He didn't believe them and made a bet. He tried but he lost and to honour their bet, he shaved all his hair off! That's who Hua is. Other than being a superstar on stage, (he's almost completely a different person off stage - extremely soft spoken and awkward but he's improved very much after being one of the 4 co-hosts in the variety show Ace vs Ace seasons 4(2019) and 5(2020) ) , he's extremely well mannered, kind, thoughtful, humble and philosophical. This performance was 2 years ago, he's even better now! I've never like rapping but I love Hua's because the words are so clear and precise though it's at break-neck speed! I love all his songs, particularly "I really Want to Love This World". This song is dedicated to people suffering from depression. A little background knowledge- Hua's 30 years old now. His parents divorced when he was 2. He lived with his Father who probably took the divorce hard and was always at work and left the poor boy alone all the time. Hua would chase out all his nannies (his family is quite well to do ) and pretty much "grew up on his own"- his own words during one of the tv shows. So he's very lonely and perhaps that's why he said he's not good at "talking". He would write the music but always get a lyricist to help but he's very very stringent when it comes to music. He would make the lyricist rewrite over and over again till the lyrics express his feelings exactly. He always says his voice is only a tool, to complete the music and song. He can sometimes sound like a musical instrument. However he's very relaxed in everything else. He loves to say "随意", meaning "do as you please". Hua started learning music at the age of 6 with the flute and then move onto the piano (the world renowned pianist, Lang Lang is one of Hua's best friends). Hua wrote his first song when he was 12 after mastering the piano. He's a quick learner, he knows how to play the guitar and drums but according to him, he's not good at them. He says he only knows enough so that he can compose songs. Many call Hua a genius but he always says that he's not a genius but that he started working hard much earlier👍He's often praised by his seniors for his diligence and his good attitude. He attended the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. He was a graduating student when he won the Super Boy singing contest in 2013. In the midst of his crazy schedules of writing songs for his albums, tv shows as a celebrity mentor and judge and his sell-out concerts after he debuted, he went to Berklee College of Music in 2017 to study singing and rapping. He thought it would take some time but he discovered many of the techniques suited English songs more so he only learnt what he felt was most useful and went back home after 2 to 3 months. You can read up on Hua in the internet. He's world famous. He has millions and millions of fans, in China and the world. I find it very strange his agency doesn't promote him outside of China. No matter, Hua's a GEM and he cannot stay hidden👍👏 This must be said, Hua has a fantastic relationship with his fans know as ETs or Martians because Hua was called "the little brother from Mars" when he sang a lyrics-less song in the Super Boy audition. His concerts are known as the Mars Concerts which Hua holds once a year. His first sentence in each concert is "Welcome home!" His many great fans do a lot to promote him outside of China. Hi guys, do just call him Hua Chen Yu in that order because that’s how Chinese names are traditionally. Hua being his surname/family name phonetically pronounced “who-ah” said quickly 😝 But you guys are quite accurate on your first try 👍👍. Great observation on his stage presence, confident and fearless, always done with conviction. Off stage he is a bit awkward and reserved. A music director once said of him: “the larger the audience the more excited he is”. Throw him a musical instrument and he’d forget his own name 😝😝😝 This was originally a Jay Chou’s song which was oceans apart but equally good. He has a solid vocal range and a stage presence second to none in the industry. Even on the biggest stage, his small frame fills up the entire arena. HYC only came into the music scene when he was 23 ( SuperBoy competition) Believe it or not he was tricked into going for the audition. He was just 'raw' and he sang a song without lyrics. While 2 of the judges took him for a joke, one completely understood him.( He was an only child from a rich/divorced family. Neglected since young to the point of even putting a toy gun under his bed to fight off his demons. He keep his songs and music to himself) During the competition he had to faced many challenges like socializing /interacting with fellow competitors and the press. Was asked to sing english songs when it wasn't his best subject. He even thought of giving up cause everthing was just too much for him. Somehow he managed to pull through and won the competition (even if it was rumoured tat his looks might not b good enough for the rating of the show) As years went by expectations from looks to more popular type of songs preferred were all kicked out by HYC in his 'I Don't Care" hit. He has grown stronger each year. Receiving more respects each day. He is not only a good singer but a very fine man.

The Br3ak Room Fake Monk is sure special, I personally like it because I understand his feelings that is expressed (loneliness) but it’s really an art piece. It’s weird yet fascinating, nobody would dare to do this kind of rearrangement but him. You’ll hear it yourself I guess but I don’t know if it is a great song to explore Hua Chenyu, unless you really understand how artistic Hua is or can be, but multiple reactors reacted to this one early so you should be fine.
Yes he is so relaxed, it’s a huge stage for famous singers (millions of people in Asia and mostly in China watch this) so EVERYONE is always so nervous, I remember one of the youngsters crying from nervousness. You can get eliminated but literally Hua Chenyu just entered the building craving for food and saying “I just came here for fun” he did not go for championship actually but he did get second. In Singer 2020 he was re-invited due to the new rules in that year which comes to popular modern hits and that year he was much more serious and he won.

It's not all about how technically perfect his pitch is, but using it for emotions and atmosphere. Even if you don't react to all his songs, at least watch them on your time to appreciate his artistry. I'm two years late to this reaction. Hua Chenyu is a great performer and all round musician. If you liked his version, you should also check out the original singer's version, which is a full rap song. He is the great Jay Chou, another amazing artiste, singer-songwriter.
The song is about a kid explaining that he tried out every Kung Fu style and he likes nunchuck the best because of its softness and hardness. As you all said, he sang the song with three different style and the last one is kind if like the traditional Chinese opera style.

I love this performance of Hua Chenyu. A song that's a totally different energy but captivating is "Fake Monk". You can get the English subtitle on Baby Bamboo channel. He's a fantastic performer in all of his songs.

Hua Chenyu, an amazing musician from China. He's got some great performances. Some of them are very intense. The ones I've seen that impressed me the most are: Child; Fake monk; Dad I'm home.... but the list is big and diverse. "Namping Hills" duet is also very beautiful.
Dimash and Hua, two of the most versatile and creative artist in the world. Hua is another one that you never know what you are going to get but it will be awesome.

He is definitely an amazing performer with so many skills, but he's actually had a hard life and really only started his public presence in 2013. His journey through Singer 2018 includes a set of songs that touch upon the journey of his own growth and development. He also participated in another show called The Next where he is challenged to rearrange and perform a song within 24 hours... there are quite a few gems there!

Hua Chenyu is the most complex and talented composer and performer in the world and I don't think I'm exaggerating. I became a fan after the first audition. He was compared to Freddie Mercury, but I don't think he can be compared to another artist. he is unique and brilliant ... he combines different styles of music in a unique way. He didn't believe them and made a bet. He tried but he lost and to honour their bet, he shaved all his hair off! That's who Hua is. Other than being a superstar on stage,
(he's almost completely a different person off stage - extremely soft spoken and awkward but he's improved very much after being one of the 4 co-hosts in the variety show Ace vs Ace seasons 4(2019) and 5(2020) ) ,
he's extremely well mannered, kind, thoughtful, humble and philosophical.
This performance was 2 years ago, he's even better now! I've never like rapping but I love Hua's because the words are so clear and precise though it's at break-neck speed! I love all his songs, particularly "I really Want to Love This World". This song is dedicated to people suffering from depression.
A little background knowledge-
Hua's 30 years old now. His parents divorced when he was 2. He lived with his Father who probably took the divorce hard and was always at work and left the poor boy alone all the time. Hua would chase out all his nannies (his family is quite well to do ) and pretty much "grew up on his own"- his own words during one of the tv shows. So he's very lonely and perhaps that's why he said he's not good at "talking". He would write the music but always get a lyricist to help but he's very very stringent when it comes to music. He would make the lyricist rewrite over and over again till the lyrics express his feelings exactly. He always says his voice is only a tool, to complete the music and song. He can sometimes sound like a musical instrument.
However he's very relaxed in everything else. He loves to say "随意", meaning "do as you please".
Hua started learning music at the age of 6 with the flute and then move onto the piano (the world renowned pianist, Lang Lang is one of Hua's best friends). Hua wrote his first song when he was 12 after mastering the piano. He's a quick learner, he knows how to play the guitar and drums but according to him, he's not good at them. He says he only knows enough so that he can compose songs. Many call Hua a genius but he always says that he's not a genius but that he started working hard much earlier👍He's often praised by his seniors for his diligence and his good attitude.
He attended the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. He was a graduating student when he won the Super Boy singing contest in 2013. In the midst of his crazy schedules of writing songs for his albums, tv shows as a celebrity mentor and judge and his sell-out concerts after he debuted, he went to Berklee College of Music in 2017 to study singing and rapping. He thought it would take some time but he discovered many of the techniques suited English songs more so he only learnt what he felt was most useful and went back home after 2 to 3 months.
You can read up on Hua in the internet. He's world famous. He has millions and millions of fans, in China and the world. I find it very strange his agency doesn't promote him outside of China. No matter, Hua's a GEM and he cannot stay hidden👍👏
This must be said, Hua has a fantastic relationship with his fans know as ETs or Martians because Hua was called "the little brother from Mars" when he sang a lyrics-less song in the Super Boy audition. His concerts are known as the Mars Concerts which Hua holds once a year. His first sentence in each concert is "Welcome home!"
His many great fans do a lot to promote him outside of China. I personally think that Hua Chenyu English Subs really help to reach out to the rest of the English-speaking world.

Hi guys, do just call him Hua Chen Yu in that order because that’s how Chinese names are traditionally. Hua being his surname/family name phonetically pronounced “who-ah” said quickly 😝 But you guys are quite accurate on your first try 👍👍.
Great observation on his stage presence, confident and fearless, always done with conviction. Off stage he is a bit awkward and reserved. A music director once said of him: “the larger the audience the more excited he is”. Throw him a musical instrument and he’d forget his own name 😝😝😝

HYC only came into the music scene when he was 23 ( SuperBoy competition) Believe it or not he was tricked into going for the audition. He was just 'raw' and he sang a song without lyrics. While 2 of the judges took him for a joke, one completely understood him.( He was an only child from a rich/divorced family. Neglected since young to the point of even putting a toy gun under his bed to fight off his demons. He keep his songs and music to himself) During the competition he had to faced many challenges like socializing /interacting with fellow competitors and the press. Was asked to sing english songs when it wasn't his best subject. He even thought of giving up cause everthing was just too much for him. Somehow he managed to pull through and won the competition (even if it was rumoured tat his looks might not b good enough for the rating of the show) As years went by expectations from looks to more popular type of songs preferred were all kicked out by HYC in his 'I Don't Care" hit. He has grown stronger each year. Receiving more respects each day. He is not only a good singer but a very fine man.

The Br3ak Room Fake Monk is sure special, I personally like it because I understand his feelings that is expressed (loneliness) but it’s really an art piece. It’s weird yet fascinating, nobody would dare to do this kind of rearrangement but him.
You’ll hear it yourself I guess but I don’t know if it is a great song to explore Hua Chenyu, unless you really understand how artistic Hua is or can be, but multiple reactors reacted to this one early so you should be fine.
Yes he is so relaxed, it’s a huge stage for famous singers (millions of people in Asia and mostly in China watch this) so EVERYONE is always so nervous, I remember one of the youngsters crying from nervousness. You can get eliminated but literally Hua Chenyu just entered the building craving for food and saying “I just came here for fun” he did not go for championship actually but he did get second.
In Singer 2020 he was re-invited due to the new rules in that year which comes to popular modern hits and that year he was much more serious and he won.

It's not all about how technically perfect his pitch is, but using it for emotions and atmosphere. I'm two years late to this reaction. Hua Chenyu is a great performer and all round musician. If you liked his version, you should also check out the original singer's version, which is a full rap song. He is the great Jay Chou, another amazing artiste, singer-songwriter.
The song is about a kid explaining that he tried out every Kung Fu style and he likes nunchuck the best because of its softness and hardness. As you all said, he sang the song with three different style and the last one is kind if like the traditional Chinese opera style.

I love this performance of Hua Chenyu. A song that's a totally different energy but captivating is "Fake Monk". You can get the English subtitle on Baby Bamboo channel. He's a fantastic performer in all of his songs.

Hua Chenyu, an amazing musician from China. He's got some great performances. Some of them are very intense. The ones I've seen that impressed me the most are: Child; Fake monk; Dad I'm home.... but the list is big and diverse. "Namping Hills" duet is also very beautiful.

He is definitely an amazing performer with so many skills, but he's actually had a hard life and really only started his public presence in 2013. His journey through Singer 2018 includes a set of songs that touch upon the journey of his own growth and development. He also participated in another show called The Next where he is challenged to rearrange and perform a song within 24 hours... there are quite a few gems there!

Hua Chenyu is the most complex and talented composer and performer in the world and I don't think I'm exaggerating. I became a fan after the first audition. He was compared to Freddie Mercury, but I don't think he can be compared to another artist. he is unique and brilliant ... he combines different styles of music in a unique way.
