What a haunting quintet this is! I love the lyrical melodies in the first movement, very Slavic in character. The 2nd movement is so tragically beautiful and powerful, what a unique and emotional experience it is to listen to it. The cyclic form is well-used in this piece, the way he quotes the melodies from the first 2 movements throughout the piece is marvelous. A wonderful example of Soviet-Ukrainian chamber music, like his 2nd piano trio!
Hello Bravo for the magnificent playing I would love to play inmy country Korea. I could find the full score but not the parts scores for the strings. Could I have the string scores if you have them? or would you let me know how to get them?
@@구자은-v8k I am working on a new edition of this piece. The published score made in 1989 in Kiev has a quite a few problems and one huge error where 5 bars in the finale have been accidentally omitted. Currently, it is still work in progress, but I hope to have it ready before the end of the year.
27:28 sounds like Leo Ornstein. I wonder if they are both influenced by something similar that I just don't know about. I mean, I know that Ornstein was originally from Ukraine, but I honestly don't know much about the musical environment in Ukraine around the beginning of the 20'th century.
Finally I can understand how Ukraine could fight against Russian invasion. Strong people, strong music.
If you are here, you had a really good taste for chamber music.
Listening to these makes me feel like an elegant chap even if i snort doritos in the morning, anyways this piece is very good indeed !
Cool Ranch, I hope.

this music is purely Ukrainian and has nothing to do with Soviet music

Wonderful quintet and a great performance ! What a discovery. Thanks
Starting with nice réminiscences of Zarebski's quintet !
he gave dignified narrative to the natural and sporatic moments of despair that puncuates our lives
Thank for this comment. Beautifully said... especially today.

I like this a lot better than his bombastic and incoherent symphonies.
