I didn't realize that there were only female characters involved in this fight until rewatching it here. In other media it's always so on the nose, "look at these women fighting" (e.g. in Avengers Endgame). Arcane shows how it is done - writing compelling female characters who have depth and more traits that just "being a woman", please more of this.
I am so glad that Ambessa got what she deserved! She may have wanted to protect her family but she pushed everyone away to do it and destroy Mel’s new home.
@@jamestolbert1856 I just don’t like it because the type of character that she was felt different in s2 than s1. In S1 she felt more like a neutral necessary evil that would only be a villain if she needed to be, but in s2 she’s just straight up evil, despite being layered. and the focus is on her going too far and sacrificing everything to achieve her goals. It just didn’t feel right to me. It didn’t feel like that was the type of character she was supposed to be. Dying to your own daughter is wild. The only good thing about her death is that she respected Mel.
@@kanyerahmingi think it’s what the character said in the show. She is cornered by Black Rose, and she started to get desperate. She became more ruthless and willing to sacrifice anything except Mel
This scene confused me a bit. Mel knew her mom had to die I’m assuming so why did she use the black rose instead of killing her with her own magic? Was it because she know that person was a deceiver and she wanted to kill them to? Did she kill the Black Rose person or just banish them?
she basically finished them off both at the same time as both were trying to deceive her. of course her mother's death hurt but she just wanted them both in the same space so she could end it
So, I think the thing with Mel's powers is that they are mostly defensive. In the episode prior, her powers are described as 'empathic and empowering other people'-essentially, she is a support mage. Hence, to actually kill her mother, she uses the amulet that grants her the powers of the Black Rose, as her own powers basically just shove people, and I imagine killing someone that way is rather complicated. But the more important thing is that they clearly set up a sequel set in Noxus that will probably expand her story. They didn’t want to end Arcane with Mel looking like she joins the Black Rose and fully believing in their lies, so they showed Mel antagonizing them. We will probably get to see more of Mel and Jayce/Viktor since we see her going to Noxus to take her mother's place, and the Rune in which Jayce and Viktor are trapped is picked up and transported to Noxus as well by Swain/the six-eyed raven. Maybe we see even Jinx as she is clearly set up to have survived and leaving Piltover aswell by the Airship, who knows.
@@CocoHunter-f5t Leblanc did something to Ambessa, like extracting her memory or brainwashing her (as her magic seems to be able to teleport bodies aswell). Mel stopped whatever she was trying to do with her and establishes that she is an enemy to the Black Rose.

Whoever thought of making a 1v2 containing Mel, Ambessa and Caitlyn deserves an award.
It is basically duo bot vs the fed up toplaner
@@doctorbr2195 Still unrealistic, ambessa would one hit cait

The difference between making it feel like a marketing tool and making it feel like part of efficient writing.
We saw two different things here, and im pretty sure what I saw was crap.

I'm gonna be honest, that's an extremely weird thing to somehow not realize. Especially considering 2 of the 3 are mother and daughter.
I am so glad that Ambessa got what she deserved! She may have wanted to protect her family but she pushed everyone away to do it and destroy Mel’s new home.
Killing her like that is dumb though. I’m fine with her losing but dying to Mel is crazy
@ its kinda ironic though. She wanted to protect her from Black Rose but intend shes killed by daughter’s magic

She didn’t die though. Mel saved her from the black rose.
Nooooo
(At least there will be more of her story that will come out. Rip :( )
"Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"

I was rooting for Ambessa lol I cannot stand Caitlyn
the most satisfying scene in the show

Ambessa
She So Strong
Mel
How did she die? She was barely injured
