Well, nobody forces you to sing live for 2 hours ever night. Do one concert, rest a couple of days and then do another one live. And sometimes you will be forced to cancel because of voice issues. But that way you are not going to make as much money as lipsyncing through at least 50% of your career. I think all lipsyncers (Celine Dion included) should inform their fans that are going to lipsync at least in part during their "live" performance. Otherwise it's called consumer fraud.

But sometimes, sh*t happens like they get the flu or maybe a little fever or they just don't feel well. It happens all the time especially when they are touring as you need to adjust to different temperatures or timezones and the last thing they want is to cancel a show. It is easy for some arrogant singers to cancel but it's not easy for fans who have traveled and spent so much for the hotel and food only to be dissapointed. I would rather she lipsynch a few lines than not see her at all after traveling and spending so much money.

You have to be trained vocally and not every performance is going to be pitch perfect. But I agree with Celine. Still the best performer ever. Why can't every famous celebrity out there be like Celine Dion. Celine didn’t say she lip sync that night. She’s just pissed at the reporter for asking the question. All artist lip sync at least once in awhile. I don't go to my idols' concerts with intent on critiquing their voice. As a singer, I don't label artists based on whether or not they can always sing their hardest songs. All artists' voices are definitely not created equal. Selena Gomez being able to sing her hardest song at age 65 isn't the same as expecting some like Celine to be able to sing her hardest song at age 65.. People must understand that singing in concert or live shows is no only an entertainment, it is also a industry and business, so they need to protect their voices,
Why do people get so upset about this? If you know it's a pro performer who gives a great show, has proven they have a great voice, what's the big deal if they spare their throat by lip synching once in a while or partially for a show? A voice is a very fragile instrument. Greedy record companies can have their talent on heavy performance /touring schedules. It's all abt the money for them. An artist should b able to protect their voice from being blown out by overuse.

Celine didn’t say she lip sync that night. She’s just pissed at the reporter for asking the question. All artist lip sync at least once in awhile. Try just talking when you have a cold never mind sing. No one can sing live like Celine anyway after 40 years of singing she can say it like it is. Yeah, and that's good, but me for example, I'd pay much more money for a performer than a singer. She didn't change, she's always been sassy. She was sassy back in 08 when on Ellen she says Joe broke up with her on the phone. She was sassy when she hosted SNL, she's sassy in a lot of her songs, and she's just a sassy person. Maybe she was holding back her sassiness more so before, but now she doesn't care. That aside, I don't think she was trying to be sassy when he asked. She was being defensive, she worked really hard on her performance and she didn't want anyone to think less of that.

I actually hate all of the background shit and dancers. thats why I love Michael Jacksons performances because they're simple, there's not all these lights flashing and smoke, its just him MOSTLY doing his own dancing and singing. even if he lip syncs you still see him dancing his ASS OFF. Celine doesn't dance either. she is just gonna stand still lip synch and not dance or anything else. SCAM. I want to see the artist I paid for rather than these dancers trying to get our attention.

Dan Jun The downside of this is that her critics try and say she can't sing if she is slightly flat during a small part of performances when she is sick. I'll be watching a video of a performance she did when sick and see comments trying to say that a certain time stamp is proof that she can't sing (which is ridiculous) and sit there like "But in this one she had a cold!" or "This one she literally had laryngitis".

Well her career is over 20 years long, she has a show in las vegas, and she is not as young. If she lip syncs once in a while it is to protect her voice, but she does sing life the majority of the time, even when she is sick she will push herself. A voice can only take so much even with great technique. Stamina is not eternal and the voice has to rest eventually.

Beyonce, Mariah and Whitney, lipsync/ed high notes on their shows, because their repertoire requires more then a mediorce nasal voice & they do/did it from time to time on some notes, but Celine lipsyncing more then Britney. Celine couldn´t even sing at her best times such a mediocre song as "Power of Nasal" and if you search for singing it live, 99 % lipsync like "All by my Nose" and the other songs. Always lipsync, if she would be at least an half good singer as Mariah and Whitney, so fail.

Taylor. Hunny. You didn't lip sync because your songs are vocally generic and cover all of maybe 1 to 1.5 octaves. People don't look at you as a "singer." Yeah, you can hold a tune. But calling you a singer is overkill. Real singers evoke emotion within their audiences, give them goosebumps, etc. Your voice is just an array of sound waves reverberating in our ears.

Dan Jun There's nothing wrong with lip-syncing when you genuinely love an artist for who they are, what they've accomplished throughout their career, and how they've comforted you through their music. I don't go to my idols' concerts with intent on critiquing their voice. I go because I want to be in their presence, watch them interact with their fans, and enjoy the fact that they're even bothering to allow us to see them live. As a singer, I don't label artists based on whether or not they can always sing their hardest songs. All artists' voices are definitely not created equal. Selena Gomez being able to sing her hardest song at age 65 isn't the same as expecting some like Celine to be able to sing her hardest song at age 65.. I respect your opinion though because I don't expect everyone to think like me lol and I'm not knocking those who don't. Just answering the question you asked me above.
