    It’s simply fabulous. I’m familiar with their ingenious design. Such a clever, unique, elegant way to make and design a mechanical perpetual calendar. And such a beautiful watch to boot. Not just the incredible dial but the tantalum case which is finished so exquisitely. The movement is not necessarily Lange finishing but all their efforts have gone onto the bit we look at and wow what a result.

    Teddy, I love your videos, and this is no exception. You are spot on noting this is a very expensive timepiece, but I think one of the things consistently missing in your assessment of various watches is the cost of maintaining those various watches. You have noted in your videos that every watch requires periodic maintenance, but I think it would be helpful if you add a mainentance assessment of a watch as you do a review. Since not everyone lives in an area where a certified watch maker is available for every brand, you may want to do a video on how to have your watch serviced if you do not live within an area that has technicians for your particular watch brand. I actually had this problem with a Tag Heuer, when my only issue was a bad pin on my bracelet.

    The issue I have with perpetual calendars is that unless you keep them in a watch winder you'll essentially have to go through a much more complicated setup each time they run out of power. Granted, this one at least have some convenience features so kudos for that, but it would still take more time to set it up than adjusting just the date every second month (which you would anyway as you'd have to adjust the time at least as frequently) on a non-perpetual date watch.

    • @MegaThucydides

  • @theejpp
    @theejpp Год назад +2

    That’s a stunning watch, and I appreciate the ingenuity behind its design and layout quite a bit. That said, the price is outrageous. You’re getting a stripped-down perpetual (in the sense that it doesn’t give you day or year indication) and a non-precious metal case for nearly double what you can pay JLC for their rose perpetual ultra thin. You can pay about $10k less and get a perpetual from Breguet, or you can pay about $15k more for a Patek perpetual.
    Even if you can justify the price from a craftsmanship and exclusivity standpoint, it’s a hard sell by being placed there. You can get that complication for much less from other very well-respected brands, or pay a small fraction more and get a watch with more impressive finishing and more caché.

    Clever complication and innovative way to display the month. However, at this price point, I'd prefer the month hand to be more obvious so it is less likely to be hidden behind the other hands. And the background colour (black) to the date window jars with the dial. Again, at this price point, it should have been a colour matching or complimentary to the dial with an appropriate contrasting (but matching/complimenting) colour for the date font. Thanks for explaining what's going on. The idea of hiding the leap year indicator is sensible since it doesn't matter most of the time whether you know it's a leap year as long as you know the date will change correctly. This makes a change from the more conventional perpetual calendars - save the Lange 1 tourbillon perpetual which is also easier to read and arguably prettier (albeit orders of magnitude more expensive).
