I think it's fine. No apology needed!!
Enjoy ALL of your videos Josh ! Thank You !
Time lapse was neat to see, it is easy to forget all the other work that goes into swapping an engine than just the engine. Stay safe and healthy Josh.
Never have I ever worked in a shop with an overhead crane. We always forklift it in and out.
Our forklift was an old Clark with dual wheels, a barely running Chevy 250 with a powerglide stuffed in in and no brakes whatsoever. I always loved it. Come forward a quarter of an inch. lol
Easiest way to engine swap on anything with a derrick, raise the derrick, then pull it.. obviously cant do this inside lol.. but having worked in the oilfield for a dozen years now, any major repair, we always try and rig the rig up if at all possible
Great video and great job!
I been there done that before out in field with Snow & Wind blowing like -10. A Rod through the block.
insane to remove the cab to rebuild a Ford engine. Terrible
So interesting Josh. Great team work. Nice to have a different style video. Most of the time in our shop a forklift or TH gets used for engjne pulls. Cheers josh. 💪🍻👍🥂
Thank you Jeri.
@@AdeptApeHey, I have a C7 acert 2006 in a freightliner. It runs fine when cold but after heats up, will start white smoking crazy and shut down. When you try to start back, smokes up the whole shop and if it does start will smoke and miss fire. If we leave it for a day come back next morning when engine is cold, it starts and runs perfectly.
Checked all injectors all good, turbo had oil in it, we removed both turbo and exhaust manifold, manifold had oil in it. Ran engine without turbo and manifold same thing when gets hot.
We tested the HEUI pump by stepping up and down the demand with the computer but everything seems ok. Also has no blow by
Not sure what the problem is any ideas
And here I am working on 6.7s for a living and say “I’m glad I don’t work on big equipment. Looks like a nightmare” 😂
Next time you mess with a Derrick like that just run the lever as you pick up and set down so you don't have to pull pins. It will just move fluid around.
Just back it outside raise the mast up & pull the engine out just that simple working outside
is not all that bad.
We have to do this regularly on fire trucks since they are cab over as well.
Nice video
Not sure if you were trying to keep the company name private, but you would also need to censor the DOT number to do that.
If I had to choose which tool I own is my favorite or most useful I would probably say my forklift. My welder is 2nd
Curious if that Acert c15 rebuild is in that W900 log truck in the background. Across the board forestry is rough on machines.
Too bad your shop doesn’t have a short stinger for the forklift, it would have given you better reach, but the shop may not do enough work with the forklift to justify it. Very interesting video, thanks for posting.
I did not see a separate engine for the drill unit? Does this main engine run the drill unit thru use of a PTO?
The driveshaft has a huge transfer case in the center of it that moves the drive power to the platform. The transfer case runs a bunch of hydraulic pumps.
Never let the guy start a big job righty before he leaves😂
Forklift is kind of like a small crane. Great job as always.
Have great day Adept Ape

We sometimes have to do similar with our Vactors, crew trucks, and hydroexcavators. We have a 10 ton crane on a rail hanging from the ceiling, but sometimes it's easier to use the forklift. Or use both together, like you did here.
The heavy equipment guy is going to be pulling a radiator on a CNG Vactor next week. He'll be using both the crane and our 60,000 pound custom-built drive-on hoist to do it. It has to be done in one day because we can't keep CNG vehicles indoors overnight just in case they leak fuel.
He's not looking forward to it.
Good job. No apologies needed.
Im just waiting on someone to come in and say they could have done it in half the time with a 'cherry-picker' and a seatbelt they cut out of a Grand Prix. 🤣
funny bus was in the shot is at least 40 years old rts worked for bus company 6/72 or silver 92 v6
We always use a forklift. It's big enough to install the engine with the Trans attached. So much easier than trying to mate them in the truck.
I'm pulling a c7 out Monday with a tow truck!!
Always enjoy your videos, this is no exception!
25th 👊🏻💪🏻
Adept Ape Video right when I need it
Man if i had a guy like this in my shop i would be glued to his hip trying to soak up as much information and knowledge as possible
Thanks for your time. Love from Greeley Colorado
Adept Ape logo on truck door👍
You caterpillar guys are spoiled every engine that I put in our shop has been done by a high low and it's really not that hard once you get the hang of it
Josh ... Even you just wave or say hi in your youtube videos and its few seconds video thats even good enough
Josh how do I send some pictures to you for destruction of the week?
When adept ape makes a video it all works for me
Just like I posted in the last video.😂
Hi
Any body have c32 cat engine
@adeptape crazy question here. But, I was looking at the logo on the door. You play Warhammer 40k? Adeptus Mechanicus?
It isn't a coincidence. Never played the tabletop game. Played the first Dawn of War and like the universe.
Another good video...thanks
Look up the Red Dragon frack machine for Haliburton. Has a locomotive engine. Did a PM on 1 . Unbelievable. We had to test it for runaway protection. Shook the dust off All the rafters.
you guys looking for anyone?
Back in the day had to put motor mount bushings on trucks with a 3408. Sometimes would have to use a come a long and wrap around the frame to pull it back together. Pulled a few 3176's out of Ford car haulers, that was fun. I think the customer made the right choice and installed a factory Reman. All the latest improvements are on the engine.
What cam are you using ? How is you batt life lasting ? If your plugged in how are you not over hearing ? Ty great vid
Something new from you, and I'm right there. Learn things I do and appreciate you a lot.
Fork lift is the main tool we use to pull and put 3208s into vintage Bluebird motorhomes. Forks under the front frame crossmember, transmission connected and supported by rolling transmission jack. Process has been developed to the point we have a custom dolly to support the engine, fork truck is the power. Motor mounts are always a surprise, when they all line up.
I'd bet that ford was a glow plug failure I've heard it's a common problem
It’s been awhile since I seen a gefco rig I’ve been around that type of rig since I was young and I be 27 this year and that rig was built in enid Oklahoma and I see that it says gefco 25 so it’s a 25,000 pound pull back also for how clean it looks it’s got to be a water well rig
Thats called a drill rig .
Hey Josh enjoy all the videos wondering if you have ever dealt with a 3408c heui engine before just curious to know what your opinion is on them
Customer has been drilled before. Smart move keeping a spare at the ready.😊
The motor mount hole issue was whoever located and drilled the holes overlooked offsetting the holes after centering the pattern layout to then locate the holes, this common when drawings get pencil whipped during production or a drawing for the opposite side was transposed in the process.
How do you prevent a c7acert after a rebuild from wiping out a cylinder
We need some help regarding a c13 seriel number kcb90571. This truck doesn't have a ard head. But it has a DPF. We was told that it had to be removed and cleaned. Question is how can we clean this ourselves, how afton does this service need to preformed. Thanks for any help.
Does not have a DPF, has a Catalytic Converter sold by the truck manufacturer. Measure exhaust back psi 50 inches of water max.
Thanks
Have you ever thought of removing the front tires to make it easier to work on ? Going between the tire and bumper sucks I know
Great to see the B models getting some screen time!! Not many on the road any more...
Who will rebuild SDP at Cat dealer??? Why not rebuild as 6nz or mxs
I'm rebuilding an SDP this week.
@Adept Ape oh that's great!!!! Please give updates on that ...
Better without the music, nice work Josh
Wish I had a forklift last time I stabbed a 3406e with a cherry picker….
Edit: before everyone worries, it was torn down to a short block for pulling and installing.
Must have been quite a cherry picker.
When a drill truck is using a 3406B as its engine and they had a spare on standby, tells you all you need to know about how these companies need reliable equipment that is easy to work on should the worst happen. And in this case, engine was toast, and it took little time to swap in the spare. And it still boggles my mind to think that all the money wasted by ALL of the companies trying to fight emissions regulations, all of that money could have been pooled together to actually make functional, reliable emissions equipment. Instead, the last of the truly reliable, workhorse engines are a dying breed.

I think you guys need to cut down on the coffee at work, you were moving way too fast. Somebody might get hurt.🤣
😎👍
No apologies needed. Interesting video for sure. Setting the engine reminds me of my C15 recently in my '05 379. My mechanic had to build a spacer and put bolts in the exhaust manifold holes in the block to move the engine further away from the hoist to get it under the cowl
Looks like you had the whole brains trust there for that job. Always good videos.
why you even bother to cover up the company name when you can read the dot number?
Thanks for sharing
