Thanks so much for this David! It's not often that we get to see a musician of your caliber get frustrated in the practice room and in a world of "perfect" Instagram clips, this was super relatable and refreshing. Got genuinely inspired seeing you push through! Blessings and peace bro 🙏🏾✌🏾

Thanks for sharing David... Long-time follower and I've loved watching your journey!.... As a fellow drummer, your skills behind the kit are mind-blowing!.... This video was next level!.. While I don't understand the need to compose a track with such complexity, I totally appreciate the musicianship required to perform it precisely. And of course, your performance was faultless as expected. Thank you for showing us your journey through it. You are a credit to the profession and an inspiration to us all!...Never stop sharing your journey with us :)

Can you please do a full in depth video all about Ableton and how you get the tracks made etc.. I think this would be so cool and our band uses Ableton as well and think multiple people are curious and wondering about all the details and a dedicated video would be so cool

    Dear David,
thank you so much for taking the time to prepare “BOXXXERS” for us drummers to learn. It has been a wonderful experience learning your composition.
Below is a brief Bio of myself.
    All the best.
    Brief Bio:
    CONRAD ADAMS
Conrad Adams is a dynamic young drummer from Hong Kong.
Conrad Adams who is currently 15 years old began playing drums at the age of 4. Conrad Adams has been learning drums, percussion and bass guitar under the guidance of world renown Australian Drummer Chris Brien since 2014.

Conrad has developed an extremely high level of 4-Way Independence on the drum set as well as developing a strong understanding of odd time meter, both skills being way above his age group.

In 2017, Conrad Adams won the under 16 yrs category of The HKIDF drum competition. Conrad was the youngest competitor in the event being only 12 years old at the time.
In 2020, Conrad Adams was runner up in The UK Young Drummer Of The Year competition, in Birmingham, UK. Conrad was one of the youngest competitors in this event.
Conrad’s influences are Chris Brien, Jim Chaplin, Joe Morello, Dave Weckl , Virgil Donati and David Cola.
Conrad’s other interests are Advanced Mathematics and playing the bass guitar.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to watch my performance of Chandler Martin’s, Bobby Danzi’s & David Cola’s brilliant tune “BOXXXERS” !

Could you explain to me the quintuplet shuffle and how that is 25/16? Every which way I think about it, I get 20/16 instead of 25/16. Everything sounds ripping and you sound unbelievably great!

    • @DavidColaDrums
      @DavidColaDrums  3 года назад

Totally! Think of the quintuplet shuffle section (chorus 4/4 sounding section) as a big 5/4. Think of each 5/4 bar being 5 groups of 5/16 to make 25/16. If you listen to the entire section as a whole, the big 5/4 (25/16) is repeated 8 times exactly before heading back into the second section again. Obviously it’s easier to count in 4/4 (20/16 with the quintuplets), but if you truly wanted to you could count it in 25/16 and it would still line up 😂. The bridge section which I didn’t show is the same way - sounds 4/4, but its technically an implied 4/4 within 25/16 lol. That’s just my friend Chandler, he’s a music school bully but I love him
