He's an extremely versatile artist, who has many albums, many collaborations, many film roles, and many songs that aren't "dark" His writing is creative, and takes the listener in all sorts of directions. Did U know that much of his material is co-written with his wife? Whilst I would agree that he has a niche for telling morbid tales at times, Tom Waits has released over 40 albums, and I can assure you that it isn't all dark. Far from it....
