Good video - however it would have been useful if you also described disassembly. Are there any resources on this?

Thanks for a great video. Terrific job in attaching the pli-glass reservoir. Parker 51 is my favorite fountain pen, hands down. Have a Happy New Year!

Thanks for your comment Steven, I'm happy you liked it, and agree that 51s are great pens.

Tim, I posted queries on Fountain Pen Network about how to attach the pli-glass sac to my 51's sac nipple & about using 'more aggressive' adhesives than shellac. All knowledgeable/credible sources there advised to use shellac. Don't see why not since it's water/ink insoluble when dry & should hold the sac onto the nipple under the types of stresses that it would be subject to. Don't have any experience with Duos and didn't know they used pli-glass, but guess the same would hold true for them.

I recently was sent an email asking exactly how I made a new sac nipple for the connector in the pen. I have no aerometrics that needs this replaced so I have no example to use for a video. However, I plan to attempt to put together a video that shows as best I can the steps I took to make a new 'sac nipple' for the pli-glass sac to attach to. If I can get an aerometric that needs the repair done, I will use it for the video, if not, you'll need imagination along with the video.

the new sacs are so obvious they are not the same quality/thickness,durability and I would not expect them to last even half as long

I though shellac was used because it softens with heat and makes removal of the sac easier from the nipple than if you used clear nail polish. Using nail polish means you need acetone which is messy and if not careful could damage plastic.
I may be wrong but this was my assumption.

Thanks. I am far from an expert, and I have no knowledge at all of these pli-glass sac bladders. I am guessing the dealer/restorer put this type of sac on while servicing the pen before he sold it. I ordered both shellac and clear nail varnish. What put me off shellac in this case was he said a definite no to shellac and said it wouldn't fix the pli sac onto a Duofold. As it is under warranty with him still, will do as he says. I will ask him. If I can understand, I will pass on the information.

Can I ask some advice please. I have a Parker Duofold and I bought it from a good dealer who I am very happy with. I soaked the pen in water overnight which I shouldn't have done and the pli-glass sac came off-my fault. I got in touch with him asking if it was okay to attach with shellac and said no, clear nail varnish is needed. Re (Hi Tim,but Shellac will NOT fix the pli-glass sac and the metal guard. Shellac is for latex rubber, you need clear nail varnish for your Duofold.)
