I think the Commander Class is probably one of the better things to come out of the WFC Trilogy, along with the Core class. Commander class stuff is a neat way to get stuff we wouldn't typically get- such as a huge jetfire, a skylynx that has separate beast modes, and rodimus- without it being masterpiece-level expensive.
@@thefirstguyjaek255 They're small, affordable, and are typically robust and simple enough to be something you can fiddle with; for people with space or economy restrictions, that's good enough. Not every toy is going to be for everyone, tbh.
Fun facts: The flame effects are clear blue plastic painted black. His face reuses the same model from POTP Rodimus (not the helmet or the casting, just the face design).
8:45 fun fact Balt, those are actually cast in trans-blue then painted black. You can remove them but I’m not sure on what to use. Perspective End did it but again I forgot what he used to remove the black paint.
I used 70% rubbing alcohol to strip off the black paint. Filled up a bowl and just let them soak then every so often went back to them and rubbed off the paint.
The way you showed the transformation is definitely interesting, it reminds me of those ASMR gundam builds. I like the style but also like when you give commentary for the transformation.
I wholeheartedly agree - best official Rodimus we've ever seen, by far. And the DX9 is still the tops overall, by a smidge. It's about time Roddy got some love.
This figure is definitely leaps and bounds better than Power of the Primes Rodimus and i am really glad they gave up the evolution gimmick. it kinda worked for Orion Pax into Optimus but did not work for Hot Rod into Rodimus. now what they need to do is black repaints of him and Hot Rod for the Rodimus Unicronus character from Power of the Primes. Makes you wonder what they will do for Rodimus Prime in the Studio Series 86 line. Great Review.

Despite a few flaws here, and there, he truly does look incredible especially when he's next to the recent Hot Rod figure! (Although, I will say that I absolutely hate how only his index can pose individually with his thumb, while his other fingers are all attached. I don't get why they can't have all the fingers move. Either have all of them articulate, or be 1 articulated piece.) Perfect way to end 2021 in my opinion! ;) Happy New Year! See you in 2022!
This guy was my most anticipated release of 2021 I'm so happy they made a Rodimus Prime who is allowed to just be Rodimus and they did not feel the need to incorporate a Hot Rod into him I love him more then the studio series Hot Rod and at first I was skeptical of him just being a upscale of the deluxe but he's vastly different
i got mine a few weeks ago, it is all i ever wanted in a Rodimus Prime. i think my biggest nitpick is the one most mention, the car sticks out too much from the trailer in alt mode, but I dont display my TFs in alt mode so its not an issue.
Good review, I actually appreciate no talking during transformation. I find that sometimes people mess up saying angles and degrees, and we don't need to hear "rotate to the right" when we can see it. Just can't get over that face...
I didn't really notice but some people pointed out that the transformation somehow includes the trailer but after watching most of the 3rd season, the transformation is inconsistent where at times the trailer is part of the transformation and other times it comes up behind him like optimus so it is actually accurate enough.
Nah Balt has a history of mis-tranforming and ham handing stuff then blaming it on the figure. I unsubbed to him a long time ago and for some reason this review popped up on my feed so I wanted to see the mess he made and was not disappointed.
I have all 3 Commanders so far, and I think this guy’s the best. I don’t even have any attachment to Rodimus Prime (Jetfire is my favorite character), but this figure made me!
Am I the only one who know that in order for the trailer to not be split, the main canon must be folded the right way, then being pegged in the right 5mm port along a CLIP in the end?
He's great, though I'm probably never transforming him again. The transparant spoiler, the tabs on the back, the two stress marks where the red bit his spoiler is attached to spins around. It's a bit worrying. I was also a bit worried about keeping the smoke effect and matrix effect in the tray, given the whole soft plastic melting and attaching to hard plastic thing, but those effect seem to be made of a harder plastic so it should be fine.
So your finally did a Rodimus Prime review. Mine arrived yesterday, its ok and I had to paint the wheels. It looks better. I have a similar problem with the panel in one of his legs doesn't peg well. One of the panels, the right one that folds in under Rodimus chest comes off too easy. A bit pricy but worth getting. Have a happy new year .
I do think it is good but I am a scale guy so it just annoys me with him not being the same height as Galvatron like in the cartoon. Aswell happy new year everyone.

Rodimus never used the battle platform in the cartoon. They shoved his trailer off camera with no use even more than Optimus'. And Optimus only used it like maybe twice as a platform and a few times called Roller out of it.
Here's a crazy comparison for the folks who ain't car fans: the regular versions of Transformers Cybertron's Scattorshot, Red Alert, & Hotshot vs. the bigger, beefier Cybertron Defense Team versions of Scattorshot, Red Alert, & Hotshot. The storage tray on the bottom of the trailer and the way the cannon works (it's literally now a drone of its own with the faux treads, being removable from the trailer, and able to attach to Rodimus's back)? Yeah, somebody at Hasbro may have copied some design notes from Takara's MP44 Convoy/Optimus Prime 3.0 there.
The main Rodimus figure is really good the spoiler being transparent plastic is worrying and the leg panels on mine are a bit floppy but it’s still a good figure, the backpack in general is a big annoyance especially due to its transparent plastic so it might not hold up over time The trailer is okay it seems on most copies the top won’t tab together and on a commander price figure not a good look, the turret is nice but would’ve been cool if the guns could pop off and act as large guns cause his normal gun is kinda crappy. The extra accessories are nice kinda wish there was more colour diversity with the blast effects to give some extra piazza if you use them, and the smoke effects in product photos were white/grey which might of looked better than the glossy black. Rodimus is a good figure but out of the 3 commanders for me he’s dead last Jetfire and skylinx had more going for them if you can find Rodimus on a holiday sale or a bit lower than retail cost yea pick him up
For the longest time earthrise optimus was the figure I’d consistently have out and be messing around with. That was until I got Rodimus, as soon as I got him he’s been my go too. I’ll still fiddle around with optimus here and there but Rodimus is definitely my go to now. That might change when I get my hands on legacy optimus prime tho
I had same issues when I reviewed him tabs are terrible I can't transform mine again as peg stuck in backpack so dare not try moving it as it most likely will break, good representation of him though, awesome review as always brother
IMO, the SUV Rodimus is smaller in comparison to the scale of the trailer. Maybe raise the wheels of the trailer and increase the scale of the SUV Rodimus by 10% then it would be the same size as Galvatron. It's likely Galvatron is 10% bigger compared to other Leader class bots.
Hey folks so this has nothing to do with this video, but I need some help. The other day I got a deluxe class Transformers Animated Soundwave. After opening it and then displaying it for a few days, I went back and saw that suddenly the green paint around the "power button" symbol on his back was seeming cracked in several places, it looked like several small scratches. I think it was because the air exposure after being in package for so long. Any tips or suggestions on what to do about this problem? Is there a way to fix it? Do I just leave it? Should I try to paint over it? Help?
Very nice! As you say, since the MP line is all about repeating the same figures over and over again. Hopefully Rodimus Prime 2.0 will be Hot Rod gimmick-free and just himself. Maybe they could even base him on that one show model. Wherein his trailer folded down into his legs…
I love mine only issue is one a the clips in its wheel opens and collapsing in to the arm nice that he got a great trailer after Optimus junk one and if you read this baltmatrix you not putting the gun in right did it backward and it clips in to trust me it help but lots of people have issue with it fully closing
The ends of the front bumper that folds into the chest keeps falling off their hinges on mine, but it doesn’t matter for me since I’m keeping it in bot mode.
Why would they make the fundamentally stupid decision to make the spoiler from clear plastic given the reputation it has? The spoiler section isn't even part of a fake canopy or whatever, cannot see any reason to make that choice.
ah okay so im not the only one who has issues with my trailer closing. the only other grip i have with my model is the one hood piece you flap down in robot mode always seems to come off and i always have to pop back in thats why im always afraid to transform him in robot mode and just display him in alt mode
nope the trailor just doesnt close for most people ive even tried taking it apart and positioning cannon diff ways, and thats the one complaint that seems universal
I haven't had any issues with my rodimus, maybe its your copy?? Dunno. The only issue I've had is the trailer having a slight gap but that doesn't bother me too much to be honest.
my problems with him are the wheels on the feet are a pain in the ass to get out and to slide down the wings being made of clear plastic (meaning over time they may break more easily) and the trailer just being boring he doesn't feel like he's worth the same price as jetfire or skylynx especially since they are gigantic figures that fell like they are worth au$180 but rodimus just feels like a rip off and as you showed he's smaller then galvatron so like what makes him worth more then say ultra magnus? ultra magnus technically has 8 accessories if you include his armor pieces

I used some nail polish remover to remove the black paint from the flame.

you don't have 86 Hot Rod transform right in car mode he has 2 small piece's that fold out from under the hood.

I also put the turent into storage and keep hot rod in the trailer
Collapse the side guards in the downward direction, that fixed my problem with fixing the gap on the top.

Toyhax might have sets for him, otherwise repaint it and apply clearcoat.

I reinforced the tabs with some superglue and they now close together right.

Anything orange on him are also painted over, which includes his chest and thighs. So be careful not to scuff them.
