Quick thing, Skall: none of ZT’s blades use steel handle scales (thank goodness, how much would that weigh?) They’re aluminum. All of them are 6061-T6 aluminum, which is about as strong as that material gets. For a second I thought you misspoke, but you said it twice in the video.

A:) Modern Metals: Titanium, aluminium etc. B:) Various plastics: Nylon, Lexan, whatever they make hockey pads out of, etc. or C:) Carbon Fiber. Just a fun exercise to think about
Good fucking steel. Titanium is a nightmare when it comes to forging it: it's fragile thus can be bent in very thin temperature window. And weight loss would not be worth it. What i would defenately want is modern zips, fastexes, that kind of stuff
Steel. Many other materials have short term advantages but you can't resharpen carbon fiber and good luck with titanium. Tungsten alloys might make a good war hammer but your shoulder will be gone after 1 swing. Good alloys of steel and a good education for my smiths would matter much more than and fancy materials.

Considering that it would drive subscriptions, I doubt he'd have a problem, and even if he did, I don't think there's anything that he could do about it.
It's published intellectual property, so it technically falls under copyright protection if he really wanted to pursue action. Whether or not he would even care or be able to do anything about it is irrelevant, I would want his permission regardless. Detrimental or beneficial, I would want someone to ask me before using or mentioning my material, if for no other reason than to be polite.
You know the Zulu shortened a spear to use as an intermediate weapon that was comparable to a sword. They carried this along with a long spear and a shield. The men were already trained with spear and shield and the short spear added little to their combat load. The Zulu armed in this way were responsible for the defeat of two “modern” armies during the Zulu wars. The short spear did not evolve it was invented to fill the space normally filled by British sword (a diminishing role as a combat weapon at the time for sure)
"A dragon hunting weapon from the age of the gods. The earliest form of the cross spear, serving as both a sword and a spear. Its owner was the Nameless King, a deific hunter of dragons. The swordspear is imbued with lightning, of which he was the heir."
To me the kicker about zombie tools is that the price is very good for something you can be pretty positive will last you years. Not the most nimble, no historical designs, but extremely resilient and reliable. That's good value to me
I have said for years a shorter sword blade on a very long shaft would be amazing. Most of the benefits of a spear and sword. I wonder why this wasn't done more often.
Fun fact about the makers of these wonderful blades: They actually love beer. I've ran across them several times around town at the bars. Nowhere else. Just the bars. They are awesome to sit and chat shop with, though be prepared to pay for a round(or four) to talk over. If you're local, the "12 pack fee" is literal. They will resharpen your blade for a twelve pack of good beer. Seriously, if you want a good, usable blade... You're not going to get much better. Quality work with great attention to detail. They're not cheap, but no well-made blade ever has been. Edit because I was watching while typing: Skallagrim, the trick to drawing out of those pressure lock sheaths is using your draw thumb to push the blade out of the sheath partially while drawing.

ZT "retires" their stuff way too fast...Not everyone has 3 to 500$ on hand for a sword...By the time you got what you need it's discontinued.
I feel like the target audience is the people who either just happen to have that kind of expendable income per paycheck, or people who always have something like that saved up for their releases. Not that common an individual in this day and age.

One thing to note about the sheath, it really looks like the sheath was designed to be attached to a small vehicle (moped, motorcycle) or backpack as the holes make it really easy to secure to them, while using the weight of the object to provide the resistance to make drawing the weapon easier.

Quick thing, Skall: none of ZT’s blades use steel handle scales (thank goodness, how much would that weigh?)
They’re aluminum. All of them are 6061-T6 aluminum, which is about as strong as that material gets.
For a second I thought you misspoke, but you said it twice in the video.

I thought immediately of the Elven sword too. Awesome weapon design
theyre used in fantasy because they look unusual.
they look unusual because we're not taught about weapons from africa, its mostly katanas, chinese bending swords and european stuff, sometimes persian or greek stuff too.
The Reaper III looks like a High elven sword, but this Spit sword looks more like a dwarf longsword to me.
@@marcelOberauer Yeh exactly my thought. The reaper looks like the sword the elves used in the battle of the last alliance with that epic switcheroo move

Military purpose doesn’t mean much though.

I know right? I wish I could buy all those Zombie Tools, but money is tight and... I'd also have to buy some diamonds ;)
It find it simplicity to be quite elegant, actually. Can you give me an example of what you consider elegant, please?
I think it to be elegant in the sense that all the movements you can make with this thing are strong and sturdy. Good for lopping off bits!
Also that little curve at the bottom of the blade makes me go "mmmmmmm"
"Thanks Truck, excellent ambient noise!" Oh Silly Skall, trying to pass off a fart to someone else lol
One of my favourite melee weapon concepts ever. so pretty.
While some people would call this "mall ninja sh*t," I absolutely love the design. Idk why, but I've always loved long handled swords, like the nagamaki, and the example you provided at the beginning.
I do drills with both my Spits, I have the old version too! The thing I love about the smaller version is torque, it’s very powerful and nimble. The favourite of all my swords ⚔️
I might add, the upward stroke of the Spit is menacing. You can literally pick heavy things up into the air, something you cant do with your average sword.. The long Haft generates alot of power!
What is length and weight of the smaller Spit?
I’ve always wondered what a Zulu Iklwa would be like in the hands of someone more accustomed to swords, since it’s like a gladius with a longer handle
Now we need a tactical zebra shield :p
@@andredulac4456 I'm sure you mean ox hide
It's honestly one of the most overlooked weapons in history. A well made traditional one with a full tang not as heavy as this would be very interesting indeed.
They made one on forged in fire
It is a devastatingly effective weapon even when used like a sword. The spear was designed to stab as well as slash and hack
It makes me think of the elvish swords they had at Helm's Deep in Peter Jackson's movies.
Those were based off of the Nagamaki. As they are large two-handed single edged swords. But it does bear a lot of similarities in ideas.
The Reaper looks even more similar
Like 100 years for now there’s gonna be someone like him reviewing what we consider advanced weaponry
With the amount of libtardery and banning things going on I highly doubt it, but I hope youre right.

a hypothetical I was thinking about recently: Let's say you're a weapons/armor manufacturer in the middle ages and you had access to one modern materials technology (and sufficient supplies to keep it viable) whioch would you choose and why? A:) Modern Metals: Titanium, aluminium etc. B:) Various plastics: Nylon, Lexan, whatever they make hockey pads out of, etc. or C:) Carbon Fiber. Just a fun exercise to think about
Good fucking steel. Titanium is a nightmare when it comes to forging it: it's fragile thus can be bent in very thin temperature window. And weight loss would not be worth it. What i would defenately want is modern zips, fastexes, that kind of stuff
A termomether?
Steel. Many other materials have short term advantages but you can't resharpen carbon fiber and good luck with titanium. Tungsten alloys might make a good war hammer but your shoulder will be gone after 1 swing. Good alloys of steel and a good education for my smiths would matter much more than and fancy materials.

Hey Skallagrim, I'm a writer and I'm currently working on a zombie apocalypse story(fittingly enough for the video) and I was wondering if I could mention your channel by name.
I'm not sure if you need permission to shout out a channel.
Detrimental or beneficial, I would want someone to ask me before using or mentioning my material, if for no other reason than to be polite.

skall's sarcasm is quite obvious in the end, but all the more badass and stylish for it.
Fun fact. The zule spear, the ixwa, Is named after the sound it made when you pulled it out of the human you stabbed.
Not so fun for the guy who just got stabbed
To me the kicker about zombie tools is that the price is very good for something you can be pretty positive will last you years. Not the most nimble, no historical designs, but extremely resilient and reliable.
That's good value to me
That’s one beautiful weapon my man. Absolutely gorgeous.
“It’s been 6 years..” *People don’t forget!*
I have said for years a shorter sword blade on a very long shaft would be amazing. Most of the benefits of a spear and sword. I wonder why this wasn't done more often.
I've always loved this concept and wish that starwars would make a lightsaber like this
Its essentially like a lightsaber staff with only one blade ignited
Mixing the effectiveness of a spear with the dexterity of a sword. There's always something very aesthetically pleasing about the iklwa 🤩
Skall, as a half Arab half Black man- you truly are my spirit animal
This seems to me like a perfect home defense weapon to replace ye ole baseball bat 😂😂
That thing looks like a modern version of the Yklwa.
This man drawing a double bladed sword over his shoulder made me real nervous lol
Zombie tools! Love that company, great quality work.
