We are Off Grid and have around 4000sqft. It was only supposed to be 2000 but things changed during construction. No issues being Off Grid, glad we made the switch and have all the amenities as an On Grid home.
Toilet tip: Dump a bucket of water quickly into the bowl after you've drained the storage tank. It will force it to flush and only leave a small amount of water in the bottom. Much more manageable.
I was surprised that nothing was mentioned when water line was reconnected, to not overtighten it. This is one of the most important steps when installing. Maybe they were rushed, because these guys are usually top notch!

I had to replace the floor in the house I had recently bought. The toilet flange wasn't attached to the floor. I was planning on replacing the tile anyway. I got the house for a good price. I have had a few projects. That was the only thing that had extra problems The house is 80 years old.
Tape measures usually have a keyhole (like a wall shelf would have) on the clip. Just find a screw that fits the keyhole, and screw it most of the way into the side of your workbench, face of cabinet, etc. You can just hand the tape on that. There, saved you $10 for a magnet, glue, and plate.

I found the off-grid segment interesting but not typical. I don't know why two people are living in the 6,000 square-foot house except for a person who is trying to have a bigger house tha their neighbors. Obviously this is not a typical retrofit which I would like to see more of in more of a standard size house. That person obviously has a ton of money to throw at their property
I am so desperate I need your help the seven-year-old little girl put slime down our drain in the sink and now the tub and sink are both blocked I desperately need ideas we have tried wink we have tried five bottles of liquid plumber and now we have tried green goblin so need your help
you need to mechanically remove that. liquid plumber and other solvents won't do it.. it's just going to sit in the pipes. you'll need a plumber, or someone with a line/whip long enough to break up the slime in your pipes. best of luck.
First adopters help bring the cost curve down. Without them, no one would have cell phones or laptops, etc. It will come once economies of scale get there.

Can we be serious for a minute about the off grid "environmentally friendly" mansion? No matter how many solar panels and heat pumps they install, they will never make up for the embodied energy in the materials required to construct that unnecessarily gigantic mansion. If you want to be really environmentally responsible, don't build 6800 sq ft to house two people.
@@robertgroover3316 - New technology can be adapted to any kind of utility distribution. It doesn't matter whether that distribution is through a single factory, a single home, or a whole metropolitan area.

You got any wooden handles on your shovel you should put some electrical tape at the top so you got some grip it is a good idea

Electric Snake it. Rent one from home supply store. The snake will remove the debris in pipes.
