Fantastic video, great knowledge but I have to disagree with you on gaming with the Grados. I have the Grado SR80x (bigger brother of the SR60x) and I use it for everything, including gaming (mostly Overwatch and F1) and trust me, the open back design makes hearing enemy footsteps so much easier and in turn, makes me more aware of where they are. Would 100% recommend the Grados to anyone, maybe not as a first pair of headphones but as a second or third pair if you're looking for something niche and unique (as said in the video) :)
Woaw. The Meze 99 cost 300 and sound like 150 headphones. My biggest disappointment last year. Just try the Fiio FT1. They cost 150 and sound like 300 headphones (at least).
If everyone would enjoy the exact same headphones, it would get kinda boring fast! I was and still am really impressed with the meze's. Haven't heard anything about those Fiio FT1's, but I'll check them out to see what they have to offer :)
I had the meze 99s as well and returned them for the fiio ft1 and I don't regret it. As much as I loved the build and look of the mezes I just didn't love the sound. The fiio ft1 I'm definitely keeping
The SR60X/Meze 99 combo is an absolute banger to get started with higher quality audio. The profiles are so different and it really lets you get a sense of what you'd probably like when you're ready to splurge (but let's be real, you're probably going for the more expensive Meze's lol). I'm rocking the Neos and they'd be a daily driver if I didn't have the 60x's tethered to my work station.
@Technificantly I have my eyes on the 109s in particular because I'm really curious on how Meze approaches open back design. I'd say those and the 325x's are next in line for me whenever I go for an upgrade
@@mariovelasquez1243 the 109 is where meze headphones actually begin to get "good", there are still much better options for the eye watering price of them though.
Bro thanks for the reply but does the sennheiser momentum 4’ s bass bleed into the mids or highs and make it little distorted or muddy or something like that as i am a airpods pro fan and user but i dont want to spend 550 dollars on a single pair of airpods max and will the sennheiser sound satisfy me or any bluetooth headphone that u know that is top notch sound quality within 300to 400$ budget btw love from India
In my opinion it doesn't. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to airpods max and sound quality is more important than noise cancelling, momentum 4's would be a great option.
Well done! Those headphones are really fun to have; just plug, play, and enjoy. The good thing about having a good headphone is they're last for a long time, I have Audio-Technica ATH MSR7se for 6 years, and it's still strong to this day. I hope you try IEM as well, they're amazing for it's price.
Yeah I'm preparing for a video on IEM's! Testing out some models at the moment. And yeah, everyone needs a good pair of cabled headphones in their lives!
Had a pair of SR60i for a long time and needless to say I won't be back to Grado anytime soon..not because of the sound or fit... it's because I hate that cable with a passion and the fact the cups rotate freely made me lose my mind sometimes...
I really enjoyed this video, mythical pull from youtube reccommended. Easy subscribe! I have a pair of Sennheiser HD65X and a pair of Grado SR60s and the Grados are so much more fun for listening to hiphop and bassy music while i'm longboarding. Cheap grados are the hot hatch boy racers of the audio world imo.
Thank you! That means a lot to me :) 'Hot hatch boy racers' actually describes them perfectly haha. I really want to try a pair of those Sennheisers, only heard good things about them.
I have tried out the airpods max, and they do sound amazing, noise cancelling is amazing too. They are just too heavy and no headphone jack... For me personally that's a deal breaker
The grados were my first serious headphones. They were great for a while. BUT: Eventually the left driver gave up and the highs at all over the place, with really bad dips and peaks.
@Technificantly have you considered pairing the m4s with a Bluetooth doggle. I own the one form sennheiser, makes sound pop and feel fuller on my pc but lost the connection usb to c adapter it came ith so can't try it on my phone lol. Been curious about even trying a mini dap like the ifi go link? Maybe pointless to push a Bluetooth device but who knows.
I dare anyone to look at the soundcore space one frequency response graph (how loud each frequency is) and think it's good sound quality. The bass is 15 db higher than neutral, the lower mids are 10 db lower than neutral, there are multiple peaks at 1.6k, 4k and 10k (perfect for a sharp and sibilant listening experience), the only good things about this headphone is the anc, the build and comfort. Grado sr60x, are not a good headphone for the price, the build is garbage (like a 1950s headphone), and the sound is ok, up to 2k, where you have a 10db peak. Then the treble is an absolute mess... it's only really good for things like movies asmr (incredible sense of closeness and detail due to the 2k peak and treble sparkle). The momentum 4 are ok I guess (could have better clarity, become decent with eq). And the 99 classics have incredible comfort and design, but their overall sound is just too warm and bloated... I would like to say that I have tried all these headphones (and personaly own the sr60 and momentum 4), and that none of them are a good recomendation. I'm not saying that this video is bad, but it would be better to do more research before giving recomendation to people who have no idea about sound. there are a lot of better options, like the fiio ft1 or akg k361 instead of the meze 99 classics... Finally, there is of course personal preference, although, there are still preference bounds, and targets that can be achieved, like the harman target, diffuse field jm1 (for iems)... And at the end of the day, I don't think anyone can say they prefer a space one instead of a susvara. This isn't against you by itself, as you probably bought the space ones because of a tech youtuber (probably sponsored by soundcore), the meze 99 and the grados because of dankpods. You should just make your own reasearch, and listen to a lot more headphones before recommending whatever you have to people on the internet. I'm taking this way to seriously, I had a bad day. At the end of the day, you enjoy what you enjoy untill you know better, and then decide to spend your life savings on it.
I have to disagree with you on this. The point is, not everyone is a sound engineer or has to dive into all the details about audio. This was a video aimed to help the average consumer make a good choice. Audio is subjective, so it's hard to say that people will 100% pick one headphone over another. For example I love how warm the meze's are, it's what makes them what they are. And for your average consumer, they sound great in my opinion. Next to that, it's impossible to try out every single headphone. I mentioned that in the video too. There will always be other brands or models that might still be better. I can only talk about the ones I have tried. I have 100 subs, a 9-5 job and live paycheck to paycheck, I don't have the freedom to try out 100 headphones before I make a video like this. I'm also against just blindly following reviews or things I see online. The space ones showed up at the place I worked before I even knew they existed. I bought them just out of curiosity. Next to that I feel like that's the fun with this. Having someone like dankpods share a headphone he likes so you get to know them too. I don't see that as a negative, but as a positive. How great is it that you can share a passion with a whole community? Obviously criticism or feedback are always welcome, but we're not all audiophile heads. You can be a casual enjoyer too!
@Technificantly I've been enjoying the Sundara closed backs. They've been my first planar experience, and with EQ, they sound fantastic. I'm planning on grabbing the Fiio FT1 soon :)
I see! I've never had the chance to try out planar headphones. I was looking to get the Fiio FT5's but I'm currently not in a position to be able to get those. But, the closed back Sundara's are noted. Thanks for sharing your opinion and being so cool about it!
Please be careful with videos like this. you are recommending not great headphones, that are poorly built. And are expensive for the money. There are much better options to everything you have mentioned. SR60Xs are an absolute mess of a headphone. The Meze 99 Classics/Neo are mid at best, absolute bass monsters (I actually own a pair). Better alternatives would be something like a pair of Koss' for the grados, they are cheap and sound better in my opinion. And for the Mezes, it would be something like the Fiio FT1.
Well it's personal taste right? I think the headphones I talked about are fun and enjoyable headphones. Of course there will always be 'better' options, but I am unable to test out all of the different brands and models out there. It's my recommendation and some people will love it, some will hate it. I'm very open to try other options too and this list will probably change throughout the years. But for now this is what I am enjoying! Edit: it also depends on what you are looking for in a headphone.
It's like I said in the video, from what I have tested and owned, that's my list. Obviously there are a ton of headphones out there that I haven't heard or tested before. Edit: You can always leave me a suggestion and I'd love to check them out!
Have to take personal preference into consideration too. I'd take most senheisers over beyers or audio technica any day... But those who like a bit more bass and treble will probably prefer those over the senheisers.
Beyerdynamic make objectively bad headphones. And most of audiotechnicas line-up is mid at best. Something like the Hifiman Sundara blows the DT990s out of the water. Please don't get roped into thinking Beyerdynamic headphones sound good.
Love the meze 99 classics they’re the headphones I use when I’m moving around. When I’m sitting at my desk I prefer the athm50x.
Grados were my gateway to audio. They're definitely something you need to experience to understand.
They are! I can't wait to try out different ones from them when I have the chance to.
keep going I like your content!
Thank you! That means a lot :)
great video, officially earned sub no 100! keep it going, see you at 10k followers.

Interesting, I do feel like the Grados are quite fragile. What model did you have?
@Technificantly Sr 225.
Common problem with grados is that they are built awfully, you know its bad when aliexpress knockoffs are built better.
nice review
The controls on the momentum 4 are my favorite. The auto off feature is annoying.
It is! Feature is working against us instead of making the headphones easier to use smh
