You're the man! I finally get to learn how to read drum charts. So far, I can follow it somewhat with the video, but it seems totally different to try and read it while playing
The black lady that sang is incredible! She has a voice that's as close as you can have to an angle in heaven. Amazing drum skills and talent also didn't see any mistakes made or miss beats great job all of you. I needed to feel God and somehow this popped up in my notifications.
Very good insight into professional drumming. Right on the click and very groovy. And always Look relaxed. Good Job, ..... i hope you will be well rewarded!
Sounds awesome, brother. You make it look so effortless! I’ve been watching your videos for awhile and I know how technical you are and also, your playing style. It isn’t easy what you do but you make it look so! That’s a testament as to what a dedicated, great drummer you are! Playing for the Lord, as well! As far as I’m concerned, you’ve come full circle, David!
Gabriel FSP in one of his vlogs he said that he play in church for many, he is professional and great drummer, so its not big difference were to play, but me personally, glad to see that he plays in church, for money or not, i don't care)
I'm new to your stuff but so glad I found it! Great Things came up in our set for this week and this should help a lot, can't wait to try out some of your fills
That’s snare is on point! Not to many crankin snares these days with praise and worship music. Usually a big fat dead snare that feels like playing on a pillow is what’s required. It’s needed don’t get me wrong but I love a crackin/poppy snare too! Variety of sounds is always better! Great job on the kit man! Your a champ of a player!
Brotha you are the true definition of clean and rock solid drumming. Totally on point with everything! On another note, dang them vocals are good. It's rare in most churches to have good clear on pitch vocals like that. Yes most can sing, but high level like that is not too common.
Playing with a click + vocals cues can be hard at first, but once you've gone a month or so with it and just trained yourself to listen for it...and practiced with the band using it, gets a lot easier! I play for my church and we use click/cues/loops, I use the mid-week rehearsal to get used to what the ques actually are, by the service time I just hear A cue and remember what section comes next and how we practiced. We like to say the little man in our ear, like we're all going crazy lol but if everything goes downhill, remember what the audience/congregation hears (not the cues or click), our Pastor pulls all 3 from his foot pedal and we continue on :)
My church doesn't use that. It's just a battery pack ear monitor that just makes you hear the musicians and singers in the band. When I need to have something turned up, I have to get out of my drum cage and ask the sound guy to turn that certain instrument or voice up in my monitors. I basically have to keep a steady tempo and remember when the song ends and where I drop out.
We play Great Things quite a bit at my church and it was fun to watch and get some different ideas. Thanks for posting the full set, and as a newer worship drummer myself I’d love a vid on your thoughts and prep for worship drumming. Just discovered you today and am subscribed and enjoying your vids. Nice job man!
Just watched the other vid prior to this of yours. Very cool of you doin this, I used to play in couple smaller to mid-size churches Years ago and recently been thinkin I'd do some fill-in work at new church opened up in my town here. Drums been in storage for prob 4 years now so wanted to try finding a few videos to kind of familiarize myself on the worship style again first. Really appreciate your work here~it Helped!...Cool stick-Attack btw!:)
I’m a guitar player at our Contemporary Worship service but I’ve really enjoyed following your gigs. Musicians appreciate musicians. 🤘 PS: you’re a better man than I. I would have the click track out of my mix. Give me a little drums and a little bass and I’m good to go!
Oh man, if I had the funds I'd have you fly out to Sweden to play at my wedding. You're an awesome drummer and I've been sat here watching your videos for 3 hours straight. I played the drums in a band myself and I know how much fun it is :D
Nice work David, we . play many of the same tunes at our church, Been following you for a while now, love all of you videos and stories. Keep up the good work, soon you'll be on tour with likes of Lauren Daigle or Lincoln Brewster, btw, Norm Stockton plays bass for Lincoln Brewster, you should check out Norm's work.
I'm an audio engineer-ish. This church has a more sophisticated setup than most bands and even some touring shows. Recorded click with lots of mics and in-ears? Teleprompter for the singers! wow. And live video! how much money is spent on this.. a lot.
by the end of this video the audio cues for the section of the songs started to sound a lot like "great" "great" "perfect" and for a second I thought you were SMASHING whatever game you were playing. :p
I feel so dumb. While this is also my first time hearing what’s going on in the earpieces, it took me until the beginning of the second song to realize that was a metronome and not you wearing your leg out through the slow parts of the songs. I was really confused when it kept going through the drop in the first song. I’m not much of a drummer, so maybe noticing by the second song isn’t too bad, but I just feel silly. Great video!
Hey David!! It would be cool if you make a video talking about how (usually) do you prepare for gigs? In the case to play with cover bands or with new bands with original songs.. How do you approach those different situations? Regards!!
Hey @DavidColaDrums I've never worked with a live metronome before and I have always wondered if the other bandmembers also have the metronome in their in-ears or if they base their tempo off of your playing?
At my church the singers have queues but no click the other musicians have the same as the drummer with all the choices of turning stuff down in their ears and stuff
Here are the charts: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vVp_HVgdqN-kuuY9XUFB5RyCV9QZRJrE?usp=sharing
chorch charts.. goddammit😂😂😂

Basiker Most churches have a dress code
@@dustin.1x I'd bet this was the given dress code when the ad was published haha!
Watch it dick
Isn’t it every day for worship leaders?
So much denim on that stage, Levi’s are gonna go out of business! Joking aside, you crushed it bro 🤘
Josh Barrow lol
Go out of business? Because of lots of denim sales?
I seriously can’t believe that at least one of these didn’t have the sleeves cut out for a Denim vest. 😂
*Those cymbals are mounted incredibly high!*
the dynamics are the difference between amature and pro. Very musical. Thanks for the post.
Band is only as good as it's drummer, damn that drummer good
i watch you everyday. u keep me inspired in reaching my dreams in my drum career. thanks man.
Thanks so much!! Keep freakin going man!! And don’t stop!
Your Drumming, Musicianship nice , I am missing church after watching your church worship set ,

What a gift you have been blessed with!!
David Cola is the best worship drummer ever!!!!! Love this guy!!!!!
Best ever?
I'm not into Christian Rock at all, but I really enjoyed watching this.
That snare sounds really good!
I had zero idea he was a Christian, I love finding out new things about my favorite drummers. God bless you sir and keep up the good work!
Is that a good thing? :-)
doesnt mean he's christian. a lot of musicians play in christian bands n are not christians they do it for the $$$$$$
@@carlosbetancourt316 dude as someone who played for my church you make 0 bucks from doing so.
Gabriel FSP some churches do pay musicians. i feel ya tho i’ve been playing for my church for 5 years and haven’t made a penny

Great job David!!! Blessings in Jesus name!!!
That snare sound is 👌🏻
Very nice playing David. You and that click are joined at the hip!
Such a great band and really strong singers too. I really enjoyed this David.
Great video; thanks for sharing. I think I will add the first song to my setlist.
What an amazing thing to bless other people and worship God at the same time ❤❤❤👏👏 keep on drumming
People are speaking about the denim, but ... can we appreciate the musicianship ? :D No overplaying, pure respect of the song :)
I love drumming for my church! Amazing job as well!
Cola you're the best bro... Thanks for sharing... This is so helpful to me as I am trying to improve my sight reading skills! God bless!!!

Well, it is LA, there is a pretty good selection of very talented musicians looking for a steady gig to pay the bills.
Having that voice in my ear while playing would be wild.
Can't always be on your A game that early in the morning, the voice director always comes in clutch.

Thank you for showing us that you can play CCM and your snare not sound like a wet paper bag.
Bobbin my head to this! Great music!

David, that's pretty cool. You're an amazing drummer ♥
This is what a pro drummer looks like.
So clean and understated.
This is cool since I have never heard a click track that tells you what’s coming up! Very cool. You are a great drummer! Thanks
"Hey guys...God loves skinny jeans and denim jackets right?" (awesome drumming!)
Well, you made that look easy, great work
Good job on Elevations song! =)

Dude! Thanks for some great ideas! Sometimes I get in rite playing the same songs, but I’ve got some good material to use now.
I used to put hours of planning time into my worship services and I think my drummer would have died if I handed him a chart. lol.

I am genuinely curious, that’s quite a bit of denim on that stage, is it part of the dress code?
typical modern churches, it's good btw
Welcome to the new 2020 church
Canadian Tuxedos
Church I go to now wear hats. Sometimes we talk about dress code. One time, we all dress plaid.
Am I church in Washington State, we all take props from lumberjacks by wearing plaid and jeans.
Great stuff bro! Looks like your rockin a A&H ME-1 personal mixer...by far my favorite personal mixer!
You’re so clean dude🤘🔥
Dude, way to bury that click !!! that was awesome
That was awesome.
You're such a great drummer bro, I love seeing you play.
Dude, that was badass! Bravo!

What is the link for the hard cam in the crowd? or the church's name? BTW... Great drumming

What church do you play for cause I’m a drummer for my church seacoast and I swear she said welcome to seacoast
She did say seacost, which is a multi site church as I’m sure you know...
It's SeaCoast Grace Church, scgchurch.org

Awesome!
Church drumming is fun! So glad to finally see a full set upload. You using an irig?

Yo Dave love the sound and the worship, I’m looking for a new church to attend, where is this church located at??
This is awesome! Anyone who knows please explain what kind of metronome software with voice cues this is?
Hey God bless dude. Question what cymbals do u use and what sizes??
