A magnificent performance by a great orchestra of this masterpiece of 20th century symphonic music! Lyatoshynsky isn't just one of Ukraine's greatest composers, he is just of the 20th century's greatest! Slava Ukraini!

The name "Peace will...." itself is a russian-soviet falsity, which was then needed by the killer of stalin and today by the killer of putin, but this music is wonderful and i`m happy that i performed it...

It's not "Soviet-Russian falcity". epigraph "Peace Shall Defeat War" was added by Lyatoshynski. But he composer was forced to remove the subtitle.

Isn't it ironic this performance took place in Germany which invaded Ukraine in WWII and it was only Russia that fended off Germany and thus saved Ukraine from falling into Germany's hand? At least that was Lyatoshynsky's intention when writing the piece. Nevertheless, I have to admit this is a brilliant performance that has many interesting aspects.

@@fortisanimaukraine3027 Thanks for the link. My personal opinion is Vienna's orchestras are somewhat unfit for symphonies of this kind since their specialty is the VIenna masters like the Strauss family. Nevertheless, I relistened to this version (ie. the Gaggero version) and have to admit it is very impressive, having many details performed with much more thoughts than others. The other version I really like is the one by Kirill Karabits (not the Chandos recording, but another live recording conducting a Ukrainian orchestra recorded a couple of years ago).

RuSSia did not save Ukraine. Shows how little you know about ussr. Soviet army consisted of all nations. There were many Ukrainians in it.if I remember right even the largest percent. For sure most Ukrainisns were given Hero of the Soviet Union.
Also it did not save Ukraine from anything. Because it kept it in prison of tyranny much more evil. Tens of millions Ukrainians were killed on USSR in Goolags, Holodomor, prisons and exciles. West just did not finish what it was supposed to do.
What general Patton wanted to do. To go farther East. So NKVD killed him for that

Honestly, the word "saved" is a harsh word to say, soviet occupation was a tragedy for our country. Two soviet-orchestrated famines already happened before WWII, the third one right after. The mass killing of Ukrainian actors, writers, scientists and others who represented our society's intelligentsia occured in the 30s right before WWII and never really stopped until we finally declared our independence. Knowing this, by the way, you can understand why we at first thought that the German nazis were liberators. We were mistaken to think that, but you can't blame us.

      "Only Russia... Saved Ukrainian"
      What a bullshit.
it's amazing how the Soviet Union suddenly became Russia. Ukrainian was part of Soviet union too. in fact, the Ukrainians themselves defended their country in WWII. 8 to 10 million Ukrainians died in that war. Ukrainians fought for their freedom then and now. and now everyone is trying to remake history and pretend that Ukraine was saved by Russia in WWII
