They need to massively overhaul the combat because they have no risk/reward or resource management systems. Miles Morales has a bit of an attempt, but its so easy to trivialize combat through all the gadgets and their recharge timers. Arkham combat is so addicting because of the interesting enemy variety, layouts and waves, and the way they could counter Batman, but gadget combos, timing, and combo chains lead to a super dynamic system. In spider-man you can easily upgrade yourself to the max very early in the game, and get to the point where combat is a massive tedium and just run through the game on autopilot.
Focus system is the recourse management. Also the gadgets. The choice between healing or finisher is there. It's not much, but it's something.

I agree the combat is wayyy too forgiving. You can literally abuse the gadgets. Then we have the fully upgraded focus bar what allows you perform 6 finishers in a row.
Best we can do is wait tbh, they confirmed the demo was on an old build, could be missing a variety of animations and mechanics on purpose. I hope at least 😂
I like boss fights that make me want to pull my teeth out. Difficult surely doesn't make it a good fight alone, but it makes beating the boss feel that much more rewarding and believable. I've never played the Spiderman games though, so om just speaking in general. Could you imagine Thanos being an endgame boss or something and him just being defeated by wet napkins or him just being a gimmick boss 😂
hoping the web swinging is gonna be more that just "marvel spiderman web swinging" but faster. judging by the trailer. its not looking good.
What more could they do? Lol

Spider-Man 2 (ps2) had the similar combat. This isn’t "arkham" combat because Spider-Man 2 (ps2) predates the arkham games.
