Not controversial at all....anyone honest knows Orta was a top man when it came to finding young talent......also interest from Forest and Brighton though you missed that report mate

Otra gets vilified unfairly in my opinion. Yes there were many duds he recruited but much of that reflects the market he was forced to trade in but when it comes to younger talent he has brought many very good players to the club and for who we will make not only profit but very big profits.
Unfortunately he became a figure of hate and perhaps began to think he was bigger than the club hence he upset many. But many he upset were strangely quiet when things were going well or he was jumping about with a banner and binoculars for which I saw no criticism. As I’ve always maintained and what became evident as a result of the sale that never was of Harrison it was not he that was solely responsible for signing off deals. It was a group responsibility but he still gets the blame today. Meslier, Struijk, Gelhardt, Gnonto, Summerville, Raphinia.
What people don’t seem to realise is that clubs will recruit youngsters knowing that those that don’t make it and are released make up a huge proportion and that if just one gem emerges then that is regarded as a success.
A maverick figure but one that added to the rollercoaster ride we’ve been on for the last few years.

Some good comments out here some predictable hateful ones but this one is the most intelligent.

Can confirm that he's a great prospect and that Sogndal is indeed a Norwegian (2nd tier) club, the same club we bought Eirik Bakke from!

sure Orta could find players, not sure about the HR side though, re contracts, payments, etc, nor the clubs approach to bringing talent through and giving them minutes (Farke's lack of use of the squad) , and this aspect could be crucial in getting these wunderkinds to sign. For every Somerville there is a Geldhart and so they might not believe they will get the minutes they want.

I too thought he was the other Baidoo.. Which raised my eyebrows when I first heard the news 🤨 No idea on this lad..
Also praising Orta is heresy.. Stop it! 😤🤣🤣🤣

Orta did a brilliant job with what he had available to him. Yes some mistakes were made, but he found some absolute gems too. When some of those players are sold and profits are generated it will paint a more accurate picture of his time at Leeds.

@@ardentspy Poor management, unscrupulous ownership, under performing players, referees, VAR, gypsy curses, the weather....nope. Just Orta?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not his biggest fan by any means, but throwing him up as a scapegoat lets Radrizzani off the hook. I'm definitely not accepting of that.
The money saved from those players who departed on loan was massive and helps to ease financial pressure and balance the books. That is why they are able to take smaller fees on some of them now in part due to previous wage savings.

@@ardentspy Agreed. The loan clauses were baffling and unnecessary. Feels like a knee jerk reaction. I wonder if as a club a massive bullet was dodged and relegation might have saved us in the long run. If the club had continued to take financial risks and investment hadn't arrived we could have seen complete collapse.
The future looks brighter, once the mess they inherited has been cleaned up. The experiences of running big corporate sporting franchises in the US should hopefully mean that finally someone is in charge who knows how to generate profits and growth, rather than covering up poorly negotiated financial deals.

@@ardentspy All part of being a Leeds fan is forgiveness. We are forced to endure so much. Even Bielsa in his soul must by now admit he was wrong about Roberts.

peculiar comment as that is the nature of scouting for the academy...you can say that for every single club just based on the law of averages

good vid, just to be "that guy", living in scandi and closely following swede, dane and to some degree norwegian league im pretty aware of Baidoo. My own understanding of the situation is that if Sogndal are to sell outside of Scandinavia they would be looking to loan the player back for a season, Malmö FF (the most local "larger" team to me) have been tracking Baidoo and have made enquiries...Sogndal have quoted MFF 23 mill sek - just under two mill quid. Malmö FF and the exposure of euro football would seem the correct career move tbh.Have a great day !
p.s i'll raise your Baidoo shout with Archie Stevens - Glasgow Rangers in a similar price range.
