime twice now but I tried to continue reading the manga and I just wasn’t feeling it… the anime is very good tho
Cheers.
I just watched yu yu last month.now it's my top 5

Good explanation tbh, agree with almost everything. Maybe someday u should describe ur experience with the Marine fort war arc, it has a lot of depth and good story writing.
That’s actually a really good idea icl… thanks and glad u enjoyed 🙏
The pacing in one piece is due to its air time on japanese tv.. so you cant blame toei to drag everything. also its aired every week. even ODA cant keep up with that as well as he need break every now and then. So toei needs to drag the story or insert a filler.. Its not like a series on netflix that they will release all episode in one go after the writer finish everything. Also there are some fillers that are actually good even if its not important in the main story..
post timeskip One Piece is a master class in "worst pacing possible" right up until Whole Cake (roughly)
Jimbei wants the fishmen to be protected and treated fairly. The story of a fight for civil rights. He's basically the antithesis of Hody Jones.
The picture you showed earlier is only a speculation, and those numbers are ABSURD, you cant put 5 wano chapters into an episode without making it feel rushed lol
Yeah ppl have told me, sorry my mistake 😔

This promise likely involves achieving peace and equality between the Fishmen and humans and may be part of a larger plan connected to the Ancient Weapons and the "Void Century."
Regarding the prophecy of Luffy destroying Fishman Island, this was hinted at by Madame Shyarly, who predicted that Luffy would destroy the island. However, like many prophecies in "One Piece," the interpretation may not be literal. The destruction of the island could be part of freeing it from oppression or a significant change in the world to achieve equality and freedom.

He said it'd be done 'in under 5 years' about 4 years back and.... yeah, I doubt it's wrapping up in a year from now when we haven't even hit Elbaf yet.)

my friend, you won't believe it, but I can explain why the dress rose was of such poor quality. the fact is that the studio did a parallel one piece of dragon ball super and that was in the flesh until 2019, the studio even postponed some episodes so that they would not be released on one weekend in one piece it was episode 806 and in dragon ball super this is an episode with Goku's ultra instinct, and I'll also add, as for me, to cut off seasonally anime and such a long-lasting as one piece is a very strange idea

real quick that episode list you put at the end was only speculation done by a random twitter user. its not confirmed
Bro came back from 2035😂
I agree with you when you say one piece is drawnout, but I would also like to remind you that one piece manga hasent finished yet and the anime needs to keep up with the manga but not catch up with it. So when the anime gets close to catch up with the manga they reduce the pacing of the anime instead of giving unnecessary fillers which might contradict the anime story in the future. Thats why one piece still has less fillers compare to naruto when one piece is twice the size of it.
