    The “kazoo” credit is probably from the acoustic performances of Ghuleh/Zombie Queen

    Tobias Forge is a fascinating artist/individual. He comes across as a very down to earth, charming & intelligent person with a great sense of humor (often poking fun at himself). On the surface he seems like a laid back dude, but like most brilliant performers who enjoy massive success, he is a driven & ambitious artist who demands perfection from himself and everyone around him. Those who challenge him or disagree with his vision, do not last very long in his universe (the legal battle with former band mates over financial compensation comes to mind). Given his musical talent, song writing ability, and how fluent & articulate he is in English, I assume he has an IQ that would register in the genius range. I would probably be quite nervous & intimidated if I ever met him in person, but his charm & humor would probably put me at ease and leave a positive impression. Great video and reaction Lauren. 👍🤘

    The first riff you heard asking if that was a Ghost song is the riff that started it all. Tobias was sitting with a friend playing guitar and suddenly came up with that riff. He wrote the song "Satans Natt" that ended up being Stand By Him on the first record Opus Eponymous. This was 2006. By 2008 he had written three more songs and the first demo was recorded. Tobias uploaded that demo on Myspace and everything ecploded. 2010 Opus was released and from then on there's has never been no looking back. Ghost is and has always been Tobias. Lzzy Hale from Halestorm which is a close friend to Tobias and a huge Ghost fan calls him the man with the plan and a musical genious which sums up Tobias in quite a good way. Try Stand By Him next.

    amazing that he writes and records all the songs himself , with some friend help, and then goes on stage as lead singer without playing any instruments....

    I thought the exact same thing about how good Tobias' English is! But when he is in character his English is a little broken!

      He adopts an Italian accent when in character of course.... 👌

      As a Swede it's easier to just fall into some kind of bonus accent than to speak 95% perfect english and notice you have a cringe accent in some words and get annoyed by it.
      All these th, ch, ph and wh sounds are pretty hard to pronounce correctly for us and you don't want to stumble so you just do them slightly off, at least that's how I speak. 😉

    Tobias is a lot of fun! He has a good sense of humor; a simple sense of humor, or whatever... I like that. And maybe that's what makes Ghost's songs so good to dance to like a dictator, or a conductor, in the bedroom... Hhahah! And speaking of Square Hammer, whenever I hear that song... I kind of remember the philosopher of the hammer: Friedrich Nietzsche. What he proposed to overthrow "supreme idols" of humanity, or something like that... With "a hammer". In that book, 'The Twilight of The Idols'. But in a sarcastic way; entertaining; humorous and ironic. Which is kind of cool... I guess.

    It's the confusing of the various "S" sounds that makes him suddenly sound Swedish. Note in Danse Macabre he sing "I feel the clozer we get..." He does also speak Italian and Latin... and, I presume, Swedish and Finnish.

    I think he is intentionally Americanising his pronunciation early on. For example, he pronounces his name along the lines 'Toh-by-us Forj', even though the Swedish name would be more like 'Tuh-bee-us For-geh'. When he sounds more Swedish he is engaging more with what he is saying and speaking more naturally, I presume.

    • @DaP84
      @DaP84 Год назад +5

      Yeah, he pronounce his name in an american way, smart for convenience and image, sounds more like an artist name

    • @Kodaemon
      @Kodaemon Год назад +4

      I don't think it's entirely intentional, I tend to go into a similar style kinda unwittingly, I'm Polish. I kinda think It's the mark of someone who'd picked up English mostly by watching undubbed American saturday morning cartoons, which was a thing in Europe back then because of satellite TV. Which also is funny, because I use British spelling because that was used in a lot of the books that i'd read for my formal education. If anything, I revert to a Polish accent when speaking English to other Poles who might not be as proficient in English to understand me, or sometimes I just slip up - but sounding "American" is not something I consciously do.

    • @IVEmeritus
      @IVEmeritus Год назад +3

      @@Kodaemon That makes a lot of sense to me. I do a lot of this too. Especially the last part. I mainly describe my accent(s) as conditional. I'll start speaking English with a Japanese accent if I'm around my mom & her side of the family, other people with that accent, or if I've been speaking or singing for a while in Japanese and switch back to English.
      I normally have a plain General American accent, but my partner's a Texan and brings out my south Georgia drawl. My father (he has a diluted accent) moved us there where his family is and that accent will grab you.

    Tobias last name, Forge is actually pronounced "Forr-geh", Forr like forrest and geh like eh, not like the english word "forge". Seems like no none Swedish Ghost fans knows or cares about this "detail".

    • @STOPLIKEBEGGARS101
      @STOPLIKEBEGGARS101 Год назад +6

      But Tobias himself uses the English pronunciation when speaking English and introducing himself, and the Swedish pronunciation when speaking Swedish, so it's a bit unfair to blame the non-Swedes for pronouncing it "wrong".
