the internet can be home to a lot of nasty things but seeing the guy who created my favorite game as a kid playing and commenting on it is absolutely priceless.
That Gone Jackals soundtrack was amazing, perfect fit for the game. Legacy is an awesome song to play on the guitar. This will forever be my favourite Tim Schafer game.
I just love that expression of Tim just remembering stories about the game. Scratching memories. It's so evident that this was his and only his creation, his baby.
I can't believe this game was only 8 hours long, it took me 5 years to beat, from 8 to 13 years old. And I stacked a lot of cars that first year trying to smoosh the dog.
8 hours if you do literally everything in a single playthrough, which I do not know if it is possible. By that I mean use every text in every conversation, observe and analyze everything and everyone, win and lose every fight, ect.
This game changed my life. Sometimes you look back and see clear a point where all your actions were different after it. This game is that for me. hahahahah Cant wait to see the next part.
Aside from a boneheaded gameplay change for the demolition derby segment (not only did that puzzle make little sense to me, the vehicle itself had godawful controls) and a trial-and-errorish computer puzzle in the end, Full Throttle is the closest I've exeperienced to a truly perfect adventure game. Everything comes together, that ballsy opening cutscene, which is so long, but SO AWESOME, the puzzles, Ben's voice, that music... everything just came together super nicely.
If I remember correctly I once managed to speed-run it in about 20 to 25 minutes... Still one of my favorite games ever! I play it at least once a year. :D Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing, Tim!
Awesome!!!! This was one of my favorite childhood games ... These Devs Play videos with Tim are awesome I got nothing to do today and sitting here watching all these! :)
the intermission music is perfect. it's literally the first thing you find when you search intermission music on youtube. used it myself. 2player production have really come a long way in their craft in the last 2 years. they make excellent shit, backing broken age was worth it for the documentary alone.
I forgot about this game all these years but it all came back watching this. Such as awesome part of growing up for me! It started to look familiar so I googled full throttle ride of the Valkyries, the only tangible thing I remembered from this, and yes, yes, the bunnies made all the memories come FLOODING back.
Full Throttle remains my all time favorite game. Nothing else comes close in terms of sheer, awesome fun. Every so often It calls me back, and I'll dig it out and return to Ben's world. I've played it all the way through about 12 times. :-)
Omg how is possible that i found this video now in 2015 xD. Oh well, better late then never ! This is gonna be awesome i was really looking for director comments on this game.
Wow, a piece of history, thanks for sharing. Waiting for remaster, I hope Mine Road battles and destruction derby can be improved. Played it again last week after something like 15 years and stills funny. The guys shooting and screaming "weeehaaa" lol
yes look it up on the Wikipedia page on the day of the tentacle. it says that once tim shafer is done with day of the tentacle special edition, his next goals would be full throttle because many of the executives in the legal rights chain had fond memories of playing these games and helped to secure the rights to remaster grim fandango and day of the tentacle.thats why tim wants to brink these old titles back.
ercan yaman That's fucking great, man. Thanks for sharing that data. I bought the remastered Grim Fandango and I'm enjoying it a lot. I love the commentary as well.
Love and loved this game when it was out. I didn't play it as much as "Day of the Tentacle", but still gave it a fair share of attention. I love all of Tim's classic works, as well as his recent "Psychonauts" (the third funniest game ever made next to "Day of the Tentacle" and Sierra Games' "Freddy Farkus Frontier Pharmacist"). The animation style and voice acting in "Throttle" were, and still are, great. Even better that they got Mark Hamill to do the bad guy's voice. I still have all my original CDs for the various LucasArts titles, including this one. This game had a killer soundtrack. Holy crap! Looking at the beginning credits, I did not know Tim got the awesome voice talents of Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille (both from "Futurama" and other animated shows), as well as Steve Blum for various characters. That's very, very cool.
Man, I wish there was more information on the development and the background of this game. This game was the gateway into my love for Adventure games. It'd be cool to hear about working with Roy and the other voice actors and to hear more about the setting, development etc. On another note, please release full throttle merchandise :D
21:24 The music and dialogue and direction reminds me of the movie Sin City. 55:45 More Sin City music. I have this game and for some reason never played much of it. Why the hell not???
Damn, I'm giving him hints, I can't belive it I still remember all that stuff after all those years :D And I can't hold it "lock pick in Todd's cabinet for the lock, c'mon" :D
Hey! Loved this video... Of the game which is one of the main reasons I learned english. Now I have to ask though, as some already did... part 2, is it close now? Cant wait :)
My favourite pointN'clickery to this day! So glad DF at least partially revived heavier theme with Brutal Legend...there simply isn't enough games like this.
What does Tim mean by "the new game we're making" at 5:16? One of the following must be true? *the remastered will be missing the opening cuts. *there is a newer Full Throttle in the works. *a completely different game Tim is working on has no opening cuts.
I am surprised by the graphics quality of this game. Ran it on my rig for the first time in 2015, and the PC didn't even know it was there running...but for the style of graphics used, I was impressed. Of course, in 1997, I was surprised by the PS1's 3D technology...but nowadays, appreciating things like this do take on their own place.
Hah! 7:00 Just as I was going to write a comment about *Hells Angels* by Hunter S Thompson and Tim pips me to the punch XD - Fucking ACE book about biker gangs in the '50s and '60s ...written by the king of Gonzo Journalism! What a book! :D All we need now (Now we have "Tentacle" snazzed into in glorious 16:9) is *Full Throttle HD* :) ....G'on Tim...You _know_ it makes sense!
This video watch?v=NN8EhLHKxtA (Stanley Parable music basically) was accidentally playing about 18 seconds in when I started this one, and it just turned into pure brilliance :D
Please please please remaster this game. Please. To be able to play this game with better audio would be a dream come true. Best intro of any game ever. Period. One of the best soundtracks to any game. I'm sure I'm not the only would that would pay to be able to play this on a modern machine. A sequel would be great too : )
Hey, Tom. I know it's not the same, but if you head over to my channel, I've cut the game into what I think is an enjoyable cinematic experience. It's feature-length and includes high quality mixes of some of the songs in it (I'm Facebook friends with Keith Karloff of the Gone Jackals, who gave me permission to use the tracks off the album).
the internet can be home to a lot of nasty things but seeing the guy who created my favorite game as a kid playing and commenting on it is absolutely priceless.
*4+ years later.* Still waiting for part 2. Surely this is going to happen.
Thank you Tim for taking the time for doing this for us. :)
Still waiting on part 2 :(
That Gone Jackals soundtrack was amazing, perfect fit for the game. Legacy is an awesome song to play on the guitar.

Kevin Goble Hah i did the same thing.
+Kevin Goble I finish it in 2 hours now, 1 once
8 hours if you do literally everything in a single playthrough, which I do not know if it is possible. By that I mean use every text in every conversation, observe and analyze everything and everyone, win and lose every fight, ect.
So happy they are remastering this for 2017
43:00 Me from 20 years ago feels delight watching the project lead get as stuck on this puzzle as I did.
Full Throttle is a much more important cultural heritage than Soundgarden. Their loss! 😁
"People want good games of any length." This.
I prefer a short memorable experience compared to a long forgettable one, but that's just me.
That describes literally zero Lucas Art's Adventure Games
@@dollors1 which part of the description?
omg. That's intermission sequence is amazing.
This game changed my life. Sometimes you look back and see clear a point where all your actions were different after it. This game is that for me. hahahahah Cant wait to see the next part.
i love tim. such a nice guy. i wish him and doublefine all the best.
Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing, Tim!
This game is one of the coolest ever. Short but damn sweet.
Awesome!!!! This was one of my favorite childhood games ... These Devs Play videos with Tim are awesome I got nothing to do today and sitting here watching all these! :)
Hope part 2 comes out. Luv this game.
***** 2PP - We want to return to these once Tim is finished with Broken Age, it's taking up all his time at the moment.
DoubleFineProd parts 2 now? if he's too busy, then i can wait... it's a good commentary
Broken Age has been out for a long time, are there still any plans to finish these?
C'mon guys, we're still waiting!
I would LOVE to see Tim finish playing/commentating on this game. I hope and pray it'll happen.
10 year anniversary sequel?
Hey buddy, thanks for doing these videos. Full Throttle somehow became a good part of my childhood.
the intermission music is perfect. it's literally the first thing you find when you search intermission music on youtube. used it myself. 2player production have really come a long way in their craft in the last 2 years. they make excellent shit, backing broken age was worth it for the documentary alone.
Very fun and insightful videos always, thanks 2PP and doublefine.
Part 2 PLEASE!
WHERE IS PART 2
Tims best game!!! Played this game over and over again. The ending was bloody Awesome!!!
Of all of 22 years of this game's life... I never thought of stacking the car wrecks. Still learning new things about this classic game.
I forgot about this game all these years but it all came back watching this. Such as awesome part of growing up for me! It started to look familiar so I googled full throttle ride of the Valkyries, the only tangible thing I remembered from this, and yes, yes, the bunnies made all the memories come FLOODING back.
Is that the triangular DOTT box in the background that was sitting on ebay for the last 10 years? I wonder who bought that.
"I have never seen... any pornography"
It's so funny seeing him trying to play his own game, and failing.
It's really interesting to hear how Tim would tweak the game now.
Full Throttle remains my all time favorite game. Nothing else comes close in terms of sheer, awesome fun. Every so often It calls me back, and I'll dig it out and return to Ben's world. I've played it all the way through about 12 times. :-)

Thanks Tim! This was amazing! More please!!!
Full Throttle is one of my favourite adventure games of all time!
"Thank you, Tim Schafer, for giving us a dream that will never die..." No doubt Full Throttle is on the top of my list.
0:39 around here you can really tell how hard it hit Tim Schafer hearing Roy Conrad's performance. After all these years, he is still missed deeply 😢
Shame there is no part 2
Wow, a piece of history, thanks for sharing. Waiting for remaster, I hope Mine Road battles and destruction derby can be improved. Played it again last week after something like 15 years and stills funny. The guys shooting and screaming "weeehaaa" lol
Really nice use of a soundtrack and great dialog. Even if convoluted and limited by the adventure genre, it's still a classic.
They should really do a HD remake of Full Throttle.
They should but they can't. They don't really own the IP and publishing rights.
RaptorZX3 they will. tim shafer already confirmed that he would do hd remaster of fullthrottle after day of the tentacle special edition
+ercan yaman Holy fucking shit, do you have a source to back that up?
yes look it up on the Wikipedia page on the day of the tentacle. it says that once tim shafer is done with day of the tentacle special edition, his next goals would be full throttle because many of the executives in the legal rights chain had fond memories of playing these games and helped to secure the rights to remaster grim fandango and day of the tentacle.thats why tim wants to brink these old titles back.
ercan yaman That's fucking great, man. Thanks for sharing that data. I bought the remastered Grim Fandango and I'm enjoying it a lot. I love the commentary as well.
This game looks pretty cool. Point-&-clicks are a couple of years before my time. That's a pretty great voiceover cast.
Brushstroke. I get pajama sam flashbacks.
"Nice forks, where'd you find them?" "Right next to the knives and spoons" I used this joke when replacing the forks on my own motorbike.
I always wanted to see more Full Throttle but I also kinda like that it stayed as just one game.
"Do people want a 40 hour game?" Yes. Yes we do. Especially since Full Throttle was ~$65 on release day
Fun game! Remastered version is awesome
still pretty much the best looking and sounding game ever. Id love so much to see larry ahern and peter chan make actual assets for a game again...
One of my favorite games ever!
Tim looks a lot better with his beard: suave and sophisticated, yet still gritty and rugged.
Here's to hoping he grows it back!
He did, and then some
Still love to play this it's the first point and click game I completed
45:03 Tim does Beavis impression
Is there a part 2 of this, does anyone know?
zfsachsag 2PP- We'll try to finish it up this year, Tim's been too busy with Broken Age to shoot the rest of the parts. Won't be much longer!
DoubleFineProd
Speaking of Broken Age, when is the next part of Broken Age coming out? It seems like there hasn't really been much news about it.
Sweet, thanks DoubleFineProd !
*1 year later*
any chances for the part 2??
Love and loved this game when it was out. I didn't play it as much as "Day of the Tentacle", but still gave it a fair share of attention. Tim Shaffer's Let's Remember Everything about Full Throttle!
still no part 2? I just read that there will be a remake/remastered version of this game. Was great watching this!
This is great. Thanks Tim.
Fingers crossed for part 2 with the release of the remaster :D
21:24 The music and dialogue and direction reminds me of the movie Sin City. 55:45 More Sin City music.
I have this game and for some reason never played much of it. Why the hell not???
LEGENDARY MAN.
LEGENDARY GAME.
When is part two coming out?
Damn, I'm giving him hints, I can't belive it I still remember all that stuff after all those years :D
And I can't hold it "lock pick in Todd's cabinet for the lock, c'mon" :D
Hey!

"I just like to bring up Moby Dick so people know this is fuckin' literary" Tim F. Schafer
Tim, could you please make Full Throttle 2?
What does Tim mean by "the new game we're making" at 5:16?
One of the following must be true?
*the remastered will be missing the opening cuts.
*there is a newer Full Throttle in the works.

He was talking about Broken Age, which doesn't have an opening cut scene.
This is offtopic but who operates the Doublefine channel? just wondering.
Its a beautiful game.
Now that DOTT is out (and amazing) can we please please please please get a Full Throttle remaster?
It has already been announced!
Ignacio Silvosa Well then my dreams ahem been answered!
these are great
Friday night with Tim Schafer.
I am surprised by the graphics quality of this game. Hah! 7:00 Just as I was going to write a comment about *Hells Angels* by Hunter S Thompson and Tim pips me to the punch XD
- Fucking ACE book about biker gangs in the '50s and '60s ...written by the king of Gonzo Journalism! What a book! :D
All we need now (Now we have "Tentacle" snazzed into in glorious 16:9) is *Full Throttle HD* :)
....G'on Tim...You _know_ it makes sense!
Never played the game. That's one more reason for wanting a 16 bit Mode to be in the remaster
Would love to see him play Psychonauts.
This video watch?v=NN8EhLHKxtA (Stanley Parable music basically) was accidentally playing about 18 seconds in when I started this one, and it just turned into pure brilliance :D
Shit yeah more Full Throttle!
Have you thought on a movie for this great game? Stallone as Ben would be awesome!
Still got my copy nostalgia
53:54 I'm guessing that this flying vehicle supports the reasoning of people who thought the game was set in a post-apocalyptic world.
Please please please remaster this game. Please. To be able to play this game with better audio would be a dream come true. Best intro of any game ever. Period. One of the best soundtracks to any game. I'm sure I'm not the only would that would pay to be able to play this on a modern machine. A sequel would be great too : )
23:58 this is gold
Sort of explains why people hated those segments, eh?
Are u guys going to make a second game ?
Quand je suis sur la route, je suis indestructible.
Personne ne peut m'arrêter.
Mais, ils essayent quand même...
Tim is laughing exactly like George Lucas.. a very introvert laugh XD
Where the heck is part 2?!
Part 2?
Part 2 please :(
Where's part 2??? :P
you absolute beast
*brain melts*
Best game ever. Remake please. Animated film please. That is all. :)
I like Full Throttle but it was too short and too easy.
Bobby Moynihan should play Tim Schafer in a biopic.
Wait, Rip said to take his jacket and bike but when Ben wakes up, he has both... did I mishear it or is it wrong? Plot hoooles?
Monty Python music was a nice touch
Is there any place to actually still buy this game?
Ebay
Fire Gaming i have a copy
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Ben :) I love the atmosphere and story in Full Throttle.
