    🌟 About this video
    As someone who's never tried Charlotte Tilbury's makeup, I'm still very interested by her fragrances. The new vegan and cruelty free fragrance line from Charlotte Tilbury has had a lot of hype, so I bought the Emotions collection sample set... but what did I think?
    I owned the controversial Scent of a Dream a few years ago, so I was interested to see how this new collection of emotions perfumes compared! Was it more friendly? Do I think these new fragrances will be bestsellers?
    Have you tried these new Charlotte Tilbury fragrances? Which was your favourite?

    Hi Claire, I have to say that I blew off this release in an uncharacteristically snobbish fashion. I think I dismissed this release off the cuff because I just couldn’t get on with the names and marketing. Also, I don’t tend to pick up fragrances from celebrities or brands that don’t specialize in fragrance. I was surprised to hear your endorsement of the yellow bottle. I guess I should be more open minded. The green one sounds interesting, but I probably wouldn’t get on with it. But maybe that’s a snobbish view too lol. Needless to say, I’m not picking up any of them. I appreciate your review. 😊 On the description the blue bottle might be something my husband would appreciate on me but I’d choose it from a different brand . I hope your weekend is a good one. Mona

      I think really you can find similar things, likely better and at a lower price point elsewhere. I was intrigued to try these and quite surprised actually that I enjoyed some of them, but I have no desire to buy any of these. Joyphoria is pleasant but I've got that type of fragrance aplenty and Magic Energy is the most imaginative but I know I won't wear it and there's something there that I'm not sure about. I also think this line is overpriced too, but then that's most fragrance these days sadly. Thanks for watching 🥰

      @@docm5314 I do think the bottle design has split opinions. I quite like the bright colours on the shelves in store, they do at least stand out. I guess CT is one of those OTT kinds of people so that sort of fits with how she is 😊

  • @mnop1774
    @mnop1774 Месяц назад +7

    I just love your reviews and your channel as a whole. I did not bother to look at this line because I can't get behind CT and her views on the notion that women need to wear makeup 24/7. I think she's even commented that her husband has never seen her without makeup. I have no doubt she's incredibly creative and talented but that mindset doesn't resonate with me so it's a hard pass. I still loved that you tried them out for us and took the time to thoroughly review. xx, Kim

      Wow, that's insane, I had no idea... I guess makeup is what she loves and is passionate about, and that kind of extreme viewpoint in interviews gets attention. I guess it's in her interests to potentiate that kind of view too, but it makes her sound like she's from the 1950s doesn't it?! Thanks for watching 🥰

      Yes, it's not the same, it's just in that very wide genre, out of the two, it would be Terracotta every time for me, but I guess this is the lighter more tropical, bright choice.

    I tried 4 of these at Sephora and they seemed heavy on molecules like iso-E and ambroxan to me. Fairly straightforward designer-type fragrances that I didn't really jibe with. Excellent review!

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад

      Yep, they are very designer feeling in the main. You know what? I wore my rollerball of vanilla Coco from Kayali again yesterday and it struck me how good the early fragrances were from them and at a reasonable price point with a twist... These we have all smelt many times over, with perhaps the exception of magic energy, and they are nearly double the price that the original Kayalis were, but I guess prices went up... Thanks for watching 🥰

    I think we had a lot of the same thoughts on this line! When you mentioned the anise and fennel I was like yes! 🙌🏼 I mentioned picking up on those notes in my review too! I sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one getting something out of a fragrance, but I thought.. Well if Claire gets that too, I must at least be on the right track! 😊❤

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад +1

      Absolutely! Me too! I had a hard time trying to think of something gentle enough! Fennel was my best try, but it wasn't just fennel. Apparently that could be the palo santo, someone who has the essential oil says it smells like that. Thanks for watching Tammy! 🥰

  • @ems_h.eartnotes
    @ems_h.eartnotes Месяц назад +6

    Such a fair and thoughtful review of these, Claire, great job. I agree, nothing terrible but nothing knocking my socks off. I have still only worn Joyphoria on the skin, which I agree is pretty well done and lasts well without being cloying.
    Also about the liquorice facet in Magic Energy... I have a rollerball containing Palo Santo essential oil. I've never smelled palo santo wood, but the essential oil is definitely very anisey. I use it when I have sinus bother or sinus headache but it is also really helpful for anxiety I have found.
    My ranking is:
    1. Joyphoria
    2. Calm Bliss
    3. More Sex
    4. Magic Energy
    5. Cosmic Power
    6. Love Frequency

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад +2

      Yep, Joyphoria is ok isn't it?! Really quite pleasant.
      I kinda like magic energy actually in a way, I just don't think it feels like it hangs together with the sweetness, but I did really like the anise) fennel whatever, so if that is palo Santo then wow, I'm going to try some more with that. I think the only others I have with it are a Kayali and the Byredo one that I can never remember the name of 🤣, neither of those are more than woody with a kind of smoke but not feeling, perhaps not the best examples! I would love to smell the essential oil! It sounds nice. Thanks for telling me! ☺️
      I thInk Calm bliss was a bit too much for me after a while, but I did like it upon first spray. I can't say I want to buy any of these. They just didn't grab me. 🤷‍♀️

      @@dr.claire.perfume yeah I think we are not the target market. I did try them all on skin yesterday after watching your video and my thoughts are more or less the same. I don't really think there's much here for fragheads 🤷‍♀️
      I'd send you some of the palo santo thing but it is a rollerball oil so not gonna be the easiest to decant. It's by Root & Flower but just looking on Google, I think they have closed, and not posted on IG for 2 years. So many small brands going under 😥

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад +2

      @@ems_h.eartnotes nope, me either. There's minimal twist here apart from Magic Energy. You could maybe put a tiny bit on a tissue in a sealed bag? When I saw, over the past 10 days or so, every RUclipsr reviewing these and the new Kayali, I automatically thought that these would be overhyped. I'm not interested. 🤷‍♀️ I did not checkout the other reviews, but watched yours because I knew you wouldn't "over glorify" these.

      Yep absolutely, they are so bad but they aren't anything you haven't smelt before or to me, anything that isn't done better elsewhere, the one to actually try is probably Magic Energy because it's different, but I think its scent profile will mean that is an unusual choice for most people. Joyphoria was very much that more modern bananary sweet ylang ylang. I love your final thoughts, the way you reason about is it worth buying? Performance, price and the smell justify the high price? Are there similar and even better alternatives? I also always make these questions before buying. This is called wisdom ! 😁😊💖

      @dr.claire.perfume  Месяц назад

      Aah hello! And thanks for subscribing. Err, to me it's not immediately similar, but I could understand the comparisons as they are both laundry fresh lavender based fragrances. I really love the use of aldehydes in the opening of lazy Sunday morning, I think it's stunning and a really well constructed fragrance. Calm Bliss definitely has the clean laundry feel but it's much more textured than Lazy Sunday Morning because of the cashmeran and dense laundry musk feel. It's worth trying if you enjoy LSM though, also the drydown of lazy Sunday morning to me is quite similar to Lovely. Calm Bliss is not immediately similar to Lovely to me either. The texture is really very different. Thanks for watching 🥰

      I think it will depend on your tastes, but to me, the light blue one is full of cashmeran and that is a bit much for me after a while, despite it being pleasant upon first spray, I'd suggest drop d'issey is similar, cheaper and more interesting.
      I don't think I'd ever describe anything as an old lady perfume because I think some people find that term offensive. I do however say that the type of rose in Love Frequency is thought of as "old fashioned" by a lot of people so I understand what people might mean to an extent with one of these fragrances, these are hardly like the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances or the Estée Lauder legacy range which people might also use that description for, they feel way more modern. I would suggest trying them if they appear, they might surprise you. For sure though, these are nothing too special for me. Thanks for watching 🥰

    I didn't enjoy Love Frequency at all. I did try it on skin, and yes like you say it has a likeness to Liquid Love but there was something really off about it. More Sex seemed okay in first impressions, seemed like a nice leather actually. Calm Bliss, Cosmic Power and Joyforia just weren't doing it for me. It's interesting how the first one seems to be so similar to another the brand owns 🤔 glad to see they spend nothing on creativity... I like leather and suede too.
    Yellow florals I do enjoy alot. Tropical island sounds good with tuberose. Actually sounds not too awful apart from how strong it is. I'm not a lover of Goddess intense was not for me 🤣
    Herbal creamy woody. Kinda liqouricey sounds not too bad. I'd probably struggle with the creaminess and saltiness. A shame it has a bit of similarity to something else.
    Serenity and 97% of 5 folks think it was calm. Shame about the neroli, tho nivea and bright sounds pleasant. Oh no cashmeran and ambroxan. Though I do like A Drop, but not as good? £100? 😱 How much are these?
    Ah Dom R, and an empowering one. The notes sound promising, except maybe the gourmand. Oh that sounds a bit of a shame. Well the world was crying out for another vanilla. Just a rare DNA atm. Ooo and like a Mancera 😉. Probably wouldn't be a love for me.
    Thanks Claire for reminding reviewing these. I do struggle with the molecular things and I'm at a stage where I want something a little different nowadays. You've definitely saved me £25.
    Interesting ratings too. Are you gonna get the yellow floral one.

      Downright weird isn't it? I have no idea whether Puig just mixed up the files for these two lines and picked up the wrong pieces of paper in the lab but I have my suspicions 😂
      Joyphoria is only similar to Alien Goddess Intense at the stage when the initial blast has died back for AGI but before the grainy muskiness and soapiness kicks in. It's a small window. I don't think ylang ylang is listed in AGI, but I smelt it the other day and somehow it makes me think of it.
      I think Magic Energy is the best here for originality. If I wanted something different, I'd choose that one.
      These are a lot Jon and they make £27 for 50ml of Drop look like a bargain...
      Nope I'm not getting any of these. I've got yellow sunny florals aplenty and this one is just not quirky enough, it's very safe and I just think now I've got Terracotta and Forbidden Bloom, I have no need of it. I don't think I'd use it.
      Good to have tried these, but yes, knowing you, I know there's absolutely nothing for you to get excited about, or even wake up for. Thanks for watching 🥰
