I agree. His jokes and delivery were good but the fact the audience wasnt laughing made this a bit uncomfortable to watch.
Agreed. Definitely funny but still needs some polish.
Pick up the speed of his delivery a little bit, especially when a joke doesn't quite land.
Would love to see a longer set. His understated style is a good base to build his catalog on and that he's a white Muslim is his hook, and he should lean more into it.
But, only so much you can do in a 5 minute routine. All in all, 3 and a half stars out of 5.

i believe as a comdy connaisseur since the early 80s, that the awkward silence is his timing. he accentuates his awkwardness and i truly think he puposefully stays out of time, because this out of time is consistent in his other vids. its not random and i get it and like it. not all of his jokes are pure fire but he knows what hes doing with the timing and u must know comedy and your comedians to be able to see this.

The name bit killed me 🤣
It was almost as if you could see him counting in his head after each joke. "just let it land" his friends said. "don't rush through it" they said. But you gotta be able to read the room and adjust your delivery to avoid those awkward silences.
That being said, he's got some good material. And this is a pretty big break so hopefully he keeps working at it.
That's all you can get for being FCC-compliant, though.

True. Long pauses are only deserved when they are forced upon the standup comic because the audience cannot stop laughing. But this man creates the pauzes himself, and thus forces us to 'laugh' to break the akwardness. Best he can do is just rewatch this segment and learn.

I have not seen a standup comic on The Late Show that I like, yet. Unfortunately this one did not break that spell for me.
everyone saying he needs to work on his rhythm or his timing. its that his jokes are kinda short and he expected a bigger reaction from the audience. so he's pausing to fill time. because one of the hardest things about being a comedian is watching your time. not to go over or under. he's not pausing cause he's waiting for more reaction. he's pausing cause he's gotta do his time. which when jokes dont land like you expect them to it's easy for a comedian to panic and speed through their material and finish early and he didnt do that. thats a fucking professional behind the mic.
