  • Following on from my previous video on application of masking tape inbetween carpet and skirting boards....I now demonstrate on the removal of the masking tape in a controlled, efficient manner ...as to avoid any remaining paint on the protected carpet.

      Cheers Nicky 👍 that was just after one coat as well(for demonstration purposes only).... I am very impressed with Dulux Diamond satinwood tbh.... It's one of the best, if not the best over the counter water based satin 👍

    hi great vid. I was after some advice going to be hanging some straight matched vinyl wallpaper and what would be the best way to do the internal corners ? Should i splice it in the corners/double cut it? if i did double cut it should i cut it exactly in the corner? how much should i overlap into both walls? Many thanks

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад

      Hi there, Splicing in the corner is not the correct method. An overlap is required in the corner, but you only overlap by a few millimeters, the amount is determined by how straight the corner is.. but as little as possible. You can do it two ways, slightly wrap around the corner with the first piece, and then overlap from the other wall or vice versa. Fold the full piece on the table pasted as you normally would....measure the width into the corner and double cut your paper to suit allowing a centimetre extra around the corner. You then apply the second piece going into the corner from the other side, but make sure you draw a plumb line on the wall to make sure its straight....corners are very rarely plumb , and your pattern match will be out somewhere in the corner, but always make sure its matched at eye level and let it run out top or bottom.

    Ah I see cuz I was waiting for the paint to dry and that’s exactly what was happening to me , the paint was ripping off

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  Год назад

      Something else to consider is that paint will always come off with the tape if the paint has not adhered sufficiently, and this can be down to a few reasons ...
      Firstly, if you apply a satin or gloss straight over an unprepared surface...I.e if the surface is contaminated, or has not been sanded to create a key....or if you apply azwater based finish over existing oil based coatings without using an adhesion primer first....or it could just be poor quality paint.
      But by tearing it off within a few minutes, it doesn't have time to bond. Using a good quality edge lock tape helps with pulling off when dry.

    Great trick of the trade. Just painted a room and gave the skirting 2 coats. Had to use a sharp blade to cut the tape off the skirting, anyway you can't see my quick fix now. How best to tackle that ? Would I have to re-apply the masking tape ?

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад

      Sorry Andrew, I'm not sure I understand what you are asking? The tape in this situation should not be stuck to the actual skirting board if that helps? It is there to protect the carpet

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад

      And if you remove the tape before the paint dries, it should not stick in a wag that you have to scrape with a knife

      JoeProDecor Hi jo, my question is if you apply 2 coats would you remove the tape after 1st coat and re-apply the masking tape before 2nd coat ?

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад +1

      @@RoderickSpoke ahhh I see....no you would leave the tape until you have applied both coats 👍

    Hi Joe great videos. I’ve just got the xvlp3500 but tried it with Dulux Trade diamond QD satinwood and another QD weathershield satinwood but even with some thinning find the spray is thick on edges - I don’t seem to be able to get a clean spray like I’ve seen yours even with the fine head. Any suggestions please as to how I can get a cleaner spray? Thanks !

      Should also say paint warmed slightly and tried various settings in flow and pressure. Thanks

      @@steves2123 is it the diamond or qd you used in the satinwood? As they are both different products....the qd satinwood does not spray well at all...in fact I dont think they recommend spraying it.
      The diamond sprays nicely

      Also, are you using the fine finish head?

      @@JoeProDecor Its the water based Trade Diamond Satinwood I'm using and tried both the yellow and fine head. The actual finish is good when I sprayed onto the door, but when doing a test I just find the spray seems quick thick either side of the main spray. Whilst Ive got a whole house of doors and woodwork to spray as a DIYer hence investing in the sprayer I also want to try and spray some furniture so I know the xvlp will have its limits but considering you and others are putting undiluted products through I'm just trying to work out why mine does seem a little thicker spray. Maybe its just Im looking up close but cant see yours close on the videos?

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  4 года назад

      @@steves2123 there should be no thick edge Steve. It just sounds like the air and material settings need adjusting. Start with 8 on both then adjust accordingly.
      Try reducing the material dial and testing on a piece of cardboard or old piece of wood...then when you are happy, start spraying your intended surface.
      All paints can require different settings ...but I always do a test piece with settings on 8, and if I'm happy then I am good to go.

      Hi there, good question 🤔...ive heard recently that they are hard to come by.. ive had mine year's though, and I just googled them at the time and bought them online(can't remember exactly where).
      You might have to do some searching or maybe even check ebay for a,second hand set. They might even be rebranded?
      Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer, the very best of luck, Joe

    Hi Joe I’m having issues spraying Crown fast flow satin through my Graco ultra I’m using a 4/10 tip but I get a jet of centre and it stops and starts it’s s real pain any advice the tip is brand new

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад +1

      Hi mate, I'd suggest giving it a good clean, prime ect... Turn the tip round and blast it through... Does water spray through it?

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад +1

      If there is a blockage, it's unlikely to be the tip at fault, but instead the material that is in the pump being forced up to the tip and not being able to get through.... As long as the tip is aligned correctly it will be fine

    • @JoeProDecor
      @JoeProDecor  5 лет назад +1

      The other thing it could be is the paint itself... Some hybrids don't spray all that well due to the fact it's water and oil... You can try putting the pressure up and maybe thinning and warming the paint first.... It's an ilimination process
