It's amazing how EVERY FUCKING SONG he performed on that theatre is even better than the original one. I wish he had done "Another Kind Of Green". Today we'd have a killer version of it to play on repeat over and over again.
Valentin Bidart I’m a huge John fan but I think this DVD is edited cause John vocally is this good but I doubt he can sing better all the songs live, he usually goes up and down at the same concert. Sorry for my shitty english
Luis Suárez He goes up and down nowadays because he had surgery on his vocal cords a few years ago. However, I do think the vocals are edited a little, but that happens to nearly every dvd recording.
I was a huge John Mayer fan back in the days. Now I appreciate his music (while I hate some of his work), but this concert is just perfect. One of the greatest live recordings of all time. It's flawless.
That's true, but it was also all processed in studio before the release - there's autotuning and note correction. It's still an amazing performance, but it sounds a little more superhumanly accurate than it actually was if you listen to bootlegs of the same night.
for people who are very confused about this video: The song "No Such Thing"and "Bigger Than My Body"were played on this concert, but they only apear on the Blue Ray DVD
Why dont people listen his songs nowadays? To be honest he's better than all popstar Of these days and super talented. I'm 14 and this man blows my mind but not others. Why? Well in his era and in this era he will remain classic.
He has nearly 15million monthly streams on Spotify. His last album averages 100million streams per song. What are you talking about? He is very popular. Way above average.
JJ Johnson messes up at 3:15 and goes out of time, disguised well by world-class musicians who allowed for his mistake, you'll allso hear John rush a couple of words because of this.
No the song tempo starts speeding up at 3:04, all of them are progressively going faster, nothing is out of sync, looks a stylistic climax done many a times. It actually starts at 3:14. The drum lead in at 3:14 leads to the transition at 3:18. The bass follows too. They all do actually start at 3:14. No mistake.
Even if the song was played perfectly, I reckon No Such Thing still doesn't make it into the album. Apart from the acoustic set, Where The Light Is on the whole is very blues-focused. A lot of the songs from his first two albums weren't even performed here. The more rock and pop-type songs are omitted in favour of the more bluesy sound. No Such Thing and Bigger Than My Body, while played in this concert, probably were removed because they didn't match the feel the live album was going for. This is all just speculation from me, I've got no evidence to back this up, but it feels like this is the reason.

This did not make it in the final album release because Mayer messed up in a moment singing the wrong lyrics but, appart from this human error, this live version is fantastic
He said something that sound like "i never lived the CREAM prom kings". Even though they tried to fix it, i think that mayer thought that it wasn't good enough. Sorry about english errors, i'm not american lol
I think there was a slightly messed up-tempo starting from 3:15 - 3:23. That's probably the reason this fantastic version was not included in the release.
@thebrown36 DaLa is infact in the band on the dvd also. The dvd contains an acoustic part, Trio part with steve on the drums, for the last perfomance the whole band is on stage and steve and pino jumps in, in the end =)
There is 3 parts too this concert John Mayer - Acoustic (Solo) John Mayer Trio - John, Pino (bass) & Steve (drums) John Mayer - John, David LaBruyere (bass), David Ryan Harris ( Rhythm Guitar) Robbie McIntosh (Guitar), J.J Johnson (Drums) etc. en(.)wikipedia(.)org/ wiki/ Where_the_Light_Is#Personnel There is the band's listings for more info :D
I think one of the other reasons why this isn't on the album is cause at the end, they started to speed up a lot. You can try to keep track of the tempo but it does speed up a bit as the song progresses (especially after the bridge) (3:04)
That bass line is what keeps me here and the lyrics and the guitar. Everything actually.
totally!
i love the piano
@Rigor Mortis David LaBruyere's tone is massive and extremely elegant...
Excelente!

@@lancebangle its heavily autotuned.

Pretty much every single song in that set is better than the studio version. Not many artists can claim that, such a great live performance.

@@lapelcelery42Do you know where I can find the original tracks from the concert?

This song came out when I was in high school, and ultimately I can only appreciate it 20 years later.

MONSTER BASSIST. Underrated
that bass line tho
he is one of the rare people who sound better live than on cd
Room for squares was his first album but it is ageless. I listen to these songs everyday and never get tired

I've never known an artist like Mayer. All his songs are good. There's no bad Mayer song.
Honestly.
This drummer... omg, what a passion!
This song is so good. Perfect for travel days
John had always been the type to sound good in recording, and extremely fricking good live. Wish I could ever go to one of his concerts.
So many and really exotic chords and notes, amazing song !!
In love with the bass sound 👌

Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve
They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side
I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above
So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits and
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies
They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side
I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above
I am invincible
I am invincible
I am invincible
As long as I'm alive
I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above
I just can't wait til my ten year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for
