Thanks for this great discussion. I had often prayed for a lobotomy because recovery was so hard. As Ben mentioned, addiction is the opposite of connection. But Jesus wants to reveal his love to each of us individually. Relationship is the key to revelation. But I was trapped in the lies, so I had to renounce all the lies (that I am not loveable, for instance) in the name of Jesus. Emotionally, I have been allowing God to soften the hardness in my heart. Watching The Chosen, season 2 episode 2, "I Saw You" really moved me closer to God in a more trusting relationship.
This topic is pretty deep as an individual like myself who was faced with porn is mainly a journey of understanding scriptures, people who may and may not know clearly this addiction and see Christ in every step of my healing. I get some good advice and some bad. I like Nick's example of someone losing 100 lbs as a prayer request. It's a good example. Here is another example ... Hebrews 4:12 and how I read a convicting verse in 2015 but I read it 9 years later with many forms of church counseling and now I am miraculously healed but compiled by my journey which may not be the same as others. What matters is that I am completely healed. . It's hard to disect scriptures as something to be taught systematically also when the other side of the Word of God being living and breathable is the individual who has learning abilities. Not all of us are straight A students. I have met up with intelligent children today that are so smart, I wonder why I did not grow up the same way ... 😂. But then again, here is another twist. I am diagnosed with myopia and mistigmas. Why Lord am I not with 20 20 vision? So many things to discern what is right or wrong to do. What matters is this. I am at complete place of Gods Peace but there is more to be done aside from my healing. There is my wife and children and it is a humbling experience to be next to Christ in this roller coaster of life.❤
