      Well that’s because the customer already lowballed himself. That collection could’ve been worth at least 5-10k.
      The customer chose 1k which is very low, but it makes sense. Since he’s pawning and not selling, why would he borrow more money than he needs and end up paying more interest?
      But yeah, Rick accepted the initial offer because the customer already lowballed himself. Most customers on this show tends to value their stuff way higher and Rick has to talk them down to a lower offer. Here, customer already did that for himself.

      10% for every loan? Or is it dependent on what you borrow?
      That is actually a pretty reasonable rate. You borrow $1000 for a month for $100. They aren't taking any risk though because they have collateral and a shop that can sell it even if it takes a while.
      I have a silver belt buckle I used to pawn for quick cash, worth a couple grand at least but I was only laying it against it's scrap silver value basically (about $350 in sterling, it was heavy). I'd borrow $100 and owe like $35 ... 35% interest.
      I was a heroin addict though so $100 would get me out of a jam, but come the end of the month it was always really hard to come up with it to pay back. Sometimes I'd have to pay for an extension.

      I recommend buying from a pawn shop if you're looking for a luxury men's watch but ALWAYS know what the item retails for brand new. before you even walk in. Bought a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch from a pawn shop I had never been to before. They retail for about $1200 brand new, their starting asking price was $900, I counter offered $600 in cash. Knowing they pawn for $225 - $250 and if they bought it they probably only paid $400 - $450 at max. They then said, "Would you do $800?" I said $650, they said $750. I politely said no thank you, I'll look around and will come back if I can't find a better price. I started to walk toward the door and when I was about 4 steps away, he said "Will you do $700 cash?" I turned around with a grin and said SOLD!!! We both laughed immediately and shook hands. 😆He was happy, I was happy getting a basically brand new watch $500 cheaper than what it would be brand new. Great first experience buying from a pawn shop. 😃

      @troodon1096 2 года назад +4

      People often want to pawn something for less money than it's worth, because it makes it easier to pay the loan back. Works out well for both parties; you get a quick loan that's easy to pay back, and the pawn shop has little risk because even if you can't pay the loan back, they could make the money back selling the item. Literally the entire concept of how a pawn shop works (even if this show almost entirely shows purchases rather than pawns).

      You only need a CDL when driving a truck with over 26,000 lbs of trailer weight. Just driving the truck without a trailer for personal or transport purposes doesn't require a CDL. Though, in Rick's line of work, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a CDL. They aren't too difficult to obtain. I've had one for 20+ years (with all the endorsements) and I don't drive trucks anymore, but I've kept it active (you just have to do a DOT physical every 2 years to keep it active). Also, these days most trucks are automatic and pretty much anyone can drive them without a lot of training.

I probably watch the pawn star videos more than netflix and hulu combined probably more than any of the youtubers on here also. :-) Been to vegas three times recently but never got to go to the shop it was too far off the strip for my wife to want to go to espescially when the stars aren't even in the shop most of the time. Maybe some day.
