200HP Renault Unveils Blue dCi 200 2 Liter Diesel, it makes 200 HP and 400 Nm of torque. Even though the official press release doesn't clearly state this, the unit is a 2-liter with a single turbocharger. There's also a less powerful version with 160 horsepower that replaces the bi-turbo 1.6 dCi and has 20 Nm more torque than it (340 to 360 Nm).
Using a urea-based solution (AdBlue), the SCR fitted to both engines turns pollutant NOx emissions into nitrogen and water. The treatment of emissions has been further improved by locating the SCR system closer to the engine than with previous technologies, as the efficiency of the system depends on the temperature of the exhaust gases.
The Espace and Talisman are both going to get this 2-liter engine, manufactured in Normandy, towards the end of the year. Also, there are dCi 120 and 150 engines which you may have heard about as well. These things are 1.7-liter units and will replace the 1.6 dCi.
Groupe Renault is at the same time introducing the new TCe 225 EDC GPF petrol engine is fitted with particulate filter (GPF) pollution control technology. It's built in Korea and will power the Espace and Talisman in combination with the 7-speed EDC.
