Nice, flew mine today. Pretty easy to setup with Runcam split. Asked rotor riot support question and they answered in 5 minutes. Board has a skull on it. Buzzer works. Clean build with 4in1 esc port (and some wires). The window on the gyro is not tinted.
Looks good overall. I like the idea of soft mounted MPU 6000. Camera control would be nice. I don't understand the need for having to select SBUS vs DSM when you are using separate pads for inverted vs non-inverted. Would make sense if it made a single pad inverted vs non-inverted.
Perhaps you should check what you ship as extra QC for now, till the vendor sorts the gyro alignment QC. Looks an easy think to see yourselves before packing. For that price that’d be expected IMO
You guys are amazing !! Thankyou thankyou thankyou for doing SO MUCH for the community. You guys are unstoppable, giants in this game. Thankyou Marc 😊❤
Bought a couple last week, put one in a Rooster frame yesterday. Haven't dialed it in yet, but it looks good so far. The side power connections suit the Rooster frame (and a few others) well, but not most of the frames I use. My only other nit-pick is no dedicated ESC telemetry, but that's pretty minor, and with space at a premium, that would be my call as well. Both mine have the IMU pitched rearward a fair amount, good tip on setting the betaflight pitch to fix that, that's what I was thinking, but I wanted to see if it acted funny before making changes. The dual ESC compatibility is a major plus, and the pad layout is indeed a pleasure to work with. You might want to add a warning to the manual/layout sheet to be careful when soldering the rear connections, you have to get very close to the IMU ribbon cable, I was a tad nervous, but as long as you pay attention, it's not a problem. Overall it's a 8 in my estimation, would have been a 9 with the power pins at the rear. (I rarely give a 10, maybe if you somehow jammed in the ESC telemetry and another UART, or went F7, but I don't see how in the space allowed) I was thinking these may show up in a Kwad Box soon, One is do in anytime, maybe I guessed right and will have to do another Kwad? I hate when that happens.... Good video Drew, hope you guys sell a lot of em.
Ooo shoulda took my offer in Feb... had an engineer, pick n' place, and American manufacturing ready but y'all wanted be obstinate and short. We set up ;built in power filtering, 26uarts, 5v and 12v output, 1gig processor, onboard ram, on board hard drive, Bluetooth w/ patch antenna, multiple gyros, fully encapsulated and plug n play with an Actual UL wet approval.
i just asked pros and manufacturer engineers, most of the industry loves what they do and were eager to help.... this fc was for a 250lb quadcopter but fits onto a 30x45 form-factor, i just dont want to blow $30k on the equip and Ul to trickle into a new market. but if the other manufacturers wanted to "help out"(bulk buy or partnership) we could advance the hobby into a world market necessity. given the responses or lack there of im now in the market for a cnc router, cnc, lathe, and cnc pick and place machine to swing a us manufacturing facility. its just going to take time but we will offer US stock of motors, fc, esc, pdb, and batteries. i have about 20k in old equipment we are selling so maybe no too long.
Looks like a dys v2 with a pointless softmount given the mpu 6000. No cam control? Much cheaper, easier to stick anywhere pyrodrone f4 osd says hi with its multiple 4 in 1 cables.
What are the benefits of a soft mounted MPU6000? I always sort of believed it was noise free enough for soft mounting not to be crucial (especially if the board itself is soft mounted). Looks good tho!
We really liked the way it flew. I believe some vibrations still make it to the FC via the thick ESC wires. The soft mounted gyro eliminates that and makes the job of the Dynamic Filter easier
.... how is it a fuck up? The additional soft mounting has no detrimental effects. I personally find that it has some real benefits and flight performance
@huhhman Wtf are you talking about? Who is softmounting an actual MCU and why would that even be an issue?! Do you even know what MCU means? You are talking about a IMU mate... If you don't know shit and just rebabble what other haters say you might as well just shut up.
Yes they should all be held to good QC and be straight. Like I said if you get one that isn’t aligned well we are happy to replace it. We just wanted to show the way to fix it for those that wanted a quick fix.
How about the guys at RR store open up every single one of them to double check for the manufacturer problem. before shipping it out to the buyers. Leave a note saying the package is open to check for alignment of the gyro mounting. Who would want to pay their own shipping for exchanges, especially if they are ordering from overseas. At least customers purchasing direct from your online store knows theirs will have no problems.
Can't believe all the fuss about the tilt in the gel-house (an Elvis pun is in there somewhere)... There are grown men in this hobby that know how to fix such things, making that a non-issue...! I hope you do well with Riot Control...! You surely know that everything can be improved, so future editions should be the ritz!
Looks nice, I might have to try one. I really like the concept of soft mounting the gyro. The one thing I'm not the biggest fan of is overlapping solder points. I just hate when I'm frustratingly fixing something quick and then I have a tiny stray wire touching another pin spot. Anymore I've just gotta have flat pads. Still a sexy board tho :)
That’s great but the signal and ground behind the stand off? just an extra complication that was unnecessary. Board should’ve been slightly bigger and those pads should’ve been on the outside of the standoff’s for better access.
Instead of the ESC signal ground pad in the corner (which I never use) a UART pad for 32bit ESC telemetry signal in every corner would have been nice. But it is easy to rant on a finished product. Nice job so far, I think it is a good product to get into the hobby safely for a good price.
JorksX yeah it should, just hook up to the non inverted pad and select ibus in whatever configurator you use. Send me a message on IG and I’d be happy to help if you need it @aarlevi101
I bought two the first day they were out. Both gyros were kinda crooked. One more than the other but when paying for a product you want it right so I returned both and ordered just one this time. Still crooked but not as bad so im gonna try it for now.
MPU6000 doesn't need soft mounting at all and RR does it twice. It's a concession to very mediocre builders I guess. Soft mounting is a way of filtering and normally we want as less filtering as possible.
If that gel is good at its job, why didn't you go for a 32khz gyro and give people more options for how they want to set it up? Limited to 8k seems an odd choice to me. Not that 8k doesn't fly great but I think the market is going to move to 32 pretty soon now that f7's are becoming more popular. And of course you can still fly a 32k at 8k if you want but not the other way around.
I also like the idea of a soft-mounted mpu 6000. However, I almost did not realize it was an mpu 6000. When I saw the soft-mounted gyro I immediately (cringed and) assumed the Riot Control was using that other, finnicky gyro chip. It might be a good idea to emphasize that even though the gyro chip is soft mounted, it is the good old mpu 6000 and not that other, less loved gyro chip. I also loved that the leds light up the clear gyro case. Way to go.
Just got one of these and it was working perfectly, then when the next day came I tried to power her up and all I got was a solid red LED.. Any ideas on what I might be able to do to fix this issue?
Hey Drib, first of all thanks for everything you guys do.. I'm a huge fan of your work and rotor riot.. I have been following you every since I got into this hobby about a year ago.. you do amazing work.. I just got my Riot Control board in today and the gyro was tilted -4.6 degrees so I aligned it back 4 degrees bc it seems it only goes in whole increments and not decimals so now it's only off -.4 degrees.. is there any way I can align it back to 0 somehow? Like through CLI or is that going to be the same. Only in whole increments? Also one more question, I'm flying Frsky so I bridged the b and sbus and I have good working signal but my smart port isn't working.. I have it soldered to the correct TX3 pad. I have telemetry turned on and I have uart 3 selected to smart port in the uart tabs... but still no telemetry.. any suggestions? Also I was reading some of these comments from these jokers about the gyro.. I think it's an awesome idea. We can always use some extra smoothness.. but I respect how you keep your cool and you still reply back to these haters.. anyways I would appreciate any ideas on my problems.. thanks Drib and rotor riot...

You must be joking. Rotor riot didnt design s..t, engineers do that. They just told DYS what do they want and DYS just went lazy about this, and reused their F4 and just added the shitty quality soft mount.
also not having cam control at this point of tech advances , this fc is already outdated. call china and see if they'll just make you some jbbf4 clones with a soft mount gyro ??
Hi I'm sorry but I don't think that's right if you install the board level on the quad and change betaflight telling the information to the computer that the gyro needs to tilt to be level then the quad would tilt ? RIGHT
I love RR but this one is a bit of a fail as far as I am concerned. Nothing really bad I just don't like the soft mounted gyro and the tall case. Waste of room especially when it has a MPU6000 and soft mount board.
Spending one minute of a 10 minute video to talk about a "gyro tilt" problem isn't gut marketing. Also, the video gave me no info on why this would be better than anything standard on the market...

Really nicely explained Le Drib! You've got a smooth way of presenting stuff and talking to the camera! Suoerb! 👍
Just got mine today. I wired it up and went out for a test flight and it flew great! Thank you!
Got mine; it's going on my Reverb frame that I got from the Rotor Riot store. Got some Hypetrains to move it all along!
Looks good overall. I like the idea of soft mounted MPU 6000. Camera control would be nice. I don't understand the need for having to select SBUS vs DSM when you are using separate pads for inverted vs non-inverted. Would make sense if it made a single pad inverted vs non-inverted.
Hypetrain is the most accurate branding for your products
I agree 💯 %
I like the price too. Man you guys are bleeping awsome. Definitely going to get 1.
Thankyou
Marc 😊❤
Nice work! What is current sensor scale in Betaflight?
Great video guys:) I cant wait to get one. Ya'll rock!
With the double soft mount why didnt you guys use a 32k gyro?
Thomas Haley because the engineers were lazy as shit
Very perplexing. Out of all the MPU's to gel mount you chose the least susceptible one to vibration. Why?
Looks like a really great flight controller. Can't wait to try one.
Love the attention to detail on this mammajamma.
Bought a couple last week, put one in a Rooster frame yesterday. Haven't dialed it in yet, but it looks good so far.

Good video Drew, hope you guys sell a lot of em.
What does ‘calibrate the accelerometer’ do then. I thought It would make the adjustments if the gyro was misaligned. Thanks
Can’t wait to try it! Thanks drew for a super detailed instruction! Very much appreciated!😊👌🏼
Ooo shoulda took my offer in Feb... had an engineer, pick n' place, and American manufacturing ready but y'all wanted be obstinate and short. Stunny FPV yeah an off shoot of a zig bee control board...
Ryan Harney you build and designed a FC of that caliber? Omfg I need this in my life. Are you going to market this unit?
i just asked pros and manufacturer engineers, most of the industry loves what they do and were eager to help.... this fc was for a 250lb quadcopter but fits onto a 30x45 form-factor, i just dont want to blow $30k on the equip and Ul to trickle into a new market. but if the other manufacturers wanted to "help out"(bulk buy or partnership) we could advance the hobby into a world market necessity. given the responses or lack there of im now in the market for a cnc router, cnc, lathe, and cnc pick and place machine to swing a us manufacturing facility. its just going to take time but we will offer US stock of motors, fc, esc, pdb, and batteries. i have about 20k in old equipment we are selling so maybe no too long.
It would be my go to flight controller if it had the faster gyro and ecs telemetry pads in the corners.
Looks like a dys v2 with a pointless softmount given the mpu 6000. No cam control? Much cheaper, easier to stick anywhere pyrodrone f4 osd says hi with its multiple 4 in 1 cables.
Coppertop FPV thats what I first thought, the f4 is probably best choice for 4 in 1s
Yep.

Seems like it should be an easy Quality Control fix to me?
Yes they should all be held to good QC and be straight. Like I said if you get one that isn’t aligned well we are happy to replace it. We just wanted to show the way to fix it for those that wanted a quick fix.
Paying a little more? Its 40 fucking bucks its average if not lower end of price for flight controllers. Damn people in this hobby are cheap asses
They rely on a person to QC. That's 1 person checking 1000 units/day.
There's always a dud that slips QC, just send it back, or buy in real shops.
How about the guys at RR store open up every single one of them to double check for the manufacturer problem. before shipping it out to the buyers. LeDribs soldering.. My Eyes hurt!!
Send him to JB for solder lessons!
omg 1st thing in noticed when i bought it and didnt think it would make a big difference. going to have to talk with quadcopters.co.uk now :(
How’s the umagawd quad going? Going with a clean and dirty board?
Don't worry Drew, I will soft mount the haters. Seems like a solid product!
Would love to see a raceflight protocol on a future fc
That’s sick, really appreciate what you guys do for the hobby real legends here at rotor riot 👌👌👌
huhhman sorry for the inconvenience
do you run your tramp to the vbat pad or directly to the battery, I ran it directly to the battery and now my OSD flicker on punch out
That’s great but the signal and ground behind the stand off? just an extra complication that was unnecessary. Board should’ve been slightly bigger and those pads should’ve been on the outside of the standoff’s for better access.
You guys should call your products the hype line ahahah. looks good guys! keep doing what ya doing
Instead of the ESC signal ground pad in the corner (which I never use) a UART pad for 32bit ESC telemetry signal in every corner would have been nice. But it is easy to rant on a finished product. Nice job so far, I think it is a good product to get into the hobby safely for a good price.
did Señor Bardwell write the manual
what about Ibus?
JorksX ibus is a non-inverted protocol like spectrum I believe
So does this board support ibus? he only talked about sbus
JorksX yeah it should, just hook up to the non inverted pad and select ibus in whatever configurator you use. Send me a message on IG and I’d be happy to help if you need it @aarlevi101
My favorite board now!
This board should be called quality control. (Lack there of)
Whaaaaaattttt! Yeah, I think I will get in on that!
Ridi_FPV lol, I'm sure you will soon.👍
I ordered this fc. But it will be a while before I put in anything. I’ve been buying one component at a time until I can complete my next build.
Does it come with Batteries? jk got one build under my belt but cheated got the stack x so next build will be this board!
Good job Drew.. 😉👍🏽
I bought two the first day they were out. Both gyros were kinda crooked. One more than the other but when paying for a product you want it right so I returned both and ordered just one this time. Still crooked but not as bad so im gonna try it for now.
what spektrum reciver uses 5v?
Mpu 6000? What a waste of good soft mounting. 😔
Flies good for us
Le Drib im sure it does ...but i got butter in my veins!
MPU6000 doesn't need soft mounting at all and RR does it twice. It's a concession to very mediocre builders I guess. Soft mounting is a way of filtering and normally we want as less filtering as possible.
You should go for a Heliorc Spring. The only fc that is making some sense for butterflight.
but you can't do 32 / 32k with the mpu6000. So I agree with Stanton High
I like that nice and big picture of the board on the manual 😂
Teeno FPV hey teeno lol
m_fpvdetroit 😂 😂
There is no pinout for the harness port.. so if you try and plug a 4in1 esc in the board you could blow it???
In the immortal words of Three days Grace: lets start a riot.
Did Rotor Riot work with DYS for this board?
Not great that you had to start with you may get 1 your not satisfied with but I've heard your customer service is really good.
Thank you I really do like the riotcontrol board I have a frame I would love to install that FC in. JohnnyDRC
Does it support Graupner SUMD (not inverted) rx? Thanks
Cannot see/find the 4in1 port layout anywhere.??
If that gel is good at its job, why didn't you go for a 32khz gyro and give people more options for how they want to set it up? Limited to 8k seems an odd choice to me. Kwad Camp in Canada July 28-29 at PlanetFPV, Mont-Trembleblant, QC
Looks good thanks
Yes, the most important part of a flight controller is the documentation
I wonder why QC Can't just examine the chips before placing them in, extra time/money? super nicely laid out FC .
Building my quad with riot fc(its my first build) and wanted to know wht do i do if im using ibus
I have purchased 3 of these, putting one on my Ichabod 6".....
So happy for g zeeeef mane I'm using Heliospring right now but I'm gonna pick one of these up for my backup just because my dude vort3x💪
Total noob question but what pads would you bridge for FPort?
The jumper pads only invert UART 1 RX not TX. FPort reauires a TX pad. You will have to do the uninvert mod to your receiver to use it on UART1 TX
Le Drib thank you sir!
What's the turbo manifold on the back shelf for?
Does it have a current sense input from a 4 in 1 esc?
Yes, check the diagram store.rotorriot.com/hypetrain-riot-control-flight-controller/
There is a 4in1 port for such ESC but i can't see a dedicated current pad to solder to.
Any way to get this for mmy 1st build
Just got one of these and it was working perfectly, then when the next day came I tried to power her up and all I got was a solid red LED.. Any ideas on what I might be able to do to fix this issue?
Hey Drib, first of all thanks for everything you guys do.. I'm a huge fan of your work and rotor riot.. Will it Dshot 2400?
why isnt this a video for an all-in-one?
Does this board fit on the Mqc fusion le drib edition
Sound like vendor quality control needs to step up their game. If you’re being shipped boards with incorrect gyro alignment you should not settle for it. Your vendor should be doing everything they can to improve their manufacturing processes and quality control. You’ll be spending lots of money on warranty replacements which will eat away at your profit.
We aren’t settling for it at all, it’s been addressed with the factory and we will be holding all future production to much stricter QC. If anyone get one from this first run with a misaligned gyro, we are more that happy to replace it if so desired.
I got two of them the first day they came out and mine are fine.
Le Drib that’s good, some people are happy tinkering m, I’d be one of those who would send it straight back unfortunately lol
I received one this week and the qyro isn't aligned properly, so there are still duds out there (or the stricter QC aren't strict enough)
Where do i search for trouble shooting with this FC. My FC LED are glowing red, not blue or green :(
When’s the highlights of the month comin?
RIGHT NOW!! ruclips.net/video/XY0Q2w3heNY/видео.html lol like Mintys comment and post your vids yall!
How did we get a Mormon ad on a Rotor Riot video lol!
The first FC that you show and say the gyro is level, that gyro is not level. I have a bad one and I was sent a replacement, but the replacement one is also not parallel to the board either.
Drew killin it again! Nice work sir 👊🙂
You need a new hair colour, just FYI - go candy apple red 😎
Camera Control?
So this flight controller doesn't need a power distribution board??
looks like a dys f4
tuckerFPV pretty sure its completely designed by rotor riot but manufactured by DYS. I remember drew saying dys warned them when they first started design that they had their v2 coming out and it was pretty similar
You must be joking. Rotor riot didnt design s..t, engineers do that. They just told DYS what do they want and DYS just went lazy about this, and reused their F4 and just added the shitty quality soft mount.
i want one but i dont want to pay for shipping. why dont you open a shop in Ontario
What is the voltage range
We need 2016 Rotor Riot back. Interpret that how you want.
Is it a pdb+fc?
Sweet FC 👍
Is it DYS F4 pro v2.1? LOL
😁😁
also not having cam control at this point of tech advances , this fc is already outdated. call china and see if they'll just make you some jbbf4 clones with a soft mount gyro ??
Yeee great. 🤘😎
Hi I'm sorry but I don't think that's right if you install the board level on the quad and change betaflight telling the information to the computer that the gyro needs to tilt to be level then the quad would tilt ? RIGHT
No.
I love RR but this one is a bit of a fail as far as I am concerned. Nothing really bad I just don't like the soft mounted gyro and the tall case. Waste of room especially when it has a MPU6000 and soft mount board.
Nice spelling on the Large Layout ReferANCE
Can I run flysky off this board?
Yes. This board seems to run off anything
Spending one minute of a 10 minute video to talk about a "gyro tilt" problem isn't gut marketing. Also, the video gave me no info on why this would be better than anything standard on the market...
You guys missed a trick to jump on new tech but I guess you’ve got to gear yourself to the market to be safe commercially.
She’s gonna be doughy as heck though with that 6000 and double the gummy bears, not my cup of tea but I can see the
Change the gyro layout on the next one. That's ridonkulous you'd have to offset it in bf.
its just stress talkin, but still gonna buy this shit becouse of you. pleased? :D
Great fc 👊😋
Pretty cool, but not enough to switch
The hyptrain Riot Gyver!
