Trust me… we tried to salvage what was there but it was just not feasible on this property. It had been let go for too long. Sometimes tear down is the best option and that was the case here without a doubt. Trying to salvage the existing place just didn’t make any sense… to effectively do it would have basically required replacing everything anyways and essentially rebuilding it but at a much higher cost that I don’t know anyone that would have gone that route… so this was actually the best use of resources in this case in my opinion.
And to be fair… I have been involved in considerably more remodel projects than tear downs. You have to do what makes sense with the scenario and in this case salvaging just wasn’t feasible. The town has what’s called the “50% rule” that actually limits the ability to do the level of overhaul this place would have needed and would require that everything be brought to current code including pilings… everything… so everything would have been scraped regardless…
Here is one that was salvageable. It was certainly dated but had good bones… no mold etc… and even on original 1960’s pilings. This property had been well maintained over the years so an update was reasonable and gave it another season of life! Turned out great to! ruclips.net/video/UR-RW41G7iU/видео.htmlsi=mggOFrxMAGkX1VeM
@@SurfHomesNC-BrianInskip completely get it and ultimately folks can do whatever they want at the end of the day but this sort of thing seems like it's becoming more of the norm now. It's certainly not helping the global warming and landfill problems, that's for sure.
@@SurfHomesNC-BrianInskip If the town puts buyers in that scenario, they hopefully buy the property for essentially lot value then, it's gotta be a significant expense to completely demo and remove the home. Probably would have had to have been foreclosed for that kind of deal though. 🙂
So cool to see this since i had the home listed when they purchased. I can;t wait to see the new build and that Yaupon area is a rare find!
Looking good! Can't wait to see the new structural tech that can withstand storms, that old place was a strong breeze from the thing coming apart, ha!

I know this happens everywhere but what a huge waste of resources......
