When people don't appreciate different senses of humor you get a bitter comment section. Appreciate the art and how he didnt do the same jokes you have heard a million times. And if you still don't appreciate it, your bitter comment is still not needed.

Jokes were good. Delivery was bad. 1000s of comedians would have killed for that gig, gotta expect some heat.
But I have heard these jokes a million times. The "It sucks to get old" bit is as old as time.

Stand-up comedy has to be one of the hardest most brutal aspects of the entertainment industry. I don't get people at comedy clubs who don't even bother laughing along. It helps the mood and it helps the comic and why are you there if you're so miserable? I appreciate a couple of varieties of comedy and humor out there these days. It was getting a little homogeneous. Hey at least this guy got to be on network TV! I imagine when you get to that point you've had a few tough crowds in your day and know it's just a hazard of the job and hopefully develop a thick skin. I know I couldn't do it.
He's really good. This set might not be for everyone. But his Guy Fieri bit is gold.

Why do Colbert crowds seem so consistently dead
Well, it was just bad timing trying to be funny in the midst of what's happening.

Sebastian Scales because they have to listen to Colbert’s “jokes”- the same damn trump impressions every night .....
CBS is notorious for an older demographic and I think Colbert's humor has evolved to be a little less silly so maybe having guest comedians on his show just isn't the right fit. It works well on shows like Kimmel and Fallon and Conan because they just seem more jovial. But perhaps it is an issue with micing the audience and stuff.
Never heard of Shane Torres until I saw this, now I am checking where to get "Established 1981". Very funny guy, hope I can find more of his work.

Check out the episode of Conan where Shane defends Guy Fieri. Many folks see it as his best material, and I think it's 24k comedy GOLD.

Don't know why it has that many dislikes, but I loved the set. His delivery is on point and even though you saw where the Todd line was going, the set up and his tone made me still laugh out loud.

My friend just name his new baby Shane. I told him you have to change his name. It is just one letter different from shame. He explained me that Shane means John in Ireland, or Juan in Spanish. Less than 24 hrs, I found about this Shane Torres Guy! and I'm pretty sure my friend is going to like him, not just because both are Irish and his baby name is Shane, but also because this guy is funny!

I'm convinced that my body's warranty ran out in September of my my 44th year, because after that, everything just fell apart. Like a toaster that breaks the day after the warranty runs out. Only time i ever watch Stephen Colbert Cheese is watching the stand up, this guy is great and yeah it sucks to get older, I took a nap and woke up with a sprained ankle, like wtf!
I don’t usually like the comedians, but I liked this man. He was relatable a lot more than the ones who are STILL telling “my wife” jokes and acting like relationships are horrible (probably because that’s all the kind of relationships they’ve had, they’re socially inept and/or emotionally damaged, which seems common among comedians).
Shane is awesome. I hope I ain't that awesome friend who sobered up and is now lame, at least I don't judge my friends.

His jokes aren't bad, it's just his body language is too rigid for the jokes he's giving. It's giving mixed signals. 'probably leaving people confused as to whether to laugh or not. He should loosen up more and not be afraid to be a little more slapstick. He come's off too serious and ends up sounding more hateful, jaded and salty than there to have a good time. Laugh at yourself and let people know it's OK to laugh at your self-deprecation too.
For all intents and purposes he basically came on stage to tell us he feels like crap because he treated his body like crap while time flew by and to make fun of his sober friend, admitting he has a problem and that he's lost all hope. I wanted to find it funny but just wasn't feeling it.
