I didn't upgrade mine. I wanted a straight up 1911A1 configuration to go along with some of my other A1s from other makes that includes a WWII vintage Colt. At the same time, I purchased the Tisas 1911DB model for about $30 more. Included in that minimal up-charge, was upgraded Novak-style sights, an upgraded beavertail, skeletonized trigger and hammer, front and rear slide serrations and ambi safety. Both of mine were very well fitted.
Yeah out of the box the various 1911B models they have are definitely a really good value! I was after this particular configuration however and I’m really happy with it, I really love the way it shoots but I do have way more in it than if I had gone that route. I’ve replaced about half the parts. Original sear, disconnector, hammer, grip safety, slide catch, ejector, extractor, firing pin stop, slide, frame, and barrel with the link. Oh and the original magazine release with an upgraded spring
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the sights recently. I bought mine locally on sale but the same sights are here: www.midwayusa.com/product/1005965738 Installation required knocking out the old rear sight, sanding and filing the new sight’s dovetail to fit nicely in the slide, tapping the new rear sight in with a soft punch. The front sight needs to be broken off with pliers and then clear the hole where it’s mounted in the slide. I put the slide in a vice (use soft jaws or cloth) with the new front sight in place and supported then I peened the post into the slide with a punch to secure it and filed it down until it was flush and allows the barrel bushing to function. I remember it taking about an hour, maybe two.
Great gun. I never want to be negative, but do yourself a favor. Get rid of that Serpa holster. It is unreliable and the release paddle does not always work. Especially, if debris settles in the crevices around the paddle, over time. This has been well documented. I very recently acquired the USMC version. Only gripe I had, is it came with a thin, type E hammer. I like your A1 wide spur hammer. I ordered one from Tisas USA, and plan to install it myself, when it comes in.
I’ve heard that since posting these videos, along with rust issues with the pin on the release paddle, I just haven’t had any issues with it. This is not my edc so I’ll probably just use it until the day it catches, as my life doesn’t depend on this one. Thanks for your advice!
Fusion firearms, it was inexpensive and gets the job done as well as the oem part and it’s more comfortable to me but there are a lot nicer options out there too.
It’s an 8 round. I’ve seen them in 10 round configuration as well but they also have the black plastic +2 extender just like the Wilson Combat 10 round. I’ve been meaning to get one but I haven’t been wanting more mags right now. Can’t recommend those two brands enough!
Mine come with two Check mate mags, one runs fine with fmj and hollow points, the other don't want to feed anything after the first round, the next 3 nose dive and fail to feed every time.
Yeah at least the Mec-Gar mag I havent had any issues since the break in period, I’d send that one in to get checked, have you inspected the spring and follower vs the other magazine?
Yeah, that’s why I don’t use anything but Wilson 47DC or CM mags when it comes to any 1911. Love the Tisas 1911A1 because of the 1940’s design but will not have any 1911 without what I think a 1911 mag should have been in the first place, an anti-tilt follower mag. Like a Wilson.
There is a link in the comments! I’ll add it to the description. I bought mine locally on sale but the ones from midway are the same. It required knocking out the old rear sight, sanding and filing the new sight’s dovetail to fit nicely, tapping the new rear sight in with a soft punch. @@TOMAS-lh4er of course! Honestly the best thing I’ve bought that was in auxiliary to my 1911 other than the mags, I could run it stock… the GI sights were rough to see but accurate and easy enough to replace, the mainspring housing and lanyard loop is era correct but unfortunately uncomfortable to me but I was able to dial in my grip safety to be nice and light when I replaced the mainspring housing, no need for anything fancy, just a fusion firearms flat untextured blued mainspring housing like $20 and a lot of filing and fitting starting with the shape of your original… with a file and sandpaper you can get a good fit. The altamont grips really are what I was looking for because they are real wood dipped in resin and they’re super slim, one of my favorite feat of the 1911. I got these for $35 and $5 shipping, they were on close out sadly… the grip screws and bushings are worth noting too they are challis, the best of the best, expensive but worth it, local to me!
Tisas doesn’t cast these parts in general. There are no casting marks. In fact recently they’ve stopped using MIM parts like you’ll find on mine (the hammer and the slide catch). They advertise 42CrM04 Forged Carbon Steel or 420A Forged Stainless Steel for all their 1911’s and from filing on their parts this seems to be accurate.
I didn’t order them but they are the narrow tenon stake on front, novak cut rear 1911 sights from Trijicon. I forget the height of the set. They were $112 in store at a local shop if I recall correctly.
Your video looks like a good one. Why I didn't like it is that at full volume I couldn't hear and understand you. I wish you woud clean up the sound issue and and repost the video.
I’ve been planning on re recording for a while now, I got a new phone that won’t have that issue, the microphone was clogged and I didn’t realize! I’ll do that soon
adjust your audio levels... i can usually hear my phone all the way across my house, with your video even full blast i cant hear you without headphones and even then its quiet
I’ve addressed this before but of course I checked…in fact I had just disassembled it, I would never dry fire a gun that I wasn’t 100% about and neither should anyone else! I apologize for not showing it on camera.
Here’s the newer video for those who wanted better sound quality!

Tisas makes outstanding quality 1911 handguns. Tisas factory has modern cutting-edge technology, including robotics and CNC machining.
Darn reliable pistol. Plus 1 on the sights! Nice.

Nice work.
Sand or file a radius on the sharp corners if the grip saftey ,it can remedy the "hammer bite"

That's nice. Upgrade sights and a Magwell and this makes a PERFECT carry gun
Would like to see a parkerized WW2 spec ambi safety
That shooter there bites you ,just take a little shot of moonshine . It’ll grow some hair on your chest. Solid content

Hello. Can you tell me where you got the sights for your Tisas M1911A1?
I got them at a local shop but I found them on midway linked down below as a reply to a similar comment!

Usually MecGars are fantastic magazines. Contact them and they will replace it.
How did you do the sight??? And which ones did you buy. Plz help
