realest shi, before i started one piece i was like hell nah its too long and before i knew it i was caught up on the anime and manga and have to wait a week for every chapter/ episode
One thing to help with those slow moments. As someone who's read through the entire manga at least a dozen times. Every single small moment that seems unimportant, is set up for some major story detail much later.
Zoro's backstory is so simple yet beautiful. His friend died a meaningless death. Zoro uses that death to fuel his dream to be the greatest swordsman, thus giving her death meaning.
A cool thought I had is that if zoro becomes the strongest swordsman it would put more respect on kuina’s name because she would be known as the only person who could beat the greatest swordsman
Yes but Zoro has the opportunity to still beat Mihawk. She will forever remain undefeated. Therefore, she is the only person who has never lost to Zoro
@@therealogdaffy i dont think this is a spoiler. Its a running joke in the fandom that zoro is racist because most if not all of his opponents are poc

One piece is a really unique piece of media, you keep reading as you know its fun but it doesn't standout you cant place why its good but you are deeply invested more than you know. Then Water 7 happens then the show goes from a decent top 10 to your top 3 and from there one-piece keeps hitting the highs as every arc is better and better. Till Marine-fold where every single thing you heard turms out to be just as good as you hoped as every thread that was set comes into the light only for you to discover its barely surface level of what this world has to offer. People say the start is the hardest part of one piece, it is. The early chapters took alot of structure from the bad parts of DBZ, before Oda felt confident to try his own way in alabaster. The total chapter count is a lot and the first parts do tend to feel more like a disjointed adventure but that is by design. If you do start i highly recommend recording how you feel about each of the crew members after every arc so as you learn more and more about each one your respect only grows. Usopp in particular is a really strange one, as you either understand Odas vision for him or you miss it. Out of all the characters on the crew he is either the most hated or top 3 without exception due to some really relating and understanding while others only seeing him by comparing him to the big 3. You caught why Usopp is viewed this way as syrup village is one of the weakest arcs and the single weakest introduction of a crew member in one piece so right from word go no one has much love for him which makes it all the harder for him to be liked. Sanji is another one like this but is not as devisive as no matter your view you see the other side of things.
So happy you are enjoying it right now and if you do continue here is a heads up. Oda is really good at setting up details that don’t seem important but become huge later so keep that in mind. One piece is also comedy oda does a lot of things for the sake of humour, even one piece fans forget that.
The daffy character arc was crazy. Always bet on one piece 🗣🔥 But as for the speed, product of its time. I would say the later chapters have an alright pacing in most places. W vid tho
I found this off of my for you page but I like your style of video and your opinions, hope you keep reading one piece. You'll find slow moments, but they usually build up to something in the end.
TheOGDaffy ❌ TheOGLuffy ✅ (Unpopular opinion, I prefer Luffy vs Captain Krieg over Luffy vs Arlong, Arlong is a better villain but I found Krieg to be a more entertaining opponent due to his tactical ability)
Yeah, if it feels slow to him and didn't enjoy scenes like that it just feels like he's just reading to get caught up instead of enjoying the journey it. Cause that sword drop scene is one of the most iconic Zoro scenes and we literally get a Katana lore dump. Idk how long he's been an anime fan but from what I've seen he's just used JJK type fast paced action packed stuff. Which makes even more sense considering dudes other big manga that he does is Kagurabachi. Funny how one of the first things he mentions how old OP is and then complain about old school troupes like when he's still in the first 100 chapters which came out in the late 90's.
I’ve heard the length argument time and time again, but EVERY single person says once they catch up that there’s not enough! Absolutely worth watching/reading. I would also suggest if you’re only reading that you go watch the more impactful moments in the anime like new abilities or big baddies going down or emotional moments. The anime does them justice
Always exciting to see a new One Piece convert! Interesting take on the Lougetown sword buying scene. Might be the first time I’ve heard someone say something negative about that part of the arc. Perhaps it’s more of a mindset shift needed because personally I find those moments between the action some of the most precious and impactful scenes in the entire story. One Piece is truly a journey, so all those elements are essential to not only understanding the larger world but also feeling immersed in it. So don’t forget to slow down and be present in the story 😊
the funny thing is that the first 100 chapters are really just the prologue and the best stuff is yet to come. also luffy will probably grow on you because over the course of the series he keeps making decisions that set him apart from similar main characters like Goku. one piece is the king of slow burns so really what youve seen so far is set up for the rest of the series. if you liked what you saw so far i highly recommend doing the next 200 chapters as well because that gets you to one of the most peak parts of all of one piece that really shows you the true face of one piece
I got what you said about Luffy. I'm the type that dislike the dumb-kindhearted MC and will always go with the way cooler character as my favorite. Having said that, with One Piece, I can't do that to Luffy. He's different. I like Luffy from the get go and continue to love him until now as my super absolute favorite, and he's the only dumb-kindhearted MC that I cannot replace with any cool characters. Luffy is my king!
I think so many people get overwhelmed with One Piece because they feel rushed to catch up or focus too much on power scaling. For me, One Piece is really about the journey, character development, and relationships. It has a special kind of charm. At its core, One Piece is a story about found family. Gathering broken people and giving them the freedom to be themselves. Let it be fun and don't let others dictate how you enjoy it.
East Blue is to One Piece what a tutorial is to a video game: laying the groundwork for the stories that follow without outright info-dumping the crap out of you. Oda does a crazy job balancing the introduction of lore for the long term with the needs of the immediate story as the series tries to prove itself on a week-to-week basis. I can't say he did a great job for as far binge readers are concerned, but given the series success, he clearly was able to meet all expectations enough to not get his story canceled, which is what matters most. One Piece doesn't start to noticeably take off until well into the 200s. It tells some very good stories prior to that, but that is the point where where its primary shonen rivals (Bleach & Naruto) started to flounder after having strong starts, whereas One Piece started to really get into its own groove. Most manga tend to have very strong initial story arcs, which then tend to become worse as the story has new story arcs bolted onto it that weren't really prepared for and just results in random new threats appearing for no reason that are even stronger than the incredible crisis that the previous arc embodied... and that then tends to repeat itself. But for One Piece, it ends up being the early stories that feel awkward and 'villain of the week'-esque, but because of all the groundwork laid down as the story goes on, every new arc tends to be already integrated into everything that came before it in various ways. If you were to plot a trend line for how highly people rate arcs in One Piece, you'll find that it is climbing a lot throughout its lifetime. The highs get higher and the peaks get peakier: it just keeps on getting better. Obviously there are also some arcs that aren't quite as strong of a hit, but even the worst of later arcs tend to be solid stories that primarily look bad due to direct juxtaposition and personal preferences, but when compared to East Blue, they still blow most of that out of the water. I hope you stick with the story. Until you reach the 300s, you haven't got an inkling of what One Piece can truly offer in terms of storytelling, and it isn't until the 600s that you fully understand how hard the interconnectedness of this story can take things. And everything beyond that just gets darker and so much more complicated. One Piece in chapter 100, 300, 600 and eventually the 1000s are all very different experiences.
Bro fck I don't think Oda was worried about getting cancelled AFTER the 1st volume released cause it was big success and by OP's 2nd year of serialization it was already the highest selling manga in shounen jump.
Yeah, there are definitely many times where Luffy is out of commission for a bit, but the rest of the crew and other characters are able to do much more on their own as time goes on.
Most people I've seen who slander or hate one piece are people who never watched the show/read the manga. Never understood how can someone "hate" a show without even watching it lol
Ahh, the expected timeline of “I hate how one piece looks to hm this story is kinda nice and the art fits the themes as well” Ps; The Zoro scene is very monumental in the story and I’m surprised you got bored by it, maybe the anime makes it more engaging because that was my first experience with it.
The remainder of One Piece is building up to a dozen more "Help Me" moments You're going to watch more. You want to know how this goofy little pirate man becomes a king
YEAHHHHH BABYYY. You're in for a WILD ride man. And especially recently, the anime has started to BANG with the adaptations, so yea u should def watch that. Honestly I would recommend u read the whole thing and watch from wherever u want bcz the manga brings more to the plot, and the first couple seasons have 'ok at best' animation yk. (Don't hate just imo, ik how one piece fans be.)
Just a check, the fruits are not the power system of One Piece. They are an asset for sure, but more like shurikens in early to mid Naruto, or the guns in FMA (and FMAB).
the Choreography does indeed get better with time, in fact a whole lot gets better. but... there are things that dont change, like Luffy being delayed from doing his big fights, THAT is a habitual trend. BUT... it's not used in the sense that Toriyama used it, instead it's to give the other Straw Hats THEIR time to shine in THEIR fights, with Luffy's big fight being the main event. see, a big problem in Dragonball is that the other characters aside from Goku and Vegeta were absolute Jobbers, meanwhile the Straw Hats are not Jobbers, they simply cant put the kibosh on the big fight like Luffy can. though it CAN feel like the others are lagging behind too much, even though i didnt really feel that until Luffy starts fighting the biggest dogs in the world, which isnt like until almost 1000 chapters in. even in that case though, other Straw Hats still get to shine outside of battle utilizing their skills, yet being able to handle themselves in a tussle.
Just FYI 'Son' Goku and 'Monkey' D Luffy are both based off Sun Wukong aka The Monkey King from Journey To The West. So technically he's the reason why Goku and Luffy have that playful/humerous nature because that's how Wukong was.
Used to hate Usopp. Was annoyed pretty much every moment he was around. I also somewhat appreciated his moment in Arlong Park. But. Now. One of my favourite characters. What lovely development. By the time *that* happens, I was invested in him, and it made it all the more gripping
One piece really only gets started after the first 100 chapters n the story itself only really gets going after alabasta where we finally get a glimpse at the whole scope of the world
Yeah the remastered versions of the first few saga's, that where made for theaters are generally not too liked in the community. Like you said the speed up the fights, the Nami Help me moment was adapted better in the tv version. Updated animation is nice but East Blue parts of the early anime did alot of creative decisions to separate its self from the manga in ways anime only can and they are great and arnt captured in the remastered. But ofc its super slow in comparison.
Arlong Park is a good example of how great the comic can get. A-tier minimum. The East Blue saga is about the lowest it goes overall. You'll love the adventure if you continue!
that one scene with nami, which happens a millions of times with luffy. is what differienciates him with other shounen typical MCs. he isnt as dumb as people think, he is emotionally smart asf, and will sacrifice himself making him a leader.
Just started reading One Piece? Take my advice. Not only is it okay to cry. Cry early. Cry often. Cry big salty tears. *It is how the story is supposed to make you feel.*
Ladies and gentlemen, we got em. And just a heads up: Toei makes a lot of things worse in the anime. For example, Sanji’s pervyness. It can get annoying in the manga, but Toei blows it up. Like the dog moment you saw. And in general you’ll see it more in later arcs, TOEI IS ASS WITH PACING. And for future arcs with paneling: it’s mainly an arc called Wano. Both arcs that have happened afterward have had far better paneling overall And slight recommendation if you choose to keep reading: go by sagas. You finished the east blue saga, up next is alabasta.
You hate the sword buying episode?? I actually like that one 😭I guess it is boring if you're just trying to get to the plot. I thought it was cool though. The idea that there are cursed swords with minds of their own. Just expands the world more for me.
Sometimes it’s just the smaller more causal moments I like. Like moments of the crew hanging around on the merry having fun. It doesn’t always have to be about the plot.
Usopp will grow on you. He isn't a strong brave warrior but he still fights even though he is gripped with fear he isn't a coward. His fight to overcome his fearful and weak self leads people to like him more and more. Also you can't complain about word vomit in One Piece when you glaze JK and Kagurabachi.

that one scene with nami, which happens a millions of times with luffy. is what differienciates him with other shounen typical MCs. he isnt as dumb as people think, he is emotionally smart asf, and will sacrifice himself making him a leader.
The thing with one piece is the further u get into the story the better it gets at least for me
I said it once and i will say it again "you eather die a one piece hater or you live long enough to become a one piece fan"
Just started reading One Piece?
Take my advice.
Not only is it okay to cry.
Cry early. Cry often. Cry big salty tears.
*It is how the story is supposed to make you feel.*
I wouldn't call it the greatest thing ever, but it's still damn good, considering its over 1000 chapters.
And still has such a large community engaged with it for over 1100+ chapters.
Best news I done ever received
i need this dude to get to water 7 and enies lobby bc they solve like 80% of his complaints 😭
Welcome to the "Zorro the G.O.A.T" fanclub
🐐
"I'm not saying that I need action every single chapter" .. I don't believe you
???
@@therealogdaffy Your attention span is cooked G. It's not ur fault tho, jjk microwaves the mind
Luffy grows on you. You slowly begin to love him as he grows
Bros finally reading peak and not hating
Take ur time !!!!
The whole One Piece is so short…
Waiting for another chapter to drop is a struggle so you end up re-reading. Same for the anime.
Both arcs that have happened afterward have had far better paneling overall
And slight recommendation if you choose to keep reading: go by sagas. You finished the east blue saga, up next is alabasta.
That sword arc comes into play in Wano...
Haki was always planned! This is a fact.
Welcome aboard, I'll see you at the land of wano 😁
It was nice knowing you bro😢
Part of the ship, part of the crew 🍻
See you in another 100/200 chapters!
The "slow" episodes provide the most lore bro. Be attentive. Like the scene zoro buying swords
The bombofuck killed me 😂
Usopp will grow on you. He isn't a strong brave warrior but he still fights even though he is gripped with fear he isn't a coward. His fight to overcome his fearful and weak self leads people to like him more and more.
Also you can't complain about word vomit in One Piece when you glaze JK and Kagurabachi.
