I’m at this crossroads now. I have a podcast for my business but it’s not growing as much. So I was told to focus on my personal brand to reach a wider audience and filter people to my business who fit the niche.
Absolutely, focusing on personal branding can indeed help grow your podcast audience. It's about showing your unique perspective and values, which attracts listeners who resonate with your message. This, in turn, can guide the right people to your business. Give yourself a challenge. Post a thought leadership piece every day for 30 days. You’ll see progress, which you can then build on. Good luck 👍
I started with bussiness brand but it took more of your time and energy to manage people hire right person ,setting up systems.. With personal brand it is competitively easy and simple and more likely to be connected and reached out for networking... I am thinking to take the benefit of both and focusing more on my personal brand while using bussiness brand ,logo where ever needed
Its a common strategy... The personal brand becomes the face of the business brand while the business brand delivers the products or services... Think Gary Vee and Vayner Media
This is VERY helpful! This has been my dilemma for 2-3 years now! I stopped marketing myself because I'm unsure of the branding I'm communicating to my audience so this really made me step back a bit more and do some internal evaluation. THANK YOU! New sub here.
I'm an entrepreneur myself with a technology business. I have been thinking about this and I eventually opt for company brand instead because I want the people to know my company first as that's how they may buy/use my products/services and not because of me. Building a personal brand may actually backfire to my perspective, because I'm the focus rather than the company. If you look at popular brands like Samsung, Dyson, SalesForce, Huawei, Rolex - do you even know who the founder/CEO is? I bet most people don't, but they are still very very successful.
If you feel your personal brand is getting more traction than your product brand, then you can either integrate your business brand into your personal brand activities, or deliver more content & engagement from your business brand
This was great and as usual right on time for where I am in my process. Currently building a personal brand and revamping a business brand so that I do more engagement on my personal platform and route the services through the business. I think you touch on a lot of info I know deep down but sometimes I am not certain because branding, as you mentioned is creative and there’s no one size fits all approach. Thanks for this content!!!
i am in the process of developing a brand, and i was stuck between the personal and business aspects of branding. i believe i as an individual have a lot to offer and i would like to use my skills and talents to help others in the long run. So my take back from this video is that i can start a personal brand to build connections establish myself while working on my business brand, packaging my services and products. that way my personal brand can serve as a marketing platform for my business brand.
This is nice I have this dilemma of choosing between personal and business brand. Like you said businesses are beginning to imitate human values so definitely need a face which will instill trust in the minds of your audience. And then here's my personal brand for connection with people. My question is can I combined the two. And how
I started our with a Business Brand. However I noticed at some point that people engaged more with my Personal Facebook page than they did with my business page. So I started a personal RUclips Channel. It took the Business RUclips Channel over a year to hit 100 Subs but the personal one did in a few Months. The Business Channel didn't hit 10,000 views in over a year, the personal one hit it in a few months as well. Right now, I am growing both concurrently with more focus on the personal brand. I can run whatever business I want as a person and promote a book or anything. But the Business page has to Strictly talking about Financial Trading and that's it.
@@BrandMasterAcademyhow do you use your personal brand as the face of your business brand? As in, for example, having Facebook pages for both of them and using the personal one to redirect people to the business one or the business website? Can you also please make a video re Personal branding - should we use our own existing Facebook profile, or should we create a new profile? for example Alexandra Sue is a personal facebook profile and she wants to be a designer. Should Alex Sue rename her already existing profile as Alex Sue - Design services or Design with Alex Sue or something like that; or should she create a new personal profile (besides the Page, of course) and just keep her personal profile personal, and make her new Alex Sue Design profile, a business one? Hope I'm making sense. You video is highly useful!
Thanks Stephen. I have a coaching (business and personal development) business which is just starting and my partner was saying brand the business. Im still a little confused as to what makes sense for thisntype of business. Whatbare your thoughts?
Thanks for sharing! For a coaching business, a personal brand often works best to build trust and connections. However, if you plan to scale or sell the business later, consider a business brand too. You can do both-use your personal brand to attract clients and a business brand for structure.
Thanks for your video, my question is does my personal brand have to align with my business brand? If so how do you differentiate? It's very important to me to separate my personal life from my professional life.
If your personal brand will be the face and the front lines of your business brand then yes... think about umbrella branding / brand architecture and think of your personal brand as a sub-brand to the parent business brand
Thanks for the video. Im still confused with business branding vs personal and should I do both or just stick with business branding. One thing to consider is I’m not a social media person and I don’t have an IG or FB acct. I’m in the process of starting a home cold pressed juice delivery business. I have a logo, recipes, branding guidelines and marketing strategy. Should I just stick with business marketing and branding or do I also make a personal brand? Any info is appreciated thank you.
Given you're not a social media person, focusing on business branding for your cold pressed juice delivery might be the best approach. This allows you to concentrate on establishing your product in the market without the need to manage a personal brand.
Get a legal professional to defned you. As pre-emptive measures, you could look into creating a limited liability company under your own name and act as a representative of that company... though this isnt advice and any decisions should be made with a legal expert.
This is super helpful, thank you! I run 2 businesses and an environmental charity, and im trying to decide whether to create videos and podcasts and my personal brand or do each one separately for my company brands and not invest in my personal brand. Its not my first businesses either, and whenever ive sold a biz in the past, ive lost the following that took so much work to build and started again from scratch. Wanting to publish content for all 3 projects + future ventures in my personal brand, but im concerned it might confuse listeners as they are 3 quite different topics. All 3 projects are early stage, and id like to step back from all of them in the future (once theyre more established). What would you do? Any feedback is much appreciated. Many thanks!
Thanks for reaching out. Your situation is quite common among entrepreneurs. Here's a suggestion: consider a central hub for your personal brand to share insights on all your projects. This can help build a following invested in your journey. For each business and charity, create separate platforms for specific content. This way, you can tailor your message to each audience without diluting your brand. As you plan to step back eventually, strong, independent brands for each project will make them more attractive to potential buyers or successors. My personal brand Stephen Houraghan and business brand Brand Master Academy are good examples of this. It’s important not to neglect one or the other. The value of the3 business brand will include the presence you create for it, making it a better investment for buyers. An investment in your personal brand will mean you don’t pull the rug out from underneath yourself when you sell.

Finally the problem is solved now, I've been stuck to make the decision between the two but now it's clear.

Thanks. I've watched about 10 videos on personal brand vs business brand and after watching yours, I have concluded with having both.
Awesome!... good luck

Thank you!!!! Is it possible to have both?
Absolutely. That’s what I outline in the video. It’s not only possible but often the better strategy

Use the business brand for your products and your personal brand to make connections.. i.e. your personal brand activity feeds your business brand
