    Some times masking tape is removed too soon, this video will explain why it is best to leave the masking tape on until the paint is dry or even leave it on until the following day.

    I found using some caulk along the edge creates a nice sharp line.

      Yes it does but with clear timber it can look messy.

    I put tape in the ceiling when painting the wall but some paint got on the tape tomorrow I was going to give it another repaint should I remove the tape after the repaint when the paint is fresh or when it is dry?

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  3 года назад

      When the paint is is almost dry, wait a little bit then take it off, make sure you are happy with the painting you have done before removing tape.

    I have painted a concrete floor using Latex Paint and along one edge (where there are two different colors side by side on the concrete floor), I used the blue masking tape. Is it still advisable to cut along the tape line prior to peeling the tape off a concrete basement floor...Thanks and good info...

      When using tape you should over lap the paint slightly on to the tape then removed tape after second coat.

    hi could you please help me to how to paint a room with bed and stuff in the bedroom tanks

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  4 года назад

      Take as much out of the room and then what ever is left put in to the centre of the room, this should make painting easier.

    Good vid. What tape do you use?

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  10 лет назад

      I use 3m blue masking tape, it is more expensive but it does come off easier if left on for long periods.

    But when I do that with basic cream masking tape the paint dries on to it and peels off when I remove the tape. I will buy the blue Scotch tape from now on.

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  4 года назад

      If the paint dries try using a knife and cut between tape and wall.

    I pull it as soon as i paint a section. But another reason not to is if your a little heavy on the final coat and pull you may get drips.

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  5 лет назад

      Yes if you are a little heavy handed with the paint you will need to wait longer and you only remove the tape after applying final coats.

    I thought you peel the tape when paint is still wet so that it doesn't tear the paint off. if you run a blade through as you peel the tape, don't you risk accidentally scratching the surface?

    • @howtopaintinfo
      @howtopaintinfo  8 лет назад +3

      Generally when painting you apply two coats but I leave masking tape on just in case a third coat is needed. Taking the tape off while the paint is wet or semi dry is easier but do you want to risk having to do the masking all over again.
      Yes you do risk accidentally scratching the surface but either way there are risks. Just remember some times flaws in the paint aren't noticeable until the paint has dried so if you take the tape off while the paint is wet you have that risk of having to apply the masking tape again. Its easier to touch up a scratch.
